New Solar Homes Partnership
• Provides financial incentives, technical assistance, and marketing support to new home builders of energy-efficient, solar-powered homes
• Budget of $400 million out of the
$3.3 billion CSI
• Overall goal of the NSHP is to achieve 400 megawatts of new solar-produced electricity by the end of 2016

NSHP Requirements
• Location: Electric distribution service must be from one of the California investor-owned utilities (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E)
• System: System must be 1 kW AC or larger, interconnected to the utility distribution grid, and generate electricity to offset the end-use consumer’s on-site electrical load
• Quality: The system must use new certified components, have a 10 year warranty, and must be field-verified by a third-party inspector
• Energy Efficiency: The new homes must exceed Title 24 energy efficiency requirements
• Tier 1- Exceed Title 24 by a minimum of 15%
• Tier 2- Exceed Title 24 by a minimum of 35% (30% 2008 T-24)
• Builder provided appliances must be ENERGY STAR® labeled

1. Contact the SDG&E NSHP team as early as possible by phone or email at 1-866-631-1744 or [email protected]
2. Hire a Certified Energy Plan Examiner (CEPE) to create the Title-24 energy efficiency documentation http://www.cabec.org/ceperosterall.php
3. Contract with a registered solar contractor http://www.gosolarcalifornia.ca.gov/retailers/search-new.php
4. Hire a HERS rater to perform the energy efficiency and PV verifications http://www.energy.ca.gov/HERS/index.html
5. Work with the solar contractor, CEPE, and HERS rater to submit a completed reservation package to SDG&E
