Buy & Sell “Chance of a Lifetime” (C.O.A.L.) Tickets! By Brother Ben Dadson
Your C.O.A.L. ticket book is included with this issue of the September newsletter. By buying or selling these eight tick-ets ($1 each), you will enable a son or daughter from our Council to be eligible for a Pennsylvania K of C state schol-arship. It’s important that each Brother in our Council pur-chase or sell at least one book of 8 tickets. Proceeds from the C.O.A.L. pro-gram fund the PA State Scholarship from which scholarships are awarded each year—and we all know that the children of our members need all the help they can get to cover their college costs. Our Council also receives a percentage of the proceeds, which are used to fund our many charitable ini-tiatives.
Please try to sell as many books as you can before October 12, because our Council receives a bonus on C.O.A.L. ticket funds returned to the State K of C by that date. However, we will continue to sell books until the deadline of December 1st. The drawing will occur on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 8 PM.
Please help! If you can sell more books, please contact me at 724-388-4092 or [email protected]. You can bring your ticket stubs and payment to a Council meeting—or mail them or drop them off at my home: Ben Dadson, 366 Heritage Run, Indiana, PA 15701
Pay with cash or check (made out to “K of C Council 1481”).

Report of the 4th Degree Father McNelis Assembly #968
As you may have heard, the Supreme Council Board of Direc-
tors and Officers made a decision to change the 4th Degree Re-
galia. There have been many questions and concerns about the
change. As I receive updated information I will pass it along. Here is a link to the
Supreme Website with a picture of the new uniform with some questions and an-
swers about the change.
http://www.kofc.org/en/news/releases/new-fourth-degree-uniform-faq.html
Our Assembly Meeting this month will be on Wednesday, September 27th @ 7:00
PM at the Indiana Lodge. I would like to have, in attendance, as many Sir Knights
as possible to talk about the uniform change and the future of our Color Corp also to
talk about some projects for this Fraternal Year. Your input is requested and needed
for us to be successful.

$25,000 FOOTBALL SWEEPSTAKES It's time again for the exciting Knights of Colum-
bus NFL sweepstakes. This important fundraiser
netted over $1,500 in profit for our Council last year.
It's a fun activity that really requires very little football knowledge. Tickets are
now available and are valid for the last 10 weeks of the regular NFL sea-
son. There are 25 winners each week. That's 250 winners for a total of
$25,000 in cash prizes. Prizes are awarded for the 17 highest scores and
also for the 8 lowest scores. These tickets are easy to sell. Please buy a tick-
et and help sell tickets for this important Council fundraiser.
See Brother Bernie Liscik at the September 13th Council meeting or contact
him at 724-388-4034 to purchase your tickets. During the 10-game sweep-
stakes period, you can check results each week at www.fundcrazr.com
2017 Knight of the Year
Congratulations to Brother Tom
Pearson for being awarded
Council 1481 Knight of the
Year for 2016/17.
Tom is a deserving knight who
has given a lot of time and ef-
fort toward making our Council
successful. He was instrumental
in our Council being award “Star Council” from
Supreme for the first time. He has made several
additions to our council that has distinguished
our organization in the community. I would also
thank Dave Miller and Greg Zawrotny for being
our other nominees which is an honor in itself.

This fall’s 40 Days for Life Campaign will take place from September 27 through November 5. Christians throughout the world will participate in this peaceful international campaign, which occurs simultaneously in all 50 states, in 714 cities and 44 nations!
Join this Pro Life initiative that has resulted in 13,305 lives being saved, 154 workers in abortion
facilities leaving their jobs, and 89 abortion facilities being closed. Help us to UNITE in prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil, held every day from 7 AM to 7 PM in front of Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinic at 933 Liberty Av-enue in Pittsburgh. Your prayerful presence there could save a life or even a soul from the
devastation caused by abortion!
Members of our Council will travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, October 4, to be part of this important Pro-Life effort. All are welcome to join us. We will leave from St. Bernard’s (upper parking lot) at 8:15 AM and return at approxi-mately 3:00 PM. Transportation will be provided. Please contact Brother Bill Ager at 724-465-4522 for more infor-mation or to make your reservation to join our group.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST Sept. 24 at St BERNARD! September has arrived and that means back to school, the
kick-off of Steeler football and, of course, K of C pancake
& sausage breakfasts.
The first breakfast will be held on Sunday, September 24,
at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church after both the 7:30 and
9:30 morning Masses.
Volunteers are needed to set up, clean, cook, wash dishes, and serve food
and drinks.
You can sign up at the September Council meet-
ing or call Greg Zawrotny at 724-349-2509.
Please invite your family and friends to attend.
All donations are appreciated and the event bene-
fits the charitable programs conducted by our
Council.

Plan to attend "Forming Households of Faith," a
special family-centered program and celebration,
on Sunday, October 1, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at
the K of C lodge. This new family enrichment initi-
ative is in response to requests from Knights of
Columbus and others to provide practical ways
for enriching and improving the quality of life of
Catholic families.
Directed by fellow Knight, Father Donald Conroy, the pro-
gram is designed to help Catholics become active in their
homes and their parish community by learning
new approaches to successful family living. It will
be followed by a family-style celebration with
food, drinks and fun activities.
Come and bring the whole family
and your friends to the Council
Lodge on Oct. 1. RSVP by calling
Br. Bill Ager, program coordinator at 724-465
-4522.

LIFE INSURANCE MYTH #1:
I'm single. I don't need any coverage.
Fact: Even a single person will leave expenses, including funeral costs and any unpaid debts, which would be passed to other family members.
Contact me today to learn more about our insurance program. Be assured of my prayers.
Call me at 951 901-0803 (Yes, it is a California area code. So when it pops up on your home phone, don't be afraid to pick up and say hi!). You can also email me — [email protected]
