ACTIVITIES OF SJAM NORTH EAST AREA (Excluding activity organize together with State) The North East Area had an eventful year of activities for the Year 2016. North East Area officers and members from school divisions had involved themselves actively either as organising committee or participants in many activities organized by the North East Area or State level. Visiting to NEA Schools Throughout the year, Officers from North East Area had multiple visit to many school’s divisions for teacher liaison and coaching throughout the year. We would like to thank all the schools for invited us to the event organized by school’s division such as AGM, anniversary or campfire.

Public Duties Officers and members from school divisions performed in many minor or major public duties such as sport events, processions, Penang Turf Club Horse racing, Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon and etc. The North East Area appreciated all the schools’ principals, teacher advisors and officers for being co-operative in allowing their members to perform public duties when their services were needed.

First Aid Examination & Re-examination The North East Area with the co-operations of the State, conducted first aid courses, examinations and re-examinations for the recruits, members and officers. The North East Area thanked the doctors and examiners for their cooperation.

NEA Administrative Workshop

This workshop was successfully organized by NEA on 3rd April 2016 at Wisma St. John Ambulance Penang. The intention of this workshop is to get the divisions under NEA to align with the SJAM Protocols, General Regulation’s requirements as well as the latest administration procedures that introduced by National HQ recently. Total about 55 participants from School and Open Adult Divisions have attended this workshop.

9th Annual Cadet Day

The 9th Annual Cadet Day was successfully organized consecutively since started from Yr 2008. It has become part of the annual ceremonial event where new cadets from various SJAM division will take part and to take their oath to the St. John Cadet Code of Chivalry and hence officially been enrolled as SJAM Cadets under the witness from the Commanders and Officers. The event also continued with Cadet Special Service Shield Award Presentation to cadets who worked hard and successfully accumulated their duty hours. And during the same day, Area HQ also presented prizes to the school divisions who achieved the Year 2015 Top 3 Flag Day Street Collection. Total of 216 new cadets registered for this year.

This year, total of 59 Cadet Special Service Shield and certificates has been awarded to

cadets and members who successfully accumulated their duty hours throughout their service years in SJAM.

Loke Heng Hup from ACCAD has successfully accumulated a total of 1173Hrs of duty hours and he has been awarded with SSS 1000Hrs badge and certificates. Below shows the summary of the SSS award by category.

2015 Basic Life Support CPR Guidelines Updates The 2015 Basic Life Support CPR Updates workshop was successfully organized together with SJAMPP on 9th October 2016 at Seminar Room, Wisma St. John Ambulance Penang. Thanks to Dr. Teo Aik Howe, Dr. Luah Leah Wah and Dr. Kwanhathai Darin Wong as our Speakers / Trainer for this meaningful workshop.

State First Aid & Home Nursing Competition The State first aid & home nursing competition was held on 13th March 2016 (Theory test) and Sunday, 20th March 2016 (Practical test) at Alliance Health Centre of Excellent. Total 16 teams from the North-East area schools are took part in this competition. The results were as follows:

SJAM Annual Flag Day The launching of Flag Day was held on 18th June 2016 at Gurney Paragon. SJAM Annual Flag Day were held on 25th & 26th June 2016. Officers and members from the NEA helped out in the street collections, issuing of tins, counting of money and other duties.
