Summer is here, and that means construction season is upon us. All Stonebridge residents are familiar with the road work that is taking place on Hunter Road, and I know the condition of Preston Avenue continues to be frustrating. I would ask you to please call the Public Works hotline at 306-975-2491 if you notice that the road is in need of maintenance. Our staff will ensure that ASL, who has been contracted to maintain Preston, is dispatched as soon as possible. This is the schedule for the rest of the project:

Now-End of June: the developer will continue to work on Hunter Road, with the end of June as the expected completion date. Preston and Cornish will remain open.

July-August 2014: Once Hunter is complete and open, Cornish will be closed to enable necessary upgrades to the road. During this time Preston and Hunter will be open.

September-October 2014: Once Cornish and Hunter are done and open to traffic, Preston will be closed so that it can be upgraded.

In other transportation news, the City will be introducing a new bus route to Stonebridge in September (Route 26). This will provide service to the University of Saskatchewan along Clarence and Preston. This should provide some relief for the existing Route 17, which is often crowded. Watch for more details throughout the summer.

As always, please contact me with any questions or comments. All the best for a safe and happy summer!

Please visit the programs section of our website (http://ourstonebridge.ca/programs) for an updated list of fall program offerings. Registration for our programs is done online, and will open the second week of August. Stay tuned for more details

Programs UpdateWe are gearing up for another round of fall programs and are excited for some new additions to our regular roster. This will be our third registration cycle with our online registration system, which is now solely how we facilitate registration in our programs. Registration for our fall 2014 programs will begin online on Tuesday August 19th 2014 and will be open for two weeks, closing on 5 September 2014. Our registration payment drop off/info night will be on Tuesday, 9 September 2014 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Circle Drive Alliance Church. There will be no walk-up registration at this drop off night. Find all you need to know about our online system by heading to http://ourstonebridge.ca/programs. When registration goes live, the link to register will be posted there. If you have any suggestions for programming, please contact our program committee by heading over to the programs section of our website.

Late Registration and RefundsAt a recent meeting, our executive amended our late registration policy such that each registration session (fall, winter, spring) is open for two weeks with a payment night drop off during or near the end of the 2nd week. We accept registrations for 7 days following the in-person registration night payment drop off, with a $15.00 late registration fee. After the 7 days, any requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and there are no guarantees on securing a spot in a program. A refund can be requested before the class or program begins. If a refund is requested after the first session, it will not be approved. The only exception is for our mini-soccer program. Refunds are not processed for soccer once our fee has been paid to Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. When registering for soccer, the date the fee is to be paid will be in your email receipt with information about the refund policy.

If you have any questions about any of this, please let us know! Be sure to visit our website regularly over the summer in case any new program information is posted.

Have a great summer!Tracy, Blair and Michelle

U10 D LeagueThe D (Development) League is for players of all abilities who want to have a practice ratio in line with the Long Term Player Development model. This league will have a ratio of 2:1, or 20 practices to 10 games.

As Stonebridge is in the Eastside Soccer Zone, our U10 players will have an extra weekly practice to increase the ratio to 3:1.

The regular U10 league will still be offered. Each player gets to choose his or her own pathway.

More information will be on the Saskatoon Youth Soccer website this summer, as well as on Stonebridge's own website.

As well, community associations in Eastside's zone, which includes Stonebridge, can offer U8 Shooting Stars instead of the regular U8 league. It will also follow the 3:1 practice to game ratio. Shooting Stars features a master coach and paid certified coaches who will teach the players, as well as teaching the mentor (or parent) coach.
