Our school was established in 1984, the third to be affiliated with the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance. It is an aided co-educational secondary school.

Based on Christian ethos, the unified team of devoted collaborative staff members of the school advocates whole-person and balanced education in the areas of spirituality, ethics, intellect, physique, social skills and aesthetics.

With the help of the multifarious curriculum, bilingualism and triliteracy setting, extensive reading scheme and the emphasis on creativity and thinking skills, our school is committed to equipping our students to be motivated learners and educated persons.

At the same time, we aim to help our students learn the redemption gospel, understand life-guiding principles, learn to be well-mannered, think discreetly and show discernment, act swiftly and be healthy, know how to appreciate others and artistry, love their families and community, contribute to the country and ultimately glorify God and benefit mankind.

School Motto"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

It is our belief that every person is gifted with different talents and therefore we strive to provide a flexible and diversified curriculum which helps students to develop their potential. Details of our curriculum are as follows:

a. In our New Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum, a number of electives have been offered to students so that they can choose the ones which suit their talents and interests. Besides, small-group teaching is arranged during Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies lessons. Hence, teachers can better meet students' individual needs.

b. 'Integrated Arts Education' has been introduced in the Secondary 3 curriculum. Students can choose from a wide range of arts subjects including Visual Arts, Multi-media Arts, Drama, Music and Dance.

c. Liberal Studies has been introduced in our junior secondary level classes so as to ensure a smooth transition to the NSS curriculum.

d. Various activities like talks, visits and field trips are arranged to facilitate students' acquisition of skills necessary for project learning, from which they can acquire different generic skills.

e. E-Class, as a platform for students' self-access learning, is launched in the school intranet so that students can learn interactively at home.

f. English Drama in S.1 English Language curriculum helps students to have fun in learning English.

g. Boys and girls have equal opportunities to take both Design & Technology and Home Economics in S.1 to S.3 studies.

h. Different programmes are organised on Other Learning Experiences Days to widen the learning horizons of students.

Our school endeavours to create a favourable English-learning environment for students in the campus. English is used not only in the lessons, but also outside classes. We have English morning assemblies every week. Students can join the English Society and go to the English City run by our native English teacher to practise their English. Besides, we have English Speaking Day every week and different English Language selected activities like lunch time activities and 'Thematic English Learning Week' are organised to encourage students to speak English. Moreover, there are English enhancement and remedial classes to meet students' individual needs.

Bilingualism and Triliteracy

We also make an emphasis on students' Chinese and Putonghua learning. In line with the educational reform, the Chinese Language Panel takes a proactive approach to develop a school-based curriculum using tailor-made teaching units and promote an extensive reading scheme with an aim to enhance students' language skills.

Reading to Learn Bearing the belief that effective learning attributes to the proficiency in languages, the school emphasises individual reading work during morning reading sessions and reading lessons in Chinese and English languages. The arrangement of 'Book Sharing' by senior secondary level students for students of other levels, and the collaboration with the school library in promoting reading help to cultivate an extensive reading atmosphere among students. 'My Reading Profile' scheme, which provides feedback to the reading performance for junior secondary level students, facilitates students to develop a habit of reading.

Cultivating Creativity, Critical Thinking and Communication Skills

In response to the educational reform to cultivate students' talents in the new era, we have put much emphasis on developing students' nine generic ski l ls , especial ly creativity, critical thinking and communication skills.

a. In the eight Key Learning Areas, we intentionally include the elements o f c r e a t i v i t y, c r i t i c a l t h i n k i n g and communication skil ls in the organization of booth games, talent show as well as poem and play writing competitions in the Chinese and English languages.

b. G r o u p d i s c u s s i o n s , d e b a t e s and th ink ing sk i l l s t ra in ing are incorporated in lessons.

c. Questions requir ing retr ieval of information from memory are reduced whi le more quest ions requir ing critical thinking are included in school assessments.

d. I n t e g r a t e d A r t s E d u c a t i o n i s introduced in the S.3 curriculum to develop students' creativity in drama, music, dance, multi-media and visual arts.

e. "Off-Campus" learning experiences such as inter-school competitions, external courses (e.g. courses for Mathematics and Science Olympics and courses for gifted students run by universities) are arranged for students.

f. Collaboration across subjects in the programme, 'Thematic English Learning Week', is implemented ever y year to enhance students' participation and interest so as to nurture their creativity, critical thinking and communication skills.

g. T h e h u m a n i t i e s w o r k to g e t h e r t o c u l t i v a t e j u n i o r s e c o n d a r y level students ' cr i t ica l th inking skills through the curriculum and instruction.

Not only does our school focus on students' academic performance, but it also strives to cultivate students' personalities and build their character. Through close collaboration among the Discipline Committee, Counselling Committee, Religious Affairs Committee and Moral and Civic Education Committee, the school adopts both preventive and remedial measures to instil proper life values in our students.

The Counselling Committee aims at cultivating a caring culture which fosters a promising school environment by providing counselling services, individual care and various activities in the hope that our students can grow into maturity.

By means of making school regulations and setting up guidelines on student discipline, the Discipline Committee works hard to help students build up a self-disciplined and conscientious community among themselves.

For students' spiritual development, Christian Fellowship and different activities like talks, games, barbecue and Gospel Week have been organised by the Religious Affairs Committee. Individual guidance is also offered to students by our teachers. Through these activities, we share the Christian faith with our students and bring them to Christ.

For students' whole-person development, Life Education has been introduced to both junior and senior form classes to help students establish values and build up their life with biblical truth.

Over 50% of students attained level 3 or above in 11 subjects out of 14 subjects offered by the school. Among individual subjects, over 65% of students got level 3 or above in Economics, Liberal Studies, Physics and Mathematics Extended Module (M2). The average percentage of having level 2 or above in all subjects offered was 90%. Besides, 96.8%, 90.5%, 93% and 94.9% of our students got level 2 or above in English Language, Chinese Language, Mathematics (Core Part) and Liberal Studies respectively.

回顧我的中學生活 在鄭榮之的六年裡,我收獲的不僅僅是知識。其中,我經歴過很大的轉變。 初中時期的我並不是十分活躍的學生,沒有參加課外活動,幾乎所有的時間都投放於學業上。直至高中時期,經過老師的鼓勵才嘗試加入英文辯論隊。参與辯論隊讓我在個人處事及學習態度這兩方面皆有很大的轉變。 尤其記得,初次參加辯論比賽的經歷。當時的我感到十分緊張,在準備階段時已經認為自己不可能寫出一份有說服力的講稿。後來得到師長的協助及長時間的練習,最終能夠有超水準的發揮,完成比賽。由初賽到決賽,不知不覺間,度過了很多突破自我的時刻。另外,我從擔任學會主席一職中掌握與人相處的技巧,學會如何以領袖身份與他人合作和相處。在學校裡擔任不同角色、經歷比賽、以及新嘗試令我逐漸由一位膽怯、內向的新生,蛻變為有自信、外向的榮之人。 相信大部分的中學生的生活中大部份時間都圍繞著學業,而我卻認為在課外活動與讀書之間取得平衡是最為重要的。首先要學會如何分配好時間,才能提高自我的學習效能。我曾經花費所有空餘的時間在學業上,然而發現缺乏人與人溝通互動的生活是苦悶無比的。參加適量的課外活動能夠擴闊社交圈子,讓我們適時放鬆心情,更能愉快地學習。 讀書、應付考試並不是容易的事。相信對很多中一新生而言,全英語上課是第一個面對的難題。中一時,我也曾對全英語學習環境感到不安。透過母校提供英語銜接課程,加上一段時間的適應,便不甚感到困難了。經歷文憑試後,我更明白到在學習上遇上困難只能夠選擇積極面對,這樣才能有效地把各科知識融匯貫通並加以應用。在校園中我們並不是孤身一人;在這裡,有願意幫助我們的老師 、共同學習的好伙伴,因為同學有需要時可以向師長尋求幫助,他們都十分樂意幫助我們解決難題。

回顧以往,我竟已走過了人生第一個難關—中學文憑試。中五至中六期間,我視文憑試如洪水猛獸,如今回頭看,文憑試只是一塊人生中的踏腳石,是我們進入大學生活前的必經階段。 由心而發地想對所有老師說聲感謝。文憑試期間,縱使老師們身有忙碌的教學職責,仍然不辭勞苦地為我們準備很多額外的温習材料,甚至犧牲私人的時間幫我們補課。同時,亦十分感謝校長和副校長無時無刻給予我們的支持,為我們作出悉心的安排,提供優質的學習環境。再一次在這裡,感謝校長、老師們的無私付出,讓我們渡過愉快的六年校園生活。 時間的流逝之快超乎我的想像。今天,我不再是當初那個懵懂的新生,亦不會再穿著校服在校園裏走動了。中學的學習階段已告一段落,而正迎接我的是更多挑戰,更多姿多彩的大學生活。我希望從大學的五年中學習專業的護理知識,以及提升溝通技巧、將來可以成為一位盡責、有熱誠的精神科護士,服務有需要的人。 最後,衷心祝福榮之人能有美好而充實的學習生活。

我的反思 迷惘,「迷」意即分辨不清,失去了辨別、判斷的能力,而「惘」即是失意,我們或許會失意、迷失,但最重要是我們能夠重回正軌。 中學,是我們人生中重要一環,亦是我們由天真幼嫩的少年時期過渡至可靠踏實的青年時期,正因如此,我們更加容易迷失方向,面對這個突如其來的斷層,不單是我,所有曾經歷這個時期的人亦曾迷惘,同時因為這個階段將決定我們無法預測的將來。我們會作出很多決定,在這些決定中我們會犯錯,犯下一些刻骨銘心的錯誤,小至上學遲到、忘記帶書本……大至忘記與好友之間的約定,因玩樂而荒廢學業,沒有人能為自己分擔痛楚,只有自己才能承受箇中之苦,承擔犯錯帶來的後果。過程雖然艱辛難忍,但有如鳳凰涅槃,浴火重生,但我們重生的是最珍貴的意志,而意志力從來都是人類一項重要的資產,憑著意志力,我們可以無視痛苦,只向著目標邁進,跨越一切連自己也難以相信的難關。但意志力的培養往往藉由反覆的磨練而成,而中學正正是

其中一個磨練的場所。人們常說中學是真實社會的縮影,彷彿就像一個迎接未來社會的模擬測試,但同時亦可以是一課課堂,我們無法避開、逃避。因為我們想避開的不只是課堂、測驗,亦是成長,只要時間依然按照它的獨有的規律流逝,我們就必須成長,因此我們不必迷惘、猶豫,面對前面的唯一路徑、選擇就只有面對。 故此裝備自己亦是唯一的方法,透過讓自己接觸更多、學習更多,有如樹木伸延密集而繁多的樹根,形成一個巨大而互相連結的網絡。社交方面,這可以是包含不同背景、不同性格、擁有不同能力的人的社交網絡。在學術層面,因為我們必定會遇到不同的難題或挫折,若我們對該主題、範疇的了解和認識不夠深入、不夠透徹,我們或無法解決眼前的難關。而且現時對知識探究的層面漸漸變得廣泛並涉及多個看似了無關係而其實可互相運用的情況,藉著其中相通之處,我們可以得到一些新的領悟以及得著,從而在該方面得到一些簇新,甚至是與別不同的突破。

這是我的中學生涯 臨近開學,憶起當初那個對新校園懵懵懂懂、一無所知的我,來到了這所基督教學校——宣道會鄭榮之中學,從而在此為我的中學生涯譜下了一首首動人心弦的樂章。當初的那個我,除了內心裏有隱藏不住的興奮,更有著對未知的緊張和擔憂,心中也常常冒出無數個問號:我該怎麼認識新朋友?該怎麼適應新的學業?該怎麼和老師相處?……諸如此類,不計其數。但值得感恩的是,這種複雜的情緒很快就被這班熱心友好的師長融化了,這段經歷稱為——成長。 記得初中時我並不太熱衷於參加任何課外活動,只和朋友在中三時參加了學校的中文辯論隊,心裏是希望自己可以踏出一大步的。直到升上高中,我的視野漸漸開闊,我參加了一個改變我大學選科方向的活動——學生營商體驗計畫。從幾十個同學共同合作開辦公司,設計產品,製作產品,推銷產品等,都由我們每個人親力親為,一手包辦。在這裡,我得到了很大的滿足感。自此,我立志將來也要在商業方面發展,開墾自己的一片天地。除參加校內活動外,我還積極參加了校外大大小小的活動。例如香港資優教育學苑舉辦的各種領導才能工作坊,不斷累積對商科的興趣。 雖然課外活動給我很多收穫,但我也失去了不少,例如時間。然而魯迅說過:時間就像海綿裡面的水,只要你肯擠,總是會有的。做為學生,平衡學習和課外活動是必不可少的。所以,第一個我想告訴大家的心得就是分配自己的時間。如何分配?學校每一學年都會發放一本學生手冊,我都會把當天的課業或之後的測驗日子都記錄下來,然後為自己設計一個簡易的時間表,在指定時間內完成自己給自己佈置的任務。我想,這是一個很好的提醒自己讀書的方法。第二,要養成不懂就問的習慣。特別是從初中升上高中,面

對著新鮮的課題,繁重的課業,我感覺只靠自己理解書本內容是絕對不夠的,更重要的是,我們要學會發問,老師的任務是教導我們,而學生的責任就是盡力去動腦發問,這才不枉老師的晝夜備課和辛勤教導。最後,經常留意時事新聞是十分重要的。在初中時,我對社會時事還只是一知半解,漸漸地,通過看新聞、看報紙,發現自己的視野一下子就開闊了,這不只有利於通識科的批判性思考,寫作上也帶來不少有用的題材,可謂一舉兩得。 當然,提到這間基督教學校,最讓我感動的是在這裡我認識了主,祂的帶領、祂的指引、祂的愛都讓我有所成長,感謝祂讓我遇見這班鄭榮之的師長們、同學們,我的成長離不開他們。還記得臨近公開試那段時間,我也曾跌過低谷,向主不斷地祈禱讓我順利度過了這段困難期,感謝鄭榮之,感謝主。 最後的最後,我和你都將面臨著一個新的開始,新的起點,可能陌生,也許孤單,或者艱難,但不論過去的我們是怎樣,做好今天的自己,裝備好今天的自己,我們就贏了。自己對自己都沒信心,更遑論別人?相信這裡不只升中一的新生們對陌生環境的擔憂,中五升中六的師弟妹們在新學制下對文憑試或多或少也有些恐懼,但我相信只要你有盼望、有決心、有目標,咬緊牙關,向前衝吧!勝利就在眼前。加油!

在中學、大學,甚至未來社會之中生活,我們就會需要讓自己融入其中,與不同觀點的人交流,藉此產生一種新的規律、觀念,就像讓整個社群一起進化,從而得到超越過去的優勢。 所以其實面對高中的學習生活,或許會有很多無法預測的未知變數,亦無法了解前路會是如何,但只有堅定的信念及意志力,我們便無需迷惘,因為即使做錯了決定,闖過難關後得到的完全足夠彌補一切,並且令自己在各方面都能變得更堅韌,培養出能夠逆風而行的韌力。

你和我都有美好耀眼的明天 當我提筆想寫這篇分享時,望著這空白的紙張,卻無從開始。中學六年,一開始,我也對自己接下來的六年生活,感到一片空白,不知道自己應該要做些什麼,怎樣利用中學六年時間,甚至於連自己的目標也無從得知。因此,我開始嘗試不同的事物。 鄭榮之這個大家庭,有太多太多的機會給予了我。各式各樣的課外活動、來自師兄師姐的支持、全港性、甚至國際性的比賽。在這裡,我有機會去挑戰自己,走過失敗,達到成功。我在班上擔任過班會主席,也在學會中擔任過幹事的職位。不同的職位有不同的職責,但它們亦有著共通之處,就是讓我盡展潛能。初中的時候,老師給予我足夠的支持,讓我在參與活動、甚至是班上的職位時,亦不會感到無所適從。而到高中之時,老師給予我的不僅是支持,更是充足的自由度,讓我和班上的同學制定旅行日的目的地、交通、甚至是全日的行程。在學會裡,我亦嘗試到和其他幹事一起去計劃下一次活動的內容。在這當中,我得到的不僅是一些如策劃能力等的實用的技巧,更是獲得了與一眾老師、同學之間的牢固的關係。這一班朋友,即使我們在各奔前程的路上不知何時再見,但我相信當我們再相遇,能依舊談天說地,互相支持,猶如最初。 除了參加各種的活動外,學習更是中學一個必不可少的一環。英國哲學家培根曾說:「知識就是力量」。成績不代表一切,但在我看來有一顆熱愛學習的心卻是必須的。而在中學當中,學生的職責就是學習,不僅是為了自己的將來,更是為了身邊所有支持你的人。有能力但不盡力,豈不是浪費?有學生或許認為學習太苦,但當你投身於自己熱愛的學科上,所獲得的成功感、滿足感遠超當中的苦惱。也或許有些同學會苦手於應試上,但有所謂熟能生巧,只要不斷嘗試,終能成功。當然,學習的目的不只在於應試,

更在於提升自己。這個世界很大,能學習的事物也很多很多。學無止境,只要我們找到自己的方向,學習將不會是自己所曾經認為的枯燥無味。有所謂:「學海無涯」,但當你找到屬於自己的航程,你就能義無反顧地踏上征途、乘風破浪、闖出屬於自己的一片天。 當中學六年越更尾聲,我便發覺自己越是不捨。我想要在那紙張上再寫上什麼,卻發現那曾經空白的紙張現在卻密密麻麻的,擁有著不同的色彩,但餘下的空位已不多了。珍惜中學六年,放膽嘗試。當你回首,將會發覺到,這段時光燦爛無比。 而接下來,我亦要面對另一張的白紙 — 大學的生活。但現在的我,腦海裡不再是一片空白,我有的是對未來的憧憬和衝勁,這是鄭榮之這大家庭所給予我的。大學的生活與中學的十分不同,在經歷了近一個月的大學迎新活動後,我已經認識到了。更獨立,更自由,但也更多挑戰。一個階段到另一個階段往往是難以適應,就如同小六升中一那時的我。我曾聽說: 「黎明前是最黑暗的時候,但是千萬別閉眼。在黑暗中移開視線的話,也失去了看到明天光明的機會。只要闖過黑暗,那光明就在眼前。」現在的我,有信心說出我能迎接不同挑戰,並迎接光明。

願意與大家分享 六年的中學生活正式完結,緊接著的就是整整四年的大學生命。在開始這個人生的新階段以先,我亦想簡單總結在中學的大小事和對大學生活的期望。 在中一至中四的時候, 我都係一個無心向學既學生,基本上玩電腦遊戲就是我生命的全部。在中五的時候,我開始意識到文憑試逼近,立志要開始讀書。但我以前懶散的後果亦慢慢浮現 , 當時的我,甚至對文憑試的應考模式也是一知半解。然而此時我才發現原來學校和老師早已為學生們準備了大量的資源,以幫助他們在應付文憑試上更得心應手,例如各科選修科在過往考卷的處理上也非常成熟,分類非常清楚,幫助學生可以更輕意複習過往的考卷。 另外,在考慮到本校文憑試考生的學習氣氛 , 校方在放學時段將小賣部改裝成一個大型的研習空間,令學生在選擇自習空間上可以有更多選擇。然而校方做的並不止如此,考慮到能屆考生的心理狀況,校方亦聘請年上數屆的本校文憑試考生去輔助同學,無論在知識上,考試策略上甚至心理調節上,都令我得益不少。例如有師兄便替我解決了我思索了一整天的物理進階題目。可見考方的政策確實可以幫助學生面對文憑試。 最後,亦感謝校方縱使在要顧及大部份學生的情況下,仍不忘拔尖。校方在課餘時間亦為對有興趣研

習更多的學生準備了不少課程。多虧了這些課程的,幫助了我在文憑試中取得不俗的成績。對於大學生活,本人亦有不少期望。首先,大學與中學最大的差別,就是自由度上的差別。以往在中學,時間表全部皆由校方負責編排,基本上並不需要去考慮時間的分配。相反,大學就是令學生的自由度由 0升至 100,無論是時間的編排,課程的選擇甚至參加不同的學會活動,全部都要由學生自己負責。這無疑是對學生的一大挑戰,如何分辨事情輕重再排列優先次序,是首樣我想在大學生活中學習的素質。我亦相信 , 這是一個人將來在社會工作不可或缺的素質。 最後,不論你是剛升上中學的初中生,還是為了文憑試而苦惱的高中生,都希望你們可以珍惜中學的生命,希望將來能在不同大學看到你們,祝你們前程錦繡!!
