Open in 1980, the Taltsy museum is conveniently situated on the road between Lake Baikal and IrkustIt show houses and way of life in Siberia , some were built from larch tree, more than 300 years ago, without nails

It is an attempt to preserve the old Siberian, pre-russian architecture

The territory of the museum occupies an area of 67 hectares.

The old buildings have been saved from different parts of Siberia

There are more than 40 historical-architectural monuments and about 9,000 items which are of significant historical value

Some of them were rescued when the water of Angara river rose due to the built hydropower plant

The exhibition gives an idea of conditions of life and cultural features of peoples who inhabited the Baikal region in 19th - beginning of 20th centuries
