To the Newly Confirmed, Their Parents and Sponsors,

May the God of Peace illuminate your hearts and strengthen your spirits!

My warmest greetings to all of you who were confirmed on the day before Pentecost. It was my joy and privilege to invoke upon you the Holy Spirit who sealed you by the Sevenfold Gifts. Indeed, the preparations that you undertook over the last year were rather unusual due to online meetings that prevented us from seeing each other in person and almost made us strangers to one another. Things happen for a reason. We were tried and challenged. We survived and persevered. I can only hope that the Sacrament of Confirmation that we celebrated last weekend bears much fruit in making you spiritually reverent, pious, knowledgeable of the things of heaven, inwardly strong, prudent in making decisions, and always seeking to make God the center of your life.

Know then, my dear young people, that God’s grace is bestowed upon you through the Sacraments. We are given the access to deepen our relationship with God by choosing to grow in the grace that can transform our being into God’s image and likeness. Choose to cultivate the grace of God by constantly communicating with Him through prayer. Go into the inner room of your heart before you begin the day to offer Him everything that you would do and intend to accomplish. Seek His Will and guidance. Thank Him before you close your eyes at the end of the day as you recollect all the good things that happened to you and ask for pardon for whatever shortcomings and failings that you have committed against His Love. Develop the habit of meditating on the Word of God. Read the Bible. We can only know the depths of God's Love when we choose to encounter Him in His Word. As Jesus said, “We do not live on bread alone but on every Word that comes from God.” Remember always to participate in the life of the Church. Come to Mass regularly, get involved in our parish devotions, contribute your time and your talents to the social events that our parish puts together throughout the year. Remember that the sacramental graces we have each received must be nurtured and must grow within us so we can achieve the dreams that God has for each one of us.

Mi más cordial saludo para todos ustedes que fueron confirmados el día antes de Pentecostés. Fue un gozo y un privilegio para mí invocar sobre ustedes al Espíritu Santo que les selló con los Siete Dones. De hecho, los preparativos que emprendieron durante el último año fueron bastante inusuales debido a las reuniones en línea que nos impedían vernos en persona y casi nos hacen extraños. Las cosas pasan por una razón. Fuimos probados y desafiados. Sobrevivimos y perseveramos. Solo puedo esperar que el Sacramento de la Confirmación que celebramos el fin de semana pasado dé mucho fruto al hacerles espiritualmente reverentes, piadosos, conocedores de las cosas del cielo, interiormente fuertes, prudentes en la toma de decisiones y siempre buscando hacer de Dios el centro de sus vidas.

Sepan entonces, queridos jóvenes, que la gracia de Dios se les concede a través de los sacramentos. Se nos da el acceso para profundizar nuestra relación con Dios al elegir crecer en la gracia que puede transformar nuestro ser a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Elijan cultivar la gracia de Dios comunicándose constantemente con Él a través de la oración. Vean a la habitación interior de sus corazones antes de comenzar el día para ofrecerle todo lo que harían y pretenden lograr. Busque su voluntad y guía. Agradézcanle antes de cerrar los ojos al final del día mientras recuerdan todas las cosas buenas que les sucedieron y pida perdón por las deficiencias y fallas que haya cometido contra Su Amor. Desarrollen el hábito de meditar en la Palabra de Dios. Lean la Biblia. Solo podemos conocer las profundidades del Amor de Dios cuando elegimos encontrarnos con Él en Su Palabra. Como dijo Jesús: “No vivimos solo de pan, sino de toda Palabra que viene de Dios”. Recuerda siempre participar en la vida de la Iglesia. Vengan a Misa con regularidad, participen en las devociones de nuestra parroquia, contribuyan con su tiempo y sus talentos a los eventos sociales que nuestra parroquia organiza durante todo el año. Recuerden que las gracias sacramentales que hemos recibido cada uno deben ser nutridas y deben crecer dentro de nosotros para que podamos lograr los sueños que Dios tiene para cada uno de nosotros.

Confirmation reach its purpose. Our Confirmation of the Sevenfold Gifts of the Holy Spirit is meant to make us living witnesses of the Life of Jesus who was raised from the dead. These, your children, need your assistance and guidance so they can achieve the power of grace that emanates from the Sacraments. They need your conviction and example to be the flesh and bone of your Profession of Faith and the promises that you have made during your own Baptism. Your discipleship has its own fulfillment when you intend to influence these young people to live our Faith according to the hope of the first disciples. You, as Parents and Godparents, together with our parish community, planted the seed of faith in each of these young people. The seed must grow, and it can only happen when the soil is fertile, when it is watered and nurtured. I ask you to make that seed of faith grow meaningfully through your willingness and dedication by sorting out your priorities and by making God the first One who should get the best of your time, the best of your gifts and the best of your talents.

I am committed to walk with you as your spiritual companion. Our journey in this world is rather short and requires much of our consciousness to be convinced of our devotion to Christian discipleship. Know that you are in my prayers. Know that I care for your spiritual well-being. Know that my exhortations are meant to encourage you so that all of us will continue to aim at choosing to be saved by Jesus through His Passion, Death and Resurrection as we continue to celebrate the Holy Eucharist. Our common goal is to enter into God’s Kingdom, and we can only successfully achieve this goal by being mindful that as God’s grace is freely given, we also choose our transformation and conversion through our free cooperation with His grace.

Again, my sincerest congratulations to all of you. I hope to see you at Holy Mass in the coming weekends.

Padres y padrinos, ustedes juegan un papel particularmente importante en hacer que la gracia del Sacramento de la Confirmación alcance su propósito. Nuestra Confirmación de los Siete Dones del Espíritu Santo está destinada a convertirnos en testigos vivos de la Vida de Jesús, que resucitó de entre los muertos. Estos, sus hijos, necesitan su ayuda y guía para que puedan alcanzar el poder de la gracia que emana de los sacramentos. Necesitan que su convicción y su ejemplo sean la carne y el hueso de su profesión de fe y las promesas que has hecho durante su propio bautismo. Su discipulado tiene su propio cumplimiento cuando intenta influir en estos jóvenes para que vivan nuestra Fe según la esperanza de los primeros discípulos. Ustedes, como padres y padrinos, junto con nuestra comunidad parroquial, plantaron la semilla de la fe en cada uno de estos jóvenes. La semilla debe crecer y solo puede suceder cuando el suelo es fértil, cuando se riega y se nutre. Les pido que hagas que esa semilla de fe crezca de manera significativa a través de su disposición y dedicación, clasificando sus prioridades y haciendo de Dios el primero en sacar lo mejor de su tiempo, lo mejor de sus dones y lo mejor de sus talentos.

Me comprometo a caminar contigo como su compañero espiritual. Nuestro viaje en este mundo es bastante corto y requiere que gran parte de nuestra conciencia esté convencida de nuestra devoción al discipulado cristiano. Sepa que está en mis oraciones. Sepa que me preocupo por su bienestar espiritual. Sepan que mis exhortaciones están destinadas a alentarlos para que todos sigamos apuntando a elegir ser salvados por Jesús a través de Su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección mientras continuamos celebrando la Sagrada Eucaristía. Nuestro objetivo común es entrar en el Reino de Dios, y solo podemos lograr este objetivo con éxito si somos conscientes de que, como la gracia de Dios se da gratuitamente, también elegimos nuestra transformación y conversión a través de nuestra cooperación libre con Su gracia.

Nuevamente, mis más sinceras felicitaciones a todos ustedes. Espero verles en la Santa Misa los próximos fines de semana.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION On Sunday, June 6th, the 12:00pm Mass will be bilingual to accommodate the Religious Education students who will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. There will be a procession after the Mass. Please join us! Please note that Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Vespers will be on Saturday, June 5th, after the 5:00pm Mass, for that weekend only instead of the usual Sunday schedule.
