Look at the astonishing quantity of fruit which the work of Paul and Barnabas and the other disciples bore! Today we have a resume of some of this work in our first reading. So how did they accomplish this? The answer is to be found in todays Gospel “ By this love you have for one another, everyone will now that you are my disciples” Does this mean that those early disciples had warm feelings for one another? No, rather it means by the Spirit of God they had true love for one another - that is agape, a selfless love which always seeks after the good of other people. Ask yourself this question, what good things does the person in the pew in front of you need? How can you help them to achieve those goods? Prayer is a start but what can you DO? Wishing you every blessing, Fr Gerry A very warm welcome to you all, especially those who are just visiting. If you have any questions about our liturgical life and the many wonderful parish groups we have please do ask. The Legion of Mary is here to serve our parish beneath the standard of Our Lady's loving care. If you or a loved one would like a visit please leave your details in the 'Legion of Mary Box' in the church porch . The spirit of the Legion of Mary is altogether something else. It is nothing less than the spirit of Mary herself whose greeting at the gate unleashed a joy so penetrating that it caused a baby in the womb to leap for joy. To give oneself to Mary in her Legion is to take on a challenge that hasn't changed since that fair spring day when Mary ‘rising up…went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda, and…entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth’ (Luke 1:39-40) We meet every Monday at 5pm and would very much welcome new members.
