History

Legend has it that the king wanted to pay tribute to his wife, making a gift to show his love for her.

The gardens were built in the city carrying large rocks, which unlike the bricks used in construction at the time, were more resistant to moisture.

They sat forming terraces, where he placed the necessary land and began planting trees, shrubs, plants and flowers

Garden's Decadence

With the fall of Babylon, the gardens were  abandoned. When Alexander came to town in the fourth century BC, the gardens were already partially ruined and totally abandoned. Finally, the gardens were destroyed by King Euhemerus in the year 125 BC

These are hollow and filled with earth to allow trees of the largest size to be planted. The pillars, the vaults, and terraces are constructed of baked brick and asphalt."

*The gardens were located next to the royal palace. Right next to the river, and the people could see it.

*In the highest part of the garden was the water.
