Swimming Carnival Last Thursday 2 March our 3 to 6 students and a number of year 2 students who turn 8 this year attended our swimming carnival at Waves Pool Baulkham Hills. Thank you to Miss Blanch for organising your first carnival and to all the students who participated. I congratulate the 18 students who have qualified to represent our school at the Zone carnival. All the best for todays events to those students competing at the Zone Carnival at Blacktown Aquatic Centre. School Leader Initiatives Our school leaders will be involved in a number of initiatives in the following week to assist in the development of their leadership skills. Yesterday the leaders and I participated in the Grip Leadership Conference at the Olympic Sports centre at Homebush. We travelled by train and got the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and participate in fun activities aimed at improving leadership skills. On Monday 12 March Ms Ricketts and the school leaders will travel by private transport to Longneck Lagoon near Pitt Town to participate in a day of problem solving and team work. Finally, for the time being the Captains and Vice Captains will participate in a 2-day leadership program being run by the Blacktown Learning Community at Quakers Hill Public School. Enjoy your leadership development days and make the school proud! Kiss and Drop As our school continues to grow the number of parents using Kiss and Drop has also grown so please ensure that you are patient waiting in the line of traffic. The traffic moves quickly and the kindergarten students are quickly learning to be independent with putting seat belts on. Please encourage your children to make their way quickly to the Kiss and Drop zone as you will need to go and park if you have to wait for longer than 2 minutes. Harmony Day This year we are celebrating harmony Day on Thursday 30 March and due to a rather full calendar this term it will be a low key event. The students may dress in something orange and we will have a school picnic lunch up on the oval. We are hoping to celebrate our community and the cultures that help to make our school by having a Multi-Cultural day later in the year. Easter Parade/Grandparents Day Our Easter Parade and Grandparent Day is fast approaching on Friday 7 April. It is one of our major community celebrations. In the morning we invite the grandparents into the classrooms and then they enjoy a scrumptious morning tea supplied by our families. Grandparents, parents and students get the opportunity to visit the Book Fair to purchase books to keep or donate. After morning tea, we have our Easter Hat Parade, followed by a sausage sizzle lunch. I look forward to seeing all of the amazing hat creations this year. High School Forms All high school forms need to be returned to school by Friday 17 March. P & C annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting of the Seven Hills North P & C will take place on Tuesday 14 March @ 7.30pm in the school staffroom. Spider Drink Day We would like to say a big thank you to the students and parents who helped to make spider drink day such a success in excess of $600 was raised which is a great start to Year 6 fundraising for this year. A special mention needs to me made to Mr Burns who organised donations from McDonalds and Aldi for the day. Our biggest thanks for the day goes to those businesses that where willing to lend a hand MdDonald’s at Seven Hills and Doonside for donating all the cups, straws, spoons and ice-cream cones, and Aldi at Seven Hills for donating some ice-cream and soft drinks. Library Gossip

Arrgh me hearties!!

Join us and walk the plank on Friday 7 April. Our Book Fair is fast approaching where all our books are treasure. I can’t wait to see all our Bookaneers raid our library to gather the treasure on offer. Remember, any purchases made at our Book Fair are a benefit for our school as we receive a commission from all monies spent. Easter is in the middle of the school holidays. Why not give a book as an Easter present rather than chocolate? It can be a special memory of Easter. Look forward to seeing all of you at our Fair, Captain Scarlett Sinai

P&C NEWS

Volunteers Needed Seven Hills Bunnings BBQ Please keep in mind that the P&C will be

running a Bunnings BBQ on Sunday 26

March @ Seven Hills.

Our BBQ’s are usually a great fundraiser

and we ask for your support by volunteering

some time. A roster with times available and

information for the day

is set up on the

Community Noticeboard

as you enter the school,

your assistance would be

greatly appreciated.

HARMONY DAY—30 March 2017

Harmony Day is a day where we celebrate all the

cultures that Australia has and we recognise these

differences but we understand that we are all

“Australian”.

This year we will be conducting Harmony Day on

Thursday 30 of March.

All children are welcome to wear orange clothes

as a mufti to celebrate this day.

Children will be involved in a big picnic lunch

on the oval with all of their friends (just pack a

normal lunch for your kids or maybe something

a little special).
