FOOD FROM HEAVEN. God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever experienced before. Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven, food that the Jewish people had never experienced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, explaining that he is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

“God so loved the world,” declares John 3:16. “Do not love the world,” warns 1 John 2:15. The “world” to love: this planet, entrusted to our stewardship, and its people, God’s children all. The “world” to flee: “sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life” (1 John 2:16). Born in nobility, Romuald’s conversion followed the shock of witnessing his father murder an enemy. ALIMENTO CELESTIAL. Dios sostentó al pueblo de Israel por cuarenta años en el desierto con maná venido del cielo, y Moisés no quiere que lo olviden. Dios hizo brotar agua de la roca para que bebieran, y Moisés tampoco quiere que olviden esto. Y Moisés se lo dice –dos veces—que el alimento que Dios envió era comida que ni ellos ni sus antepasados jamás habían probado antes. Jesús, también habla del pan venido del cielo, comida que el pueblo judío jamás había probado antes. Romualdo fue el padre fundador de los monjes camaldulenses, imponiendo en ellos reglas más severas que las que san Benedicto había impuesto en su monasterio. Un hecho que transformó su vida fue el ver a su padre batirse a duelo, dando muerte a otra persona. Puesto que el rey Otón III lo había nombrado Abad, renunció al cargo por considerarlo de mucho prestigio para él, porque lo único que deseaba era ser un simple monje dedicado a la contemplación y la vida ermitaña. Con este espíritu viajó por toda Italia erigiendo ermitas y fundando conventos. Su capacidad de conversión era notable, pues llegó a convencer a su mismo padre de que se hiciera monje. De profundo amor a Dios y de voluntad férrea, quiso ser mártir y pidió al papa su permiso para ir a predicar el Evangelio a Hungría, pero cada vez que lo intentaba se enfermaba, así comprendió que Dios deseaba que se estableciera en el monasterio y reformara la vida tan holgada de muchos monjes de su tiempo, tarea que logró más allá de lo esperado. —Miguel Arias, Copyright © J. We dedicate the month of June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus) is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Catholic devotions, wherein the heart of Jesus is viewed as

a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for mankind." The Church today, and throughout this month of June, invites us to spend the month reflecting on what it really means to live our lives in such a way that we reveal the Loving Heart of a Merciful God to the whole world. On May 31, 1992, in Rome, Pope St John Paul II canonized the Jesuit Priest Saint Claude de la Colombiere, the Spiritual Director of Saint Margaret Mary of Alocoque. She was the religious sister to whom the Lord gave a special revelation of His Sacred Heart, filled with redemptive and merciful love for the world. The priest shared Margaret Mary's devotion to the Heart of Jesus and helped to spread that devotion. This occurred at a critical time when the culture of Europe was steeped in darkness - and the Church staggered from corruption within - a time very much like our own. At the Mass of canonization, the late Pope proclaimed: "For evangelization today, the Heart of Christ must be recognized as the heart of the Church: It is He who calls us to conversion, to reconciliation. It is He who leads pure hearts and those hungering for justice along the way of the Beatitudes. It is He who achieves the warm communion of the members of the one Body. It is He who enables us to adhere to the Good News and to accept the promise of eternal life. It is He who sends us out on mission. The heart-to-heart with Jesus broadens the human heart on a global scale."

Teach children everyday actions to reduce the spread of germs

It is appropriate to frequently remind your children about ways to avoid or reduce the spread of germs and to start practicing at home. Among the tips are: Stay away from people who are coughing, sneezing or sick. Remind them to cough or sneeze into a tissue or their elbow, then throw the tissue into the trash. Get the children into a handwashing habit. Teach them to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing their nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food. If soap and water are not available, teach them to use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer should contain at least 60% alcohol. Supervise young children when they use hand sanitizer to prevent swallowing alcohol.

Completed Projects: • Completed the installation of new phone system in the

rectory office on November 22, 2019. • Repadding of the church’s kneelers end caps completed. • Pest control treatment done in July 2019. • Removed and installed new Parish Census database. • Installed 4 new water heater in the Parish Center in

Archbishop José H. Gomez, in consultation with the Auxiliary Bishops and the Council of Priests, has determined that the transfer of priests to new parish assignments, which normally occurs on July 1st, will take place on September 1, 2020.
