A charrette is an intensive, one day community study. The day begins with a walk through the community. Each group notes the positives and negatives they see. Afterwards, groups work with design professionals to draw and discuss ways to enhance the public realm, built environment and infrastructure. Based on the outcomes from the day, the design center can then begin working on a Vision Plan! The Vision Plan is a tangible resource that documents the outcome of the charrette. The ideas presented on the pages of your Vision Plan will be vital in your community’s future plans for development.

CharrettesDesign Guidelines are produced by the RRCDC to establish a base for physical character of a region. Design Guidelines are used to guide the first steps in the process of implementing improvements. These outlines can be used to influence the design of new buildings, current buildings, street amenities, signage, landscaping etc. The guidelines address critical aspects of design that will allow for vibrant, walkable, desirable, pedestrian-friendly communities to develop.

Our educational services and training sessions will assist community groups in creating long-term, sustainable design decisions.
