GIPSA-lab is a joint research unit of the CNRS (Institute for Information Sciences and Technologies-INS2i, Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences-INSHS), of Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP) and Université Grenoble Alpes. It also has a partnership with the French national institute for computer science and applied mathematics (Inria).GIPSA-lab has a research team accredited by the Science of the Universe Observatory in Grenoble (OSUG) and 6 teams are members of the Federative research group in Cognitive Sciences.

Experimental platformsGipsa-lab is equipped with 1000 m² of experimental platforms and technical supports for the development of prototypes. They are dedicated to our research areas including the observation of multimodal scenes, brain/machine interaction, speech and gesture production (2 anechoic chambers), electromyography, biomechanics, speech aeroacoustics, humanoid robotics, mobile robotics, mechanical and electromechanical systems. GIPSA-lab also performs data measurements on natural sites especially for remote sensing (Glacier d’Argentière, Chamonix Valley), for underwater acoustic or for real-time recording of traffic data (south ring of Grenoble).

GIPSA-lab is a member of the euRobotics Association and a partner of ROBOTEX, the national network of Robotics platforms. Plateforms hosted by GIPSA-lab within this network are in the field of Mobile robotics and Humanoid robotics.
