PREAMBLE

A letter from the Faculty Advisor

Greetings from MVPS’ KBT COE!! We are proud to inform you the initiation of SUPRA SAEINDIA® 2011 which is a design

competition organized for engineering students by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) – India. The engineering students are given a target of designing and manufacturing a Formula type race car for non professional weekend racers. The students are expected to build, test and validate the race car restrained under manufacturing standards.

Team FALCONS of our college is a bunch of Engineering Students out to build a Formula Race Car for the Supra SAE competition, the Formula One for students around the world. The team’s passion is not for a race alone. It is fueled by the desire to learn and harness race technology for India that is growing in the international racing scenario. Team Falcons has taken this engineering challenge with a winning spirit. This team has already proved its capability by clearing the scrutiny round of the SUPRA SAEINDIA conducted in August 2010.

Team Falcons is an extremely dynamic and efficient team, seeking intense engineering and leadership challenges. The college is providing machines like Drilling, welding, Lathe, UTM and software Labs for simulation and analysis. The college will be paying the registration fees for the team. The team's Supra SAE project need your support for their fruitful completion, which will eventually go in the education and training of future engineers.

We hope a healthy response from your side for this proposal for the foundation of new engineering trends.

Prof. A. B. Kakade

ABOUT SUPRA SAEINDIA

As stated earlier, this is a design competition organized for engineering students who are fueled with the desire of thinking and working out of the box. The objective of this competition is to make

students encompass all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, developing, manufacturing, testing, marketing, management and finance.

The concept behind SUPRA SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a design team to develop a small Formula-style race car for the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Each team designs, builds and tests a prototype, based on a series of rules whose purpose is to ensure onsite event operations and promote clever problem solving.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

It is a life-time opportunity for students who will be emerging as responsible engineers to explore modern design techniques, using computer simulation and analysis and modern fabrication techniques so as to build a car fast enough to overtake every other on the track. Our aim is to achieve a well deserved position on the dais which will prove our capabilities.

Our efforts will ensure that, soon, every weekend racer in India will be able to own an autocross race car, complete with the latest technology at affordable cost.

Team FALCONS

As the name indicates, ours is an aspiring team proficient of achieving high altitude with respect to overcoming of new emerging challenges in the design and manufacturing and grasping new technologies and methods for building the ultimate racing machine!

The team has already marked its presence during the scrutiny round by giving a glimpse of its potential to the judges by its way of presentation and confidence to build the Race Car.

This team of 25 members is a perfect unification of students from Mechanical and Electronics & Telecommunication stream meant to work hard to realize the goal of winning.

The main departments of this car to be worked on are as follows:
