Fellow St. Pio Parishioners,

When requesting the anointing of the sick, please do not wait until your loved one is near death to contact our office. This will help ensure that Fr. Greg is available to administer this very important sacrament. “The anointing of the sick is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacra-ment has certainly already arrived (CCC 1514).”

If you have not made your pledge yet - IT IS NOT TOO LATE!

You can make your pledge by mail, drop it in the collection basket,

or visit us at the Parish Office.

Remember that the shortfall will have to be made out of our parish funds.

Celebrating Our Freedom Heavenly Father, you have given us the gifts of life and liberty and entrust to your people the duty to guard these gifts wherever they are threatened. Help us to protect the freedom of all to follow the Gospel of your Son, Jesus Christ, and to bring his light and truth to the ends of the earth. Guide all who play a role in enacting legislation to uphold the freedom of conscience of all citizens. Send us your Spirit to inspire in us the wisdom and courage needed to witness to the truth and to stand up for all whose religious liberty is endangered. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our country, pray for us.

Faith Formation and Youth Ministry News

I hope all had a chance to

look at the pics from VBS.

The children had a great

time and learned so much

about God their creator

and "Maker". They will be looking for

"God Sightings" throughout the

Summer and singing the tunes we

learned by using the CD given to them

from VBS. It was a wonderful week full

of inventions, surprises and fun! We

hope to see all of you again next year!

Please note there are NO High School

Ministry or Young Adult Ministry Meetings during the months of July and

August due to vacations, camps, work

schedules, etc. Please do sign up to help

at the Fun Fest in August to help out

our Parish Community!

Now we are in the midst of preparing

for the Kid's Tent for St. Pio Fun

Fest on August 12 & 13 and we once

again are in need of your help! We are

asking for dolls and cars, any styles, for

our Lollipop Booth. Please drop them in

the tub at the front of church or drop

them to the Faith Formation Office

during our Summer Office Hours.

Thinking About

Joining the

Catholic Church?

Every year in the Archdiocese of Detroit, hundreds of people join the Catholic Church. Since becoming Catholic requires a commitment to God, the Church and a worshipping community, the per-son must enter a process of prepa-ration and discernment. This pro-cess is called the RCIA, an acronym for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.

In the RCIA a person takes a journey with the RCIA Team to learn about and come closer to God. Part of learning about God means that you need to learn about God’s Church. In the RCIA we learn about how the Church was formed, and many of the particulars that are unique to Catholicism.

While learning about Catholicism is essential to the RCIA, it is only part of the process. The most im-portant part of the RCIA is discover-ing, developing, and nurturing your relationship with God. If you feel in your heart that God is calling you, the parish community of St. Pio of Pietrelcina welcomes you!

The RCIA process is open to people who are not baptized, baptized in another Christian faith, or baptized a Catholic but who have never received the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.

We are also asking for Gift Cards in

$5.00 increments to any place a teen

would visit (Examples: McDonald's,

Burger King, Culvers, Dairy Queen, etc.)

These can be placed in the Offertory

Basket at Mass with Kid's Tent written

on the outside of the envelope or also

dropped off to the Faith Formation

Office. We thank You in advance for

your generosity!

We are also in need of workers in the

Kid's Tent area. Please sign up on the list

in the Parish Hall!

All Registrations for Faith Formation

Classes K-8 will begin in August. For

returning students, simply pick up your

Registration Packet after any Mass on

the weekends of August 5 &

6 and August 12 & 13. This will help to

offset the cost of mailing. New

Registrations that have contacted us

already will be available as well. If you

are new to St. Pio and are interested in

receiving a Registration Form for your

child, please call the Faith Formation

Office at 586-777-9116 ext. 5. Classes

begin September 18.

St. Pio Prayer Line

When you call the parish office (586) 777-9116, please wait for the prompt, and then press #1 for the

prayer line. A volunteer parishioner will answer you. The days and times

of this service will be provided on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

between 11:00 am and noon.

The purpose of this prayer line is to pray with/for the caller’s intention and should be brief.

There will not be any type of counseling by the volunteer.

This will be kept confidential.

GOD BLESS YOU!

Please Pray for our Armed Forces

“Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their Families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.”
