It seems that finally the good weather is here even though we still experience a few showers here and there. I hope ev-erybody had a good Memorial weekend.

The master was very happy with the priest-hood ordinations because now they have 9

more priests to serve the Church. The master was very involved in bringing them to the diocese. Pray for those new priests that they will persevere in their vocation. Here is a nice little joke: A teacher asked the children in her Sunday School class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale, and give all the money to the

church, would I get into heaven?” “No!” The children all answered. “If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I then get into heaven?” Again, the answer was “NO!” “Well,” she continued, “then how can I get into heaven? In the back of the room, a five year-old boy shouted, “You got-ta be dead!” Out of the mouth of babies you will al-ways here the truth. I hope you didn’t forget to bring pasta and tomato sauce for the Food Pantry in Paterson which serves the very poor of the diocese. If you forgot, you still have a chance to bring those items to the Par-ish Office until this Tuesday, June 5th. Ciao, woof, woof.

CELEBRATING THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

CORPUS CHRISTIBy Father Hernan

Dear friends: Today the Church gathers her sons and daughters around the altar to praise the Lord and to give him thanks for the great gift of the Eucharist. How wonder-ful it is that we take a day just to be amazed and to focus on the very Body and Blood of Jesus. It is through his own body and blood that we have redemption and we had been saved because of his eternal sac-rifice of his life on the cross. We Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Christ on the altar when the priest consecrates the bread and wine that becomes the body and blood of Jesus. We believe that not only is his food given to us as nourishment for our bod-ies both physical and spiritual but we also believe that Jesus remains with us under the form of Bread for us to worship him in the tabernacle or in the expo-sition of the Most Blessed Sacrament. What an awe-some mystery we contemplate today in our Catholic Churches. For this we praise and we glorify our God. What does it mean that Jesus Christ is pres-ent in the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine? How does this happen? The pres-ence of the risen Christ in the Eucharist is an inex-haustible mystery that the Church can never ful-ly explain in words. We must remember that the triune God is the creator of all that exists and has the power to do more than we can possibly imagine.

Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist as spiritual nourishment because he loves us. God’s whole plan for our salvation is directed to our par-ticipation in the life of the Trinity, the commu-nion of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our sharing in this life begins with our Baptism, when by the power of the Holy Spirit we are joined to Christ, thus becoming adopted sons and daughters of the Father. It is strengthened and increased in Confirmation. It is nourished and deepened through our participation in the Eucharist. By eating the Body and drinking the Blood of Christ in the Eucharist we become united to the person of Christ through his humanity. “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him” (Jn 6:56). In being united to the humanity of Christ we are at the same time united to his divinity.

Let us pray that we grow in our love and de-votion for the Eucharist and as we celebrate this great feast let us make a commitment to wor-ship the Lord in our adoration chapel at least once a week. May his Body and Blood strengthen our lives in holiness and in the love of Christ the Lord.

FOOD FOR THE POORThis weekend we are collecting food for the food pantry in our Catholic Charities in Paterson. During the summer the pantry does not have enough food to serve the hundreds of families that the Diocese serves every day. They had asked our parish to gather pasta and tomato sauce. FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTIThis weekend we are celebrating the great feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus. This is a great opportunity to join the many people that visit the chapel every day and every week. Jesus is always waiting for us to spend time with us alone in the adoration chapel. He is only asking you for one and only one hour. Make a commitment with the Jesus and promise to come to the chapel once a week. YEAR OF THE BIBLEIt is my hope that we are all reading the Bible every day or at least once a week. We place in the bulletin a little homework which is a way to get you started with the studying of the Bible. We usually put the Gospel read-ing of the following Sunday. We also invite you to get together with your family or with the neighbors you know or don’t know and study together the Word of God. We also invite you every Thursday to join us as we study the Bible here in our parish. Fr. Yasid and Fr. Hernan are the Bible instruc-tors and the people are having a god time learning the Word of God.

Parece que finalmente tienen buen tiem-po a pesar de que les llueve por días. Es-pero que todos hayan tenido un bonito fin de semana de Memorial Day. El amo

estaba muy contento porque fue la orde-nación sacerdotal de la diócesis y ahora hay

9 padres nuevos para servir en la iglesia. No sé si ustedes saben pero el amo está muy comprometido en ayudar a los seminaristas a venir a este país y a hacer parte de la diócesis. Oren por estos nuevos sacerdotes para que perseveren en su vocación. Aquí les va este chiste: “Un profesor le preguntó a sus alumnos en clase de cate-cismo los domingos: “Si vendiera mi casa y mi carro, hiciera un Garage Sale y le diera todo mi dinero a la

iglesia, iría al Cielo?” “¡No!” dijeron todos los niños. Volvió a preguntar: “Si limpiara la iglesia todos los días, cortara la grama y mantuviera todo limpio y en orden, entonces si me iría al Cielo?” Un niño de 5 años desde la parte de atrás del salón grito: “¡Tienes que morirte!”. Siempre escucharás la verdad de la boca de los ni-ños. Espero que no se hayan olvidado de traer pasta y salsa para pasta para la colecta especial que se hizo este fin de semana para el Banco de alimentos de cari-dades católicas en Paterson, que ofrece mucha ayuda a los más pobres de la diócesis. Si no trajeron nada aun pueden traer las cosas a la oficina hasta este martes. Chao y guau, guau.

CELEBRAMOS LA FIESTA DE CORPUS CHRISTI: EL CUERPO

Y LA SANGRE DE CRISTOPor el Padre Hernán

Queridos amigos: Hoy la iglesia reúne a sus hijos e hijas entorno al altar para alabar al Señor y darle gracias por el gran rega-lo que es la Eucaristía. Qué maravilloso es tomar un día solamente para asombrarnos y enfocarnos en el Cuerpo y sangre del mismo Jesús. Es por medio de su propio cuerpo y sangre que obtenemos la redención y que nos hemos salvado gracias a su eterno sacrificio de su vida en la cruz. Como católicos creemos en la pre-sencia real y verdadera de Cristo en el altar cuando el sacerdote consagra el pan y el vino que se convierten en el cuerpo y sangre de Jesús. Nosotros creemos no solamente que estas especies se nos dan como alimen-to físico para nuestros cuerpos, sino que es también es-piritual porque además creemos que Jesús permanece con nosotros bajo las especies del Pan para nosotros adorarlo en el tabernáculo (sagrario) o en la exposición del santísimo sacramento. Qué impresionante miste-rio que contemplamos en las iglesias católicas. Por esta razón alabamos y glorificamos a nuestro Dios. ¿Qué significa que Jesucristo esté presente en la Eucaristía bajo las especies del pan y el vino? ¿Cómo sucede esto? La presencia de Cristo resucita-do en la Eucaristía es un misterio inagotable que la iglesia nunca podrá explicar completamente con palabras. Debemos recordar que el Dios Trino es el Creador de todo cuanto existe y tiene el poder de hacer más de lo que nosotros podamos imaginar.

Jesús se nos da a nosotros en la Eucaristía como alimento espiritual porque él nos ama. El plan de Dios para nuestra salvación está dirigido a nuestra partici-pación en la vida de la Trinidad, en la comunión con el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Nuestro compartir en esta vida comienza con nuestro Bautismo, cuando por medio del poder del Espíritu santo nos unimos a Cris-to, así haciéndonos hijos e hijas adoptivos del Padre. Esta unión se fortalece y aumenta, más adelante con la Confirmación. Se alimenta y se profundiza por medio de nuestra participación en la Eucaristía. Al consumir Su Cuerpo y beber de Su Sangre nos unimos a la per-sona de Cristo por medio de su humanidad. “El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre permanece en mí y yo en él” (Jn. 6, 56). Al estar unidos a la humanidad de Cristo estamos al mismo tiempo unidos a su divinidad. Oremos juntos para crecer en nuestro amor y devoción a la Eucaristía, al celebrar esta gran fiesta y hagamos el firme propósito y compromi-so de alabar al Señor en la capilla de adoración que tenemos y vengamos 1 vez a la semana. Que su Cuerpo y Sangre fortalezcan nuestras vidas en santidad y en el amor a Cristo, nuestro Señor.

NUESTRA LITURGIA – LA MISALa Misa es el centro de nuestras vidas como cristianos católi-cos que somos. San Juan Pablo II dijo: “La Misa es el cen-tro y la cumbre de la vida cristiana”. Queremos que la Misa no sea un simple “función” sino una verdadera expresión de nuestro amor a Dios y una verdadera alabanza que vi-ene directo del corazón. Queremos escuchar de ustedes cómo qué sienten sobre la celebración de la Misa domini-cal, en cuanto a hospitalidad, predicación, música y la for-ma en que se hacen las cosas en la parroquia. Los invito para que recorten este formulario, escriban lo que piensan y nos ayuden a mejorar la celebración dominical de la santa Misa

ALIMENTOS PARA LOS POBRESEste fin de semana estamos recogiendo cosas para el banco de alimentos de caridades católicas en Paterson. Durante el verano el banco de alimentos no cuenta con suficiente comida para servir a los cientos de familias a las que ofrecen su ayuda cada día. Nos han pedido a nosotros como parroquia traer cualquier clase de pasta y salsa para pasta en envase de vidrio. Si ustedes olvi-daron traer algo este fin de semana, pueden traerlo el lunes o martes a la oficina ya que este miércoles habrá que llevar todo al banco de alimentos. Ayudemos a los pobres que son también nuestros hermanos y hermanas.

FIESTA DE CORPUS CHRISTIEste fin de semana celebramos esta gran fiesta del Cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo. Es una gran oportunidad para que venga como ya lo hacen muchos a visitar la capilla de adoración donde tenemos expuesto al santísimo sac-ramento las 24 horas del día y los 7 días de la semana. Jesús siempre espera por ustedes para que vengan a pasar tiempo con él a solas en la capilla. Él solo les pide 1 hora a la semana. Hagan el compromiso con Jesús. Hay muchas horas en las que no viene nadie a acompañar al santísi-mo y a lo mejor usted puede cubrir una de ellas. Para más información llame a la oficina parroquial 973-538-0874.

VIAJE A AUSTRIA Y SUIZAEstamos listos para viajar por los países alpinos del 1 al 10 de octu-bre. Será un gran viaje y una oportunidad para visitar y ver esa parte del mundo que es muy hermosa porque está muy cerca de los Alpes suizos. Espero que puedan venir con nosotros. AÑO DE LA BIBLIAEspero que todos estén leyendo la Biblia todos los días o al menos 1 vez a la semana. En el boletín cada semana publicamos una tarea para así ayudarles a estudiar la Biblia. Por lo general ponemos pregun-tas acerca del evangelio del domingo siguiente. Además los invi-tamos para que se reúnan en familia o con vecinos y con gente que conozcan o no conozcan y juntos estudien la Palabra de Dios.

PRO-FONDO EMAÚSApoyen la actividad que tendrá el Ministerio de Emaús para recoger fondos para realizar su propio retiro. Será el sábado, 9 de junio a las 2 PM en el gim-nasio de la escuela. El costo es $10 dólares por persona incluye la comida.
