TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading: Genesis 2:18-24 God created many different animals in an attempt to make a suitable partner for the first man. Then he took a rib from the man as he slept and built it up into a woman. At last God had created someone who equaled the man, as she was “bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh” and they proved to be suitable partners for each other. Second Reading: Hebrews 2:9-11 This passage describes how Jesus will become perfect through his suffering. It also reminds us that Jesus’ Father is our Father as well, making him unashamed to call us his brothers and sisters. Gospel: Mark 10:2-16 The people began to ask Jesus if it was acceptable for a man to divorce his wife. Jesus tells them that two people who have been joined together by God should not be separated. People began bringing their children to Jesus, but the disciples tried to send them away. Jesus grew angry and told his disciples to allow the children to come to him.

Religious Education classes are up and running! It’s been great to see everyone in person. Our classes are now FULL, and we will not be accepting any new students. However, ALL youth of our parish ages 6 to 17 whether enrolled in Religious Education classes, were recently confirmed or are new are welcome to attend any of our community service activities, or our family fun events. PRE-REGISTRATION for these events WILL BE REQUIRED if not already enrolled in class. Contact the Religious Ed office to register. ~Our first event is for the Feast of St. Francis, all classes of Religious Education will be making dog and cat toys for shelter animals who are waiting for their Fur-ever home. Thank you to everyone who donated to our collection.

There are still openings in our RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) class. The BIWEEKLY class is open to students ages, 11-17, who are either unbaptized inquirers, members of other Christian denominations, or baptized Catholics, who have not received the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and/or Confirmation. If you would like to register your son or daughter, please contact the religious education office, for more information at 862-505-4286.

Liturgy of the Word for Children is held weekly during the 10:30 am Mass. This is a special program for children ages 4 through First Grade to come together and learn about Jesus on their own level. Fr. Gio will invite the children to gather, prior to the First Reading and the Children’s Liturgy Catechists will walk the children to the Meeting Room for class. Parents are welcome to attend with any child who might not be comfortable going on their own at first. Catechists will bring the children back into church during collection. Children’s Liturgy is a wonderful opportunity for our youngest Parishioners to begin developing their own relationship with Jesus while affording parents the quiet focus sometimes needed to foster their own. If you would like to become a Children’s Liturgy Catechist, please contact Religious Education.

Parents did you miss the Religious Education parent meeting? A lot of information was shared regarding arrival/dismissal procedures, classroom procedures, fundraisers, community service and family fun. For a brief summary, please go to the St. Clement website and click on the Family Life tab.
