Stages of Development – Double Page Spread

Page 2: Stages of development double page spread

The first thing I did towards the production of my double page spread was take my image and put it in Photoshop to edit.

Next, I used the lasso tool to cut around the model and create separate layers between the model and the background. I was then able to adjust the brightness of the image and made it lighter so that it would stand out more against a darker background.

Having separated the layers, I was able to edit the background without affecting the model. I used the black and white filter and edited the colours to make the background the same colours as the house style of my magazine. Red, Black and White.

Then by combining the two separate layers I created the main image for my double page spread.

Next, I wrote the article for my double page spread separately on Microsoft Word

I then imported the image from Photoshop onto my double page spread on in design.

Next. I used the rectangle tool to create a black background to keep with the house style colours of my magazine. This is to make the magazine look professional by sticking to the three main colours and creates continuity between the three pages.

I then added a header to the double page spread again using the same font and colours. By using th word ‘Exclusive’ the readers attention is drawn to the page as they feel they are getting something that others aren’t.

I then wrote a short introduction to the article as it is conventional on double page spreads and explains to the audience what the article is about.

Then, I added columns to the second page on the double page spread. Then I typed up my article that I had written previously on Microsoft Word into the columns on In-Design. I used the house style colours and font to create familiarity.

Finally, I added page numbers to the double page spread. This was done to make the pages look more professional. Also, the page numbers are the numbers that the contents says the article will be on. This shows that the pages are from the same magazine.
