TRANSITION DAY

Tuesday we held our transition day and it is always an exciting day as students work in their 2019 grade with their new teacher and peers. The Preps also got their first taste of a full school day. Our teachers and Wellbeing Team work hard to ensure our grades are balanced with friendship groups and academic needs also considered when we create new grades. There are some families who have recently made a decision to leave EVPS and this has impacted friendship requests. Unfortunately at this stage we are not able to make changes to grades and we have the utmost trust in our teachers ability to ensure

your child has a successful 2019.

3 WAY CONFERENCES

Our 3 Way Conferences were a big success yesterday and it was great to hear our students celebrate their learning with their parents. I was super impressed with how confidently our students were able to articulate their learning and the goals

they had been working on this semester.

ART SHOW

Well done to our Years 3 to 6 students who had Art on display in the Purple and Blue buildings. The Art Show is an important event on our calendar and we’d like to acknowledge all our buddying artists

and their teachers Adele and Leeanne.

GRADUATION

Less than a week to go for our Year 6s until their graduation. Trust me, they have been working very hard on their performances. We know that graduation has created some angst for some families in regards to tickets. We have secured the biggest venue in the local area and with the number of students we have in Year 6, the venue will be at full capacity. Guests will only be able admitted with their ticket, ‘no ticket, no entry’. Please do not forget your tickets as

this policy will be strictly adhered to.

END OF TERM

As we close in on the final days of the 2018 school year we want to remind parents about two

important aspects of the school day:

Assembly 9.30am End of year assembly will

feature our Yearly Value Awards, Performances from each year level and our traditional Year 6 guard of honour farewell. All parents are welcome and this will be held

outside the flagpoles.

Early Finish School finishes at 1.00pm,

please ensure you have made arrangements

for a 1.00pm pick up.

2019

As one year closes, we look forward to the new school year commencing on Thursday January 31 for Years 1 - 6. Our Preps will have their very first day of school on Friday February 1.

WEATHER

Its been a wacky week of weather with several hot days, followed by an extremely wet Thursday. The amount of rain we had today was phenomenal and it did mean our students remained inside today. Today highlights the importance of naming jumpers

as we’ve found many lost jumpers today.

GRADE MOVEMENTS

From tomorrow we will commence moving grades in preparation for the 2019 school year. Your child’s grade will either move Friday or Monday and they will work in that new classroom space until the remainder of the school year. Please be aware that

regular drop offs may be in different rooms.

A big thank you to the parent helpers who have assisted throughout the year in class rooms, working bees, on excursions and with fundraising.

Thank you also to all of those parents who were able to make it to our special morning tea today.

Please let Pauline or the office know if you know of someone in our school

community that we should acknowledge.

1:1 Netbook program for Years 3 to 6:

Families of Year 3 and 4 students in 2019:

There is still time to return the 1:1 Netbook program lease acceptance together with the bond and first payment, so that your child’s new HP Stream Netbook is ready for them when they return to Epping Views Primary in 2019. Families are always welcome to join the program at any time, however Netbooks will not be set up for your child over the holidays if you have not returned the Lease acceptance or payment.

Families of Year 5 and 6 students in 2019:

All Netbooks are in the process of being collected for their annual check-up and servicing over the holiday break. Please ensure that your child is bringing their Netbook in the case every day so that it is able to be inspected and logged for any maintenance

issues.

Thanks, Steve Allen

VICTORIAN PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS TEAM NOMINATIONS 2019

“School Sport Victoria State Team Trial Registrations are open; Australian Football, Netball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Boys Football (Soccer). A minor change to the process for 2019 is Girls Football (Soccer) will not be required to go through stages of selection. All nominees will go straight to State trials. These trial registrations close Friday, 1 March 2019. You can find all the details via School Sport Victoria’s website. http://www.ssv.vic.edu.au/team-vic . If you are looking for a document that details the process please download the “Team Vic Online

Registrations Process. This will give you all the information you need to know

before registering.” Each school is allowed a maximum of 3 students per team mentioned above to attend these trials and the school Principal must first endorse the student’s application to take part in School Sport Victoria’s Gifted and Talented program and the trials are NOT “come and try” opportunities. These trials are for emerging athletes who have reached a certain standard. They are a process for selecting a Team Vic State Team going to School Sport Australia national Championships. Competition for spots is extremely competitive considering teams are chosen from students from right across Victoria.

To be eligible children registering to trial must be turning 10, 11 or 12 years of age in 2019. Please be aware that registration costs $25 per team.

If you are interested in nominating your child, you should present to me in writing outlining your child’s sporting achievements in their selected sport. Please include as much relevant information in your application to the school so that an accurate assessment can be made in regards to whether your child will be nominated or not.

Nominations to the school will close on Thursday February 14th. You and your child will be informed in writing by Thursday February 21st if they have or have not been nominated in their chosen sport.

If you have any further questions please contact me via email: [email protected]

Regards

Sebastian Scanu
