Jesus said to his disciples: “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won over your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that ‘every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses. .If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and what-ever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Today, we hear Jesus say to us, “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” The challenge is to let go so God can lead us. Have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.?

We need some men and strong boys to help set up the church parking lot for the Parish Picnic on Saturday September 6th. The meeting time is 10:00 a.m. (assuming there is no funeral taking place at that time). Tables, chairs and the altar need to be set up. We also need help from 4:00 to 6:30 to help with the set up of food at the picnic. We need help with the serving of food, making the lemonade and iced tea and setting up the desserts. Any one who needs community service for either of the projects, should bring their sheet that day to be signed. If you can help in any way, please call Peggy at 433-8607. Thank you.

AT ALL THE MASSES Please place your coins in plastic containers (that you do not want returned) or plastic bags and please place them in the baskets in front of the altar. This will enable us to purchase some new albs (the white garment that the priest wears under the chasuble). These new albs will replace ones that are worn and beyond repair and are primarily used by the priests who come to St. Ignatius to say Mass.

Our Lady of Fatima Devotions Our Lady of Fatima devotions will be held on Saturday September 6, 2014, at 8:30AM, before the 9AM Mass.

Nocturnal Adoration Society

Nocturnal Adoration will be held this month on Saturday, September 13, 2014. It will begin at the conclusion of the 5:00 PM Mass and end with Benediction at 9:00PM. Come and spend one hour with the Lord Everyone is welcome to join in this vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacra-ment.

¿De qué le sirve ganar el mundo entero...?

Casi sin darnos cuenta, hemos construido una sociedad donde lo importante es «obtenerlo todo y ahora mismo». Una educación excesivamente permisiva, una falta casi total de autodisciplina, un ambiente social lleno de estímulos que nos empujan sólo a ganar, gozar, gastar y disfrutar, el miedo a no vivir intensamente, el temor a apare-cer como fracasados y reprimidos... nos está lle-vando a un estilo de vida donde la renuncia no tiene ya lugar alguno.

El evangelio de hoy nos invita a entender mejor las palabras de Jesús: "¿de qué le sirve a un hom-bre ganar el mundo entero, si malogra su vida? ¿O qué podrá dar para recobrarla?".

Si uno quiere obtenerlo todo ahora, inmediata-mente, a cualquier precio y de cualquier manera, sin abrirse a una vida futura, eterna y definitiva, corre el riesgo de perderse definitivamente. De-bemos entonces introducir en nuestras vidas una dosis mayor de renuncia, sana austeridad y simplicidad en el vivir.

Nunca te olvides de la enseñanza que nuestro Señor te da el día de hoy: "¿De qué le sirve al hombre ganar el mundo entero, si al final pierde su alma?". Recuerda que la vida pasa demasia-

do rápido y que la muerte nos llega de sorpresa, inesperadamente. Cuando la puerta de esta vida se cierra para nosotros, de nada valdrán las lamentaciones.... Piensa en esto por un momento y

no pases de largo ante esta llamada de Dios.....¡¡Pon manos a la obra desde ahora mismo!!

No dejes para después. Ven siempre a la misa y gasta tu vida haciendo el bien.

Family Life Committee

Have you noticed some of the "Family Friendly" activities and events at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish over these recent months? (Family Mass, Night with St. Nick, Easter Egg giveaway etc.) They are put on courtesy of the recently formed Family Life Committee. We have more things planned and we'd love to do bigger and better things for the parish, but our small committee could really use some help! We are looking for people who can help us plan, shop, decorate, and most im-portantly, help out the day of our events. Impor-tant: because we are working with children and families, volunteers must be VIRTUS trained and approved (diocese child safety program). You can check the Diocese of Rockville Centre website www.drvc.org for training dates.
