Ilisagvik College is Alaska’s First Federally Recognized Tribal College - Fully Accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities..

About IlisagvikIỊisaġvik College is the only accredited, Alaska Native controlled higher education institution in Alaska, and is the only college located within the boundaries of the Arctic Slope. In 2005, we also became the only Tribal College in the state. We offer two-year Associate Degrees and certificates in vocational, academic, and workforce development fields. Every program we offer at the college not only models our Iñupiat traditions, values, and culture, but also has substantial career and employment opportunities in the Arctic as well as elsewhere in Alaska. We serve students at our campus in Barrow and via distance delivery.

Why Ilisagvik is right for youIỊisaġvik College offers its students an educational experience tailored to fit their needs and schedules. IỊisaġvik reaches out to students and offers a way for them to get the education they need to provide for themselves and their families. Whether you are a full time mom, looking to change careers or looking to increase your skills in your chosen field, IỊisaġvik has a program that can work around your schedule. Here at IỊisaġvik, we recognize each individual student for who they are and what their specific needs might be. Whether it’s something as simple as picking you up at the airport when you come in from your village, helping to find safe, sober and secure housing for you while you attend IỊisaġvik, or hosting Native food potlucks, we personalize our service for you.

Educational opportunities for jobs near your homeIỊisaġvik focuses on both the educational needs of rural Alaska residents AND the workforce needs of employers. Many of its class offerings, both short and long-term programs, are meeting the specific requests of employers. This means that an education at IỊisaġvik will prepare you for work close to your village and your family.

A second chance to complete your high school education You’re never too old to finish high school. In today’s workforce, a high school diploma or GED is essential to future success. Through IỊisaġvik’s Adult Basic Education program, you can finally get that GED.

Programs that prepare you to continue on to a four-year programIỊisaġvik knows that each student has their own unique needs and goals for their future. If your goal is to get a four-year diploma, IỊisaġvik can offer you the first two years of that degree in a comfortable and familiar setting geared towards giving you a successful beginning to your college experience. Because IỊisaġvik is fully accredited, your work here can transfer to your four year degree elsewhere.
