School Cross Country

Last Friday afternoon saw all our grade 3-6 students participate in the school’s cross country event. This was the first time in many years that the school has staged a cross country race and it was great to see all the children try their best to complete the three laps of the circuit. As a result of their efforts the top five place getters in each of the three age groups will be representing the school at the Western Valley cross country event at Newborough East Primary School next Friday, May 23rd.

1500m races

On Monday, 15 of our students took part in the Western Valley 1500m races at

the Joe Carmody athletics track at Newborough. All students are to be

congratulated on their efforts, particularly the ability to run or jog the entire

1500 metres. Congratulations to Deegan Benson who won the 11 year old

boys race, Jake Daly who came second in the 11 year old boys race, Callan Hawkett who came fourth

in the 9/10 boys race and Shannon Anderson who came fifth in the 12/13 boys race. Deegan and Jake

now represent the school at the Division athletics carnival in September. Well done to all.

PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE, 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I will be running the Reading Challenge again this year, if your child/children wish to participate they can request a “Parent Information” letter from me next week. When you have filled in the Permission Form and returned it to me in the Library I will provide a ‘Tally Sheet’ for each child and register them on-line.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is always a great way of engaging children in Reading.

Thank you,

Mrs Jenny Jones, Teacher-Librarian and Reading Challenge Co-ordinator.

Recently, Oshcare had a camp out day with students making a make shift tent and

experiencing some bush cooking. Entertainment was also provided by one of the campers.

Time to pitch the tent!! Next it’s time to prepare a delicious outdoor meal.

Can you guess who this entertainer is? Time for some clowning around!
