1 1 In the third year of Cyrus kingof Persia, a revelation was givento Daniel (who was calledBelteshazzar). Its message wastrue and it concerned a greatwar.[a] The understanding of themessage came to him in a vision.2 At that time I, Daniel, mournedfor three weeks.

3 I ate no choice food; no meat orwine touched my lips; and I usedno lotions at all until the threeweeks were over.4 On the twenty-fourth day of thefirst month, as I was standing onthe bank of the great river, theTigris,5 I looked up and there before mewas a man dressed in linen, with abelt of fine gold from Uphazaround his waist.

6 His body was like topaz, his facelike lightning, his eyes like flamingtorches, his arms and legs like thegleam of burnished bronze, andhis voice like the sound of amultitude.7 I, Daniel, was the only one whosaw the vision; those who werewith me did not see it, but suchterror overwhelmed them thatthey fled and hidthemselves.

8 So I was left alone, gazing at thisgreat vision; I had no strength left,my face turned deathly pale and Iwas helpless.9 Then I heard him speaking, andas I listened to him, I fell into adeep sleep, my face to the ground.

5 I looked up and saw a mandressed in linen clothing, with abelt of pure gold around hiswaist.6 His body looked like a preciousgem. His face flashed likelightning, and his eyes flamed liketorches. His arms and feet shonelike polished bronze, and hisvoice roared like a vast multitudeof people.

7 Only I, Daniel, saw this vision.The men with me saw nothing,but they were suddenly terrifiedand ran away to hide.8 So I was left there all alone tosee this amazing vision.

Sometimes God has something just for you that others wouldn’t

understand.

God is going to move some of you while others just want to go out to eat.

8b My strength left me, my facegrew deathly pale, and I felt veryweak.9 Then I heard the man speak, andwhen I heard the sound of hisvoice, I fainted and lay there withmy face to the ground.

Strongest mencannot bear the weight

of the glory of God.

10 Just then a hand touched me and lifted me, still trembling, to my hands and knees. 11 And the man said to me, “Daniel, you are very precious to God, so listen carefully to what I have to say to you. Stand up, for I have been sent

to you.” When he said this to me, I stood up, still trembling.

8 For this is what the LordAlmighty says: “After the GloriousOne has sent me against thenations that have plunderedyou—for whoever touches youtouches the apple of his eye

You are very precious to God. Not only does God

loves you but He likes you as well.

12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid,Daniel. Since the first day you beganto pray for understanding and tohumble yourself before your God,your request has been heard inheaven. I have come in answer toyour prayer.

13 But for twenty-one days the spiritprince of the kingdom of Persiablocked my way. Then Michael, oneof the archangels, came to help me,and I left him there with the spiritprince of the kingdom of Persia.

“What no eye has seen,what no ear has heard,

and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—

the things God has prepared for those who love him—

Since the first time you begin to pray

your prayer has been heard in heaven.

13 But for twenty-one days thespirit prince of the kingdom ofPersia blocked my way. ThenMichael, one of the archangels,came to help me, and I left himthere with the spirit prince of thekingdom of Persia.

When Daniel start praying, 21 days ago, it looks like God wasn’t doing anything. But

actually He is doing more than you understand!

Until you understand your weakness you won’t

appreciate God’s strength.

17 How can someone like me,your servant, talk to you, mylord? My strength is gone, and Ican hardly breathe.” 18 Then theone who looked like a mantouched me again, and I felt mystrength returning. 19 “Don’t beafraid,” he said, “for you are veryprecious to God. Peace! Beencouraged! Be strong!”

To stand in faith always remember that;

He cares about me more than I do.

Doing more than we understand.His strength is made perfect in my

weakness.

The vision Daniel receives in Chapter 10 presents him with a deeper

challenge than any in his past. he now learns he is engaged in spiritual

warfare. In his dialogue with an Angel, Daniel learns some important lessons

every leader ought to master.

Spiritual leaders lead not only God’s family, but God’s army.

Verse 10-21

Prayer ignites spiritual warfare invisible to us.

Verse 10-12

Both spiritual Kingdoms seem to have princes.

Verse 13

Special warfare can delay victories.

Verse 13-14

We must not fear spiritual warfare.

Verse 18-19

Understanding warfare enables us to cooperate with

god’s purposes. Verse 20-21

As you seek to lead in a more strategic way, recognize that you will encounter struggles

beyond mere human opposition. You must wisely

face an invisible, spiritual world around you. You need both

prayer and persistence.
