Materials:Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercer-ized Crochet Size 30 White, Ecru, or Boilfast solid or shaded colors. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7, 8 or 9.

Ch 8, join in ring, ch 3 (to count as d c), 2 d c in ring, ch 3, 3 d c in ring (this completes a shell). * Ch 3, turn, make a shell over center of preceding shell as follows: 3 d c, ch 3, 3 d c. Ch 2, d c in last d c of preceding shell. Ch 5, turn. 1 d c over ch-2, ch 2, shell over shell, ch 3, turn. Make shell, ch 2, d c in last d c of preceding shell, ch 2, d c in next ch-2, ch 2, d c in 3rd ch at end. Ch 5, turn. 3 times make d c and ch-2 as before, shell over shell. Repeat from * for length needed. Heading row: Make 1 s c in each ch loop with ch-6 between. Edge row: S c in loop at inner end of point. In each of next 2 loops make 1 s c, 2 d c, 1 s c. In loop at outer point make 1 s c, 5 d c, 1 s c. Make loops at other side of point to match 1st side.
