How to Survive a Petrel Implementation...- for those who have implemented or are thinking of implementing Petrel. Petrel is the lead application in the thoughts of subsurface geoscientists and engineers. Petrel is increasingly beingconsidered as the ‘backbone’ or ‘platform’ around which a company’s technical systems environment is built. This interactiveworkshop examines what it takes to extract the business value from a highly technical software implementation. Thoughimplementing Petrel is relatively straightforward, the value from the software implementation is only apparent whencustomers find and develop more hydrocarbons. There can be years between these two stages but, if the cycle is shortened, the value of the software and other support services increases. This workshop examines the challenge of how to get morequickly to the value.

Workshop Overview:This workshop introduces the fundamentals of document control good practice. After introducing the basic concept ofdocument control, the workshop develops the concepts, discusses the risks and issues, requirements for an effectivesystem and ways to improve the current document control processes within your organisation. Delegates will also beintroduced to some of the wider issues that can impact the levels of success when operating document control systemsand approaches At the end of this workshop delegates will leave with a thorough introduction of the need and concepts ofdocument control, how to create Document Control processes and make improvements.

Agenda:8.30 Registration and coffee 9.00 Introducing Document Control

• Introducing the concepts• Document management, records management

and document control• Why document control?• Risks and issues• Case studies of poor document control

10.00 What needs to be controlled• Version control and document numbering• Impact of external authorities and regulations• Introduction to ISO 9001 quality system • Standards and deliverables

11.20 Coffee break 11.40 Making Improvements

• Getting help and guidance• Putting together an improvement plan• Why improvements fail• Managing progress• Establishing control• Sustaining control
