'Hear the Word of God and Do It'
Living in the Word ̶ ̶ Putting the Word of God into practice
means serving our brothers and sisters in love. To love as Jesus
loved means that we make sacrifices daily for the good of the other.
This typically takes place by the gifts we make of time, talent and
treasure. Let us consider this carefully and seriously. These are
God's gifts to us to be used according to his purpose and in keeping
with our identity as disciples of Jesus Christ.
(Archbishop Smith, Pastoral Letter, September 14, 2017)
Grace this Week
A way to experience Scripture with every meal. Grace with lines inspired by the Readings for March 29.
Leader: Lord Jesus, we thank you for your Word. You ask if we
believe in the Son of Man. (John 9:34-38)
All: We believe in you, Lord, and we worship you.

News from the Archdiocese
The Archdiocese will live stream
link: Sunday Mass at
10:30am from St. Joseph's Basilica
every Sunday.
“Lent in Isolation” Link
Online Resources The Archdiocese has a new page on their website at
caedm.ca/covid where they are posting information and
resources of use during the pandemic. These include
messages from the Archbishop, faith/prayer resources,
and links to the updates that were sent to parishes and
staff. They will be updating regularly.
Watch out for Viral Scams As if it wasn’t bad enough ̶ in the wake of the global
coronavirus pandemic, cybercriminals are sending emails and
designing websites to trick people into clicking on malicious
links. Clicking on these seemingly helpful resources might
actually install malware on your computer, which is designed
to help steal personal data and information from users' systems.
Do not click on any links in these type of email messages! These phishing emails typically use the COVID-19 virus as a
lure in the subject line; the text tries to claim news about the
infections or the virus itself. Some emails claim to be from the
World Health Organization or other reputable organizations.
Some offer a link to a coronavirus map of the recipient's neigh-
bourhood, offers on purchasing a mask or a sanitizer, or an up-
date on how many people have been infected around the world.
If an email asks you to click on a link, a good practice is try
and find another way to validate it. Try to visit only reputable
and trustworthy websites by typing the correct URL into your
browser if you know it, or by using a reliable search engine,
such as Google, to find the site for you. Please note, any
legitimate organization will NEVER ask for your password
via email; that is another sign of scam.
'Think twice before you click!'
What are we to do without the Eucharist?
An Act of Spiritual Communion
Some advice from the Office of Divine Worship:
When we are unable to receive Holy Communion, we can make
a Spiritual Communion as we view a televised or online
Mass. This is a prayer in which we ask our Lord to come
to us in the same way He would if we were able
to receive the Sacrament:
My Jesus,
I believe that You are truly present in the Holy Eucharist.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You
into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there,
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
…….and stay home.
Take care and God Bless.
SACRAMENTS 1st Communion and
Confirmation

Pope Francis Twitter:
In the context of the pandemic that threatens human life and the
global economy, today we reiterate the teaching of
#EvangeliumVitae to transmit the culture of life to future
generations: an attitude of solidarity, care, and welcome.
A Letter to St. Mary’s Parishioners from Father Mirek
March 24, 2020
Dear Family of St. Mary’s,
In an effort to slow and mitigate the COVID 19 pandemic Archbishop Smith communicated to us on March 16 that all
parishes will be closed to public masses until further notice. As much as possible parish offices will continue to be
open to serve the needs of parishioners. As a pastor, supported by Parish staff I wish to accompany you through this
difficult time as much as I can while being conscious of the guidelines provided by Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer. I
pray that the Lord protects us and particularly those who are vulnerable or care for the sick.
I know that these are spiritually and financially challenging times. Nothing is stable at this time, our jobs, businesses
and savings. Our health safety and spiritual strength is a big concern. Especially now we all know and understand that
the primary care and financial responsibility is first to provide for your own home and family. At this time, we look at
each other with compassion and love and raise our eyes to heaven asking for God’s care and providence. As we all
struggle, the same reality applies to the church which relies completely on Her members who offer the fruits of labor to
our Lord and His church in thanksgiving. In this unpredictable time when we do not have our public Celebrations and
gatherings in our church, I am grateful that our faith family cares for our spiritual home and that we receive donations
and support as it is important to realize that many of the everyday expenses to run our parish continue as it is in our
households.
Through this letter we want to respond with the same care and make ourselves available to all those who need assis-
tance and help on a daily basis. The Knights of Columbus and our office are ready to assist especially the elderly in our
community and those who are self isolating at this time. If we can be of service or you have questions or concerns,
please contact our parish office at 403-347-3114.
This letter is being distributed via email, and I would ask that you forward this letter to any other parishioners from
your own contact lists. It is possible people will receive this letter more than once, but the intent is to connect with as
many people as possible.
Please be also assured that you are always in my daily prayers.
In Gratitude,
Reverend Miroslaw Kostarzewski
Pope Francis joins Christian leaders in prayer
for pandemic’s end Joined by Orthodox, Anglican and Protestant church
leaders and faithful from around the world,
Pope Francis led the recitation of the Lord’s
Prayer, imploring God’s mercy on humanity amid
the coronavirus pandemic.
“As trusting sons and daughters, we turn to the Lord.
We do it every day, several times a day, but at this
moment we want to implore mercy for all of humani-
ty so harshly tried by the coronavirus pandemic,” the
pope said March 25 as he introduced the prayer.
“We will do so together, Christians of every church
and community, of every age, language and nation,”
he said. “We pray for the sick and their families, for
health workers and those who help them, for civic
leaders, police and volunteers and for the ministers
of our communities,” the pope said. Holding the
prayer on the Feast of the Annunciation, when the
angel told Mary she would bear God’s son, Pope
Francis said that “with full confidence we, too, place
ourselves in God’s hands, and with
one heart and soul, we pray.”
