Do I have to be a DJ to be involved? No! We have lots of ways you can volunteer- from helping with our Music Library to fliering for upcoming shows. Just email [email protected] for more information on how to pitch in!
Do I have to be a Journalism or Telecommunications major to participate? No, but it’s a great place to get some experience if if you want to develop skills in these fields.
Do I have to have any prior experience? No experience necessary, we will train you in-house on all the equipment you’ll need to know.
A student organization of the University of Kentucky, WRFL is a non-profit radio station that first hit the airwaves in 1988. WRFL is dedicated to educating students and community members on the best new, unheard-of & underappreciated music across the decades up to the very latest releases.
Our 80+ volunteer DJs are committed to serving the UK and Central Kentucky community by providing an alternative to commercial radio 24/7/365 through our quality programming and low-cost or free concerts and music festivals.
Located in the Student Center, WRFL is the place for you if you’re interested in music, concerts, or alternative culture.
