There’s No One Else When Jesse Elizondo (pictured right) was a college student, a Campus Crusade staff friend challenged him with the question, “Have you ever considered that God made you brown for a reason?” Jesse said that this was the question that got him thinking he should start Destino on his campus in 1999. He did launch Destino - and as it grew in reaching students with the gospel, so did Jesse’s heart to be a leader and a minister. Today, Jesse has finished seminary and he’s the lead pastor at Two Rivers Bible Church in Gonzales, TX. Instead of having a normal fall retreat, this year the Destino movement decided to have a Fall “Advance” with Jesse as the teacher. They met at Texas State all weekend, Oct 1-3, and for the most part it was the usual stuff: speaker, band, MC, etc. But on Saturday morning a Destino staff member took an hour to train the 70 students on how to tell others about their faith using the Knowing God Personally booklet. Saturday afternoon, the students initiated spiritual conversations with 104 Texas State students and 32 of them accepted Christ! The sharing time afterwards was electric as students talked about what God did. As the Destino staff gathered as a team after the Fall Advance in early October, Jesse said that he loved Destino. He said that as a church planter he is looking for ministries that are raising up Hispanic leaders for the church. He said that he’s looked all over the country and he can’t find any one doing this. He said “There’s nobody else doing what you’re doing. You’re it!” What an encouragement to hear the strategic importance God has given our ethnic ministries! Thanks for your part! He did launch Destino - and as it grew in reaching students with the gospel, so did Jesse’s heart to be a leader and a minister. Today, Jesse has finished seminary and he’s the lead pastor at Two Rivers Bible Church in Gonzales, TX.

Ins tead o f hav ing a normal fall retreat, this year the Destino movement decided to have a Fall “Advance” with Jesse as the teacher. They met at Texas State all weekend, Oct 1-3, and for the most part it was the usual stuff: speaker, band, MC, etc.

But on Saturday morning a Destino staff member took an hour to train the 70 students on how to tell others about their faith using the Knowing God Personally booklet. Saturday afternoon,

the students initiated spiritual conversations with 104 Texas State students and 32 of them accepted Christ! The sharing time afterwards was electric as students talked about what God did.

As the Dest ino s ta f f gathered as a team after the Fall Advance in early October, Jesse said that he loved Destino. He said that as a church planter he is looking for ministries that are raising up Hispanic leaders for the church. He said that he’s looked all over the country and he can’t find any one doing this. CONTINUING MINISTRY PARTNER DEVELOPMENT

I have decided to go back to one of my “home- bases” of ministry partners to continue my journey of developing my team of ministry partners. Samson, Chloe and I will be going to Seattle for at least 2 months. I look forward to connecting with many of you while I am there! I am in need of a car to use while I am there if you know of one!

I am also really excited for the opportunity to spend extended time with my family. I think this will be the first Thanksgiving I have spent with my family since I was in college. I am hoping I don’t freeze though!

I will also continue to try to connect with new friends and partners through Facebook and email. I am learning so much about communicating through these tools. It has been a lot of fun! In fact, the things that I am learning about communicating through social media will be really helpful for communicating our vision and mission when I return to my communications role. I have been really enjoying that aspect of it!
