Monday through Saturday 7:30 AM

Today is traditionally known as Good Shepherd Sunday.

Reflect for a few minutes on God’s loving care for us…

on how God cherishes each of us. Our God and

Shepherd values diversity. But many though we are, we

are one flock, not two or more. Not only has the Father

given us to Jesus, we share a relationship with Him and

through Him with each other. The message of Jesus is taken from the Jewish

community to the non-Jewish community. Many of the Jews did not like this

and would not embrace these newcomers. The Book of Revelation provides a

picture of the early church and the diversity of its membership. We see a great

multitude standing before the Lamb, a multitude “from every nation, race,

people, and tongue.” The unity and love Jesus is calling us to is not easy to

achieve. Most of us tend to associate with people with whom we share racial,

cultural, economic, religious and political values. At times we even ridicule and

cut off those who appear to be different. The Good Shepherd is committed to the

well-being of us all. Unlike the political climate and the society in which we

live, the genuine differences among us remain as distinctions marking us all as

unique, not as separations that keep us apart. Our differences add to the beauty

of God’s people. We are God’s people, “the flock he tends” and there can be no

dominant or superior groups with it. Are there people you have kept at a distance

because of their origin, race or differences? How might you change this? How

might you act as a guide for others, leading them into God’s love?

A priest will be contacted and you will receive a return call as quickly as possible.

The Spiritual Works of Mercy: #1 Counseling the Doubtful Living it out in our daily lives:

Everyone has moments of doubt in their faith journey. Nevertheless, we should always remember

that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and turn to Him along our way.

Read Proverbs 19:20 and 1 Corinthians 1:25

Has someone asked you for advice? Orient your response to Christ, who is the Way,

the Truth, and the Life

Follow Christ with the witness of your life so that others may see God's love revealed

in your actions

Accompany a friend who is struggling with believing to join a parish group for service or faith formation, share a book you found useful in dealing with your friend's faith concern, and worship at Sunday Mass

Justice Challenge Justice ministry takes courage. Those who speak out for and act on behalf of those who are being mistreated often face persecutions. In some parts of the world, they face torture and death. Jesus is the good shepherd and promises that no one will snatch his sheep out of his hand. We can face the greatest threats with courage when we stand up for what is right because we know that even if the worst possible thing happens to us, we will end up in the protection of our good shepherd. The challenge this week is to overcome your fear and speak up for or act on behalf of someone who is being mis-treated… knowing that Jesus has your back.

Disciples as Stewards “Let us begin with being a disciple—a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. As members of the Church, Jesus calls us to be disciples. This has astonishing implications:

Mature disciples make a conscious decision to follow Jesus, no matter what the cost.

Christian disciples experience conversion—life shaping changes of mind and heart—and commit their very selves to the Lord.

Christian stewards respond in a particular way to the call to be a disciple.

Stewardship has the power to shape and mold our understanding of our lives and the way in which we live. Jesus' disciples and Christian stewards recognize

God as the origin of life, giver of freedom, and source

of all things. We are grateful for the gifts we have

received and are eager to use them to show our love

for God and for one another. We look to the life and

teaching of Jesus for guidance in living as Christian

stewards.”
