Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock

You use this business process to scrap damaged stock detected in the warehouse. You change the stock type of the damaged stock so that it is not available for sale anymore. In this process, you use a warehouse order (WO) to move the stock to a scrapping container in the scrapping zone. The WO is carried out using a mobile device or paper. A background job runs regularly to empty the scrapping zone. A truck arrives to pick up the scrapping container.

You can also use this business process to scrap stock due to expired best-before date/shelf life expiration date (BBD/SLED).

The following figure illustrates the correlation between the physical process and the manual or automatic activities in the system:

Page 8: Solution Manager Content for Unplanned ... - wiki.scn.sap.com

This process does not use the following functions:

Warehouse requests for posting changes

Outbound delivery orders (to empty the scrapping zone)

For more information about the configuration prerequisites, see Configuration of Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock [Page 11].

Process

The business process runs in SAP EWM as follows:

1. Create posting changes and WOs (EWM)

Variant A: A warehouse clerk receives the information about damaged stock in a certain storage bin from coworkers or from a picking supervisor. He or she chooses the stock for the products in that storage bin and creates posting change documents. When the posting change documents are created, the system changes the stock from unrestricted-use stock to scrapping stock so that it is not available for sale anymore. At the same time, the system creates warehouse tasks (WTs) and WOs to move the stock to the scrapping zone. For scrapping using radio frequency (RF) devices, the system sends the WOs to an RF queue. For paper-based scrapping, the system prints the WOs automatically.

Variant B: In the case of scrapping due to an expired BBD/SLED, the warehouse clerk first chooses expired stock in the warehouse management monitor. He or she then navigates to the posting change transaction to create posting change documents as described above.

2. Move the goods to the scrapping zone (EWM)

In the case of RF-based scrapping, a warehouse worker chooses a vehicle and logs on as a resource that is assigned to the scrapping queue. The system guides the warehouse worker to the source bin of the first WT. The warehouse worker picks the requested quantity of the product and puts the product onto the vehicle. He or she scans the source bin to verify the data and enters the quantity. After the value of all fields on the source screen have been verified, the warehouse worker is prompted to bring the picked goods to the scrapping zone. When he or she arrives at the scrapping zone, he or she scans the destination bin to confirm the scrapping WT in the system. If the warehouse worker finds a quantity smaller than the requested quantity in the storage bin, he or she enters an exception code in his or her mobile device and records the quantity difference in the WT by entering the quantity he or she has actually picked. When the WT is confirmed, the system reduces the scrapping stock in the source bin by the difference quantity. After the confirmation of the WT, the warehouse worker proceeds with carrying out the next WT displayed on his or her mobile device.

In the case of paper-based scrapping, the warehouse worker goes to the internal office and picks up the printouts of the WOs. He or she goes to the storage bin where the product is to be picked. He or she moves the product to the scrapping zone. If he or she finds a quantity smaller than the requested quantity in the storage bin, he or she writes the quantity on the printout. After the physical move of the product, the warehouse worker brings the printout of the WOs to the internal office. The warehouse clerk confirms the WOs in the system.

3. Empty the scrapping zone (EWM)

A background job runs regularly to empty the scrapping zone in the system. The system communicates the goods issue to SAP ERP.

Page 10: Solution Manager Content for Unplanned ... - wiki.scn.sap.com

SAP Library

Solution Manager Content for Unplanned Scrapping Due to Dama 2013_SP36 10

As an alternative, you can manage the stock in the scrapping zone in the system until the scrapping container is picked up. In this case you do not plan a regular background job to empty the scrapping zone. You empty the scrapping zone manually in the next step.

4. A truck arrives and takes the scrap away

A truck arrives and picks up the scrapping container.

Configuration of Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock

You use this process to configure the business process Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock [Page 7].

You can use this configuration process in the following warehouses in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM):

Standard warehouse W001 with preconfigured business processes

This is the recommended way of getting started with EWM. For more information, see the business scenario Warehouse Management with Preconfigured Processes [External].

Your own warehouse

To set up the preconfigured business processes in standard warehouse W001, implement all

configuration steps except the steps marked with Optional. These steps help you to understand the configuration of the processes but do not require a manual activity.

To configure the processes in your own warehouse, implement all configuration steps. In the steps marked with Optional, check if you need to adapt the existing entries to your own warehouse and carry out changes as needed.

All configuration steps require activities in EWM unless the documentation explicitly tells you to carry out an activity in SAP ERP.

Following features are covered by this configuration process:

Scrapping from storage types T010, T020, or T050 using radio frequency (RF)

Scrapping from storage type T051 using paper

Prerequisites

For more information, see Configuration of Warehouse Management with Preconfigured Processes [External].

Process

1. Check of Warehouse Order Creation [Page 13] (Optional) 2. Checking Creation of Posting Changes [Page 18] (Optional) 3. Configuring Printing of Warehouse Orders [Page 19] 4. Check of Resource Management and RF Verification [Page 21] (Optional) 5. Scheduling Background Jobs for Posting Goods Issues [Page 24]

Result

You have configured the business process Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock. In

warehouse number W001 you can run the process as described in the Test Case for

Unplanned Scrapping Due to Damaged Stock [Page 25].
