SITREP Rainfall Status of Tharparkar and Badin Districts August 11, 2019 Monsoon in Sindh: Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in some area of Sindh like Karachi and Hyderabad. It was started from 9 August and has been remained occasionally continue till today 11 August. Few days before, Chief Minster also declared a notification for upcoming situation after PMD rain forecasting. Rain Forecasting from PMD: Under the influence of current weather system widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm is expected in Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions from Friday (evening/night) to Monday (morning). Isolated moderate to heavy falls are also expected in lower Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions from Friday (night) to Sunday. All concerned authorities were advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures during the forecast period. Rainfall Status of Tharparkar and Badin Districts

August 11, 2019

Monsoon in Sindh:

Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in some area of Sindh like Karachi and Hyderabad. It was

started from 9 August and has been remained occasionally continue till today 11 August. Few

days before, Chief Minster also declared a notification for upcoming situation after PMD rain

forecasting.

Rain Forecasting from PMD:

Under the influence of current weather system widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm is expected in

Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions from Friday (evening/night) to

Losses and Damages:

Overall there was not observed a big loss but it’s very big loss for owners of livestock some huts,

Chwnra were damaged partially.

Two children drown in the river at Village

Bhatian Ji Veri in Taluka Islam Kot. Drowning in

rivers are very rare cases, due to high intensity

of rain made accumulated high amount water in

rivers and drown a children. It’s general that rain

of villages was with very high intensity but

unfortunately it’s not being measured at rural

areas but it’s only being measured of city that

denotes whole area

Three cows are being reported dead due to sky

lightening stroked at vee Hingorja

Taluka Diplo:

13 goats are being reported dead due to

lightening stroked over flock of goats at village

Kournalyo

No any accident recorded in rest of talukas

Badin District:

District Badin Government has declared emergency and

has directed to District level stakeholders not go for Eid

holidays. During last 42 hours average rain fall is more

than 200 mm. Different rural & urban low-lying parts of district inundates as it experiences uninterrupted

torrential downpour continues the 24 hours.

According to the reports received from different sources, residents of different cities and towns including Bhugra Memon, Seerani, Behdmi, Ahmed Raju, Kadhan, Luwari Sharif, Tarai, Golarchi, Nindo, Shadi-large, Khoski and others cities and towns of district including various area of Badin were lashed with continued heavy rain on Friday and Saturday. The uninterrupted torrential downpour which started on Saturday morning has created a much difficult situation to the residents. Meanwhile, the intermittent spell of rain would continue for the next 24 hours, the MET office had said. The different low-lying areas such as Seerani, Behdmi, Kadhan, Ahmed Raju, Shadi large and others were inundated with reports of water entering in homes. Reportedly, the challenging conditions caused by the relentless rain which is now posing the threat to residents. People urge Govt authorities to assure the drainage of water as a prerequisite for the safe. “Our teams are available round the clock to restore and handle any localized faults. We regret the inconvenience and are grateful for your patience in this regard,” district administration apprised. MET office says it has recorded 115mm rain in the last 24 hours in Badin.

Precautionary measures:

The following precautionary measures are suggested to community for their safety purpose; a) Keep livestock in houses b) Cover vulnerable houses by any plastic or other safe material c) More Care for persons with different abilities and elders d) Close coordination with line departments and Civil Society organization e) Take regular update from social media or other resources (Radio etc) f) Coordinate with nearby communities in case of any emergency situation g) Keep important contact numbers written on a paper, with themselves Pictures
