A Message From the Pastor

St. Louis Family,

From our readings this week, we begin to understand that because of sin, sickness

and death have entered the world. But sin is overcome through the resurrection of

Jesus. He hears the cry of the in need, healing the sick and raising the dead to life.

He made himself poor that we might become rich. May we always give thanks to

our Lord for all that He has done for us.

What a wonderful celebration we had last weekend at Deacon Ron Freyer’s

Ordination and reception. Thanks to Ron for saying yes to the call and to all of

those who made the time to celebrate his great day.

I think I have mentioned before that my mom is in a nursing home. I will be visiting

her and my family in Des Moines, Iowa this week. I’ll be back for next weekend

masses. Have a good week.

Peace,

Fr. Randy

Anniversary during 2012 are invited to the 29th Annual Golden Jubilee Mass at

available in the Forms & Pamphlets Rack in the back of church or in the parish

Scripture From Christ Renews His Parish All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son

except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to

whom the Son wishes to reveal him. “Come to me, all you who labor and are

burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I

am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is

easy, and my burden light.”

Matthew 11:27-30

Religious Education and Sunday School Registrations Due All children in grades K through 12

should be in a formal religion class as

part of their lifelong faith formation

process. Classes are offered on

Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm.

Religion readiness classes for children in

Kindergarten, Pre K (children ready for

kindergarten in fall of 2013), and

Preschool, (children going to

kindergarten in 2014) are offered on

Sunday mornings during the 9:30am

Mass. Registration forms for next year’s

Religious Education Program are located

in the back of church and should be

turned in as soon as possible. Payment

is due by the first class, August 15th. No

child is turned away from Religious

Education classes because of financial

difficulties. If you have a conflict with

the times the program is offered, please

contact Terri Meyer to work out an

alternative. You may reach the religious

education office at 934-3204.

PLEASE REGISTER NOW if you are

interested in any of these classes.

Materials must be ordered now to get

them in time for the first class.

The Family and Parish Partnership Families and parish have a partnership in the responsibility of forming children in

the four pillars of the Catholic faith: creed, sacraments, Christian life and prayer.

A child’s first teachers are his parents. Parents need to participate in the teaching

of these standards, thereby enriching their own faith through catechizing their

children. But by being baptized into the community of faith the entire parish

becomes responsible for the education of these children in the faith. According to

the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “The whole ecclesial community bears some

responsibility for the development and safeguarding of the grace given at

Baptism.”(CCC1255) Are you ready to assist parents in their role as catechists?

Volunteers are needed to help in the religious education program on Wednesday

evenings between 6:30 and 7:45 and on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 Mass

for the preschool program. Assistants are also needed. Please consider sharing

your time and talent with the future of our church. Call Terri Meyer at 934-3204

for further information.

The United States Bishops have asked that the American

people put aside a fortnight - the 14 days from June 21

(the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas

More) to July 4 (Independence Day) and dedicate it as a

“Fortnight for Freedom”—a great hymn of prayer for our

country. The liturgical calendar celebrates a series of

great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of

persecution by political power—St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, St. John the

Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome – during

these 14 days. Culminating on Independence Day, this special period of prayer,

study, catechesis, and public action will emphasize both our Christian and

American heritage of liberty. Prayers, reflections and ideas on how to celebrate

this fortnight can be found on the website: fortnight4freedom.org.

Need Prayer? Prayer needs are addressed in two ways at St. Louis. In the vestibule of church is

a Prayer Request Notebook where anyone, at any time, can write prayer concerns.

The Members of the Prayer and Praise Ministry commit to praying daily for these

intentions. Additionally, on the first Sunday of the month, those requests are

mentioned in the Prayers of the Faithful. For more urgent prayer needs (illness,

surgery, etc.) there is a Prayer Chain that will get dozens of people praying

immediately. To begin the Prayer Chain, please call one of the following:

Janice Werner, 932-9200 ; Erma Hartman, 934-3678; or Viola Fullenkamp, 934-3316

Ministry of Prayer and Praise Intentions for June That as we celebrate the Fourth of July, God will strengthen and bless America

and make our nation a beacon of liberty and justice to the world.

That we may always remember that freedom is the right to follow God’s way,

not the license to do what we want.

That in this season of vacations we may find rest for body and soul in the

beauty of our woods, mountains, lakes and seacoasts, as we discover anew

God’s lavish gifts to us.

That the children of our country may grow in grace and joy, experiencing the

warmth of God’s love for them in the setting of family life.

That those whom God is calling to the priesthood and religious life may

respond eagerly in faith and generosity, and find support in their families and

friends.

That all who suffer from terminal illness may find strength in their oneness

with Christ dying on His cross and in the compassionate love of His Mother

who stood close to Him to the end.

Prayer for a New Archbishop

O God, eternal Shepherd who

governs your flock with

unfailing care, bless the

Church in central and

southern Indiana with a new

archbishop who will please

You by his holiness and show

us your watchful care. We

ask this through our Lord

Jesus, Christ, Your Son, who

lives and reigns with You in

the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
