Community Foundations• Began in Cleveland in 1914 by an attorney who

envisioned:

• A singe entity that stewarded the charitable wishes of many different citizens for the “perpetual” benefit of the community.

• Today there are over 700 Community Foundations CFs across the nation. There are approximately 80 CFs in Ohio.

The Foundation began in trust form in 1974 and in 1999 added a second corporate form.
