7th International SymposiumROCKBOLTING AND ROCK MECHANICS IN MINING

AIMS - Aachen International Mining Symposiawelcomes you to the

Sponsoring Partners:RAG Mining Solutions GmbHMinova CarboTech GmbHHilti Aktiengesellschaft

Dear Participants,

it is an honor and a great pleasure for me, as head of the Institute of Mining Engineering I at the RWTH Aachen University and as chairman of the Executive Committee of AIMS, to invite you to the 7th International Symposium “Rockbolting and Rock Mechanics in Mining” within the “Aachen International Mining Symposia” (AIMS) series.

The AIMS series has come to be recognized by the mining and minerals society as a leader in promoting the international transfer of information on latest technologies, developments in research and overarching questions related to the minerals and mining industry. The AIMS Symposia, dealing with topics from the fields of “High-Performance Mine Production”, “Rapid Mine Development”, “Rockbolting in Mining” and “Sustainable Development in the Minerals Industry (SDIMI)” have been organized on an annual basis since 1987.

About 60 presentations will be the showcase of a unique combination of hands-on industrial experience, institutional aspects and research developments in the field of Rockbolting and Rock Mechanics in Mining. High-ranking managers and decision makers from international companies, governmental institutions, research institutions and academia from Africa, Asia, Australia, North America and from all over Europe will discuss and present their work and experiences to more than 350 participants.

In the heart of the imperial city of Aachen, both the exhibition – a platform for the technology and service providers of the mining and minerals sector – as well as the dinner party in the historical Aula Carolina will offer ample opportunity to make new contacts and renew old ones.

At this point, I would like to thank a large number of people for their help organizing such an event. This includes authors, presenters, chairmen and the companies who support us in various ways. In particular I would like to thank our sponsors RAG Mining Solutions GmbH, Minova CarboTech GmbH, Hilti Aktiengesellschaft and Sandvik Mining and Construction Central Europe GmbH.

We hope that you will be able to join us at the Symposium, and look forward to extending a warm welcome to all delegates and affiliates.

Take a look at the preliminary program – I look forward to seeing you in Aachen!

MOTIVATION

Within the framework of AIMS (Aachen International Mining Symposia) the Institute of Mining Engineering I is pleased to announce the

Since the first AIMS Symposium on Rockbolting in Mining in the year 1987, the Symposium has become a regular meeting of international ground control and rockbolting experts. In many cases, successful rockbolting application is enhanced through attention to detail. Benchmarking between different mining operations and sectors can point out areas which have potential for improvement. The Symposium continues to provide a platform for knowledge exchange between international representatives of mining,
