Project opening ceremony & signing the MoUs with the stakeholders

Proceedings of the activity:

Mr Iqbal Hyder Chairman Indus Consortium welcomed to all the participants while Ms. Fiza Naz Qureshi, Manager Program Implementation gave presentation about the major objective of the projects and its main activities.Mr. Nazir Ahmed Memon, General Manager Transition Sindh irrigation and drainage authority (SIDA) said that water governance is very important issue and Indus Consortium is working since many years on this. He said the efforts of Indus Consortium have made improvement in governance at Akram Wah canal Badin. He extended the support of SIDA to Indus Consortium in current project.Mr. Aijaz Ali Shah Exn irrigation Department said that it’s misfortune that we allege only the absences of the departments but ignored the strength of the same departments. He added the water is being theft by the influential of the areas, which hampers in providing due share of water. He ensured Indus Consortium that irrigation department is on board for the project and will support it for the achievement of the objectives.

Professor Dr. Ismail Kumbhar, Director University & financial assistant, Sindh Agriculture University Tando jam, while addressing the members said that this is important thing Indus Consortium has incorporated “knowledge building” aspect in the project. The designing of course on water governance will be good aspect and engagement of youth will give benefit to project as well youth and communities both.Mr. Fida Hussain Mandhro, member District council Badin, Mr. Saifullah Notiyar, Chaiman Old UC Shaheed Rani, Mr. Sultan Ahmed Junejo, and Chairman UC Pir Fateh Shah Old Seerani, Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Khoso, Deputy District Officer, and Social Welfare Department Badin also talked and appreciated the efforts of Indus Consortium on water governance.
