CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATION

Construction method: chain flip-chip method is usually used for common vertical oil storage tank: construction preparation --> material inspection --> cutting --> machining --> inspection --> welding of the center plate at the bottom of tank --> welding of the arch edge plate at the bottom of tanksetting up the center post and umbrella stand --> installation and welding of top ring --> installation and welding of edge and steel angle --> assembling of temporary arch bracket --> installation of leading chain lifting device --> installation and welding of arch roof --> installation and welding of the lower circle --> Jack-up the top circle shell plate --> welding of circular seam --> installation and welding of every circular seam --> installation and welding of bottom circle, bottom plate and angle seam --> installation and welding of edge plate of bottom plate --> inspection --> installation of accessories --> vacuum test --> test --> settlement observation --> hand overPrefabricating of tank: three arc sample plates: one is for checking curvature of arch roof, chord length of which is no less than 2m; one is for checking the deformation of the edge of vertical weld seam, chord length of which is no less than 1m; one is for checking the defor-mation of vertical weld seam, chord length of which is no less than 1m.Assembling of tank: According to the sequence for installing oil tank, the lower surface of bottom plate should be done the anticorrosion work before installation of bottom plate. A cross center line should be drew up on the surface before layout of bottom plate. The devia-tion with the center line remarked by civil construction should be within the scope of permit.

Inspection of welding and weld seam: To evaluate the welding process of butt joint, T fillet weld and tube plate according to JB4708-92 The evaluation of welding process of steel pressure vessel. To make the guide book of welding process in the site, the person who do the NDT for weld seam of oil tank. RT will be done according to the specification of GB3323-87 Radiogram and quality of butt joint welded by steel melt weld.

INSPECTION METHODS

Tank test: Vacuum test will be adopted for all bottom plates and the vacuum degree should not be less than 53Kpa. The penetrate test will be used to reinspect.To do tank water filling test, up and down test of floating disc and observation of foundation settlement. Then to close the holes of upper part temporarily and to open light holes on the roof and then to fill water into tank. The water should be fresh water and the temperature should be lower than 5℃. The pressure should be kept for hours.The water filling test, strength test and stability test for shell plate and roof plate: To close the light holes, foam holes and vent holes on the roof when the water level reaches to 1m and then to fill the water continuously. To observe the pressure through the pressure gauge on the roof. The stability test will be done after water filling test. When the water level reach-es the maximum operation liquid level, to close the opening and drain the water slowly. When the negative pressure generated in the tank, to monitor the negative pressure number strictness. When the negative pressure number reaches 200mm, to stop draining water immediately and to fill water, making the pressure in the tank be normal. Crack detection: To do penetration test and MT for the fillet weld seam of joint angle and stiffening plate on the tank.

SCOPE AND STANDARD OF PRODUCTS

The R11、R112 design code in Horizontal oil tank can be applied to fuel oil tanks of industry oil depot and gas station. Scope: The pressure is normal pressure; the temperature is -19℃~200℃; the medium is is fuel oil(diesel oil, gasoline and so on). Steel Pressure Vessel GB 150-1998 and Steel Weld Normal Pressure Vessel JB/T 4735-1997. Weld Specifications of Steel Pressure Vessel JB/T 4709-2000 and NDT for Pressure Vessel JB 4730-94。

MAIN TYPES OF OIL TANKS

The ground horizontal oil tank and underground horizontal oil tank:the manufacture drawing, installation drawing and basic parameter chart for 5~100 M3 oil tank. The operating well drawing of underground horizontal oil tank, the welding type drawing of joint pipe of oil tank, the inclined ladder drawing inner horizontal oil tank. The operating well drawing of under-ground horizontal oil tank, the welding type drawing of joint pipe of oil tank, the inclined ladder drawing inner horizontal oil tank.

THE DETERMINATION OF OIL TANKS

The total volume will be decided by transportation ways and oil supply period and so on. The maximum consumption is no less than 20~30 days if is transported by train and vessel; The maximum consumption is no less than 5~10 days if is trans-ported by car; The maximum consumption is no less than 20~30 days if is trans-ported by pipe. The operation period of fuel oil equipment is from 12~16 per day in office building; The operation period of fuel oil equipment is from 16~24 per day in high grade residence building and hotel.

INSTALLATION IN THE SITE:

The thickness of cover soil on the top of underground oil tank is no less than 0.5m. The clean sand or fine soil can be used in around and the thickness is no less than 0.3m. The company will use the same ladders for the operation platform of oil tank. The underground operation well is designed for underground horizontal oil tank. The user should take some measures to fix and prevent floating for underground horizontal oil tank if the water level is too high. The oil tank can storage HFO and the heater should be designed; the user should consider the bottom valve and joint in the material exit of underground oil tank. Take some measures for lightning protection, anti-static and firefighting. The inner anticorrosion should be decided by the medium and the outside anticorrosion should be decided by soil proper-ty. The height of vent pipe should be over 4m above ground. The nominal diameter of vent pipe should no less than 50mm and should be equipped flame arrester.

FUNCTION OF OIL STORAGE TANK: The steel sealed vessel, that is steel oil tank, is used for storage liquid and gas. The steel oil tank is the infrastructure in gasoline industry, chemical industry, grain and oil industry, food industry, fire fighting industry, transportation industry, metallurgy industry, national defence industry and so on. The steel oil tank plays an important role in people’s life and the national economic development. It is a special equipment for storage various liquid (or gas) raw material and product. Many enterprises can not produce normally if there is no storage tank. Especially for national strategic material reserves, various storage tanks are necessary. The oil storage facilities in our country are most ground storage tanks which are made by metal. Our website will introduce some basic information about the storage tank with arch roof, storage tank with inner floating roof and horizontal storage tank.

CLASSIFICATION OF OIL STORAGE TANKFor different medium, the types of storage tanks are also different. According to the position, there are ground storage tank, underground storage tank, half underground storage tank, marine tank, seabed tank and so on. According to oils, there are crude oil tank, fuel oil tank, lubricating oil tank,edible oil tank, fire water tank and so on. According to the purpose, there are production oil tank, storage oil tank and so on. According to type, there are vertical storage tank, horizontal stor-age tank and so on. According to structure, there are storage tank with fixed roof, storage tank with floating roof, spherical tank and so on. According to capacity, there are large storage tank(such as vertical tank), the capacity of which is above 100m3 and small storage tank (such as horizontal tank), the capacity of which is under 100m3.

STANDARD OF OIL STORAGE TANKThe common standards of oil storage tank: 1. API650; 2. BS2654; 3. JISB8501; 4.DIN4119; 5. SYJ1016-82; 6. SH3046-92.

THE MATERIAL OF OIL STORAGE TANKThe materials of storage tank are tank materials and accessories materials. The tank material can be divided into low strength steel and high strength steel according to tensile yield strength(бs) or standard tensile strength (бb). The high strength steel is used for above 5000m 3 oil tank. The carbon steel is used for accessories, including wind ring beam, fore shaft, spiral staircase, rail and so on. The types of steel for oil tank are 20 、20R 、16Mn 、 16MnR and Q235.

THE STRUCTURE OF STORAGE TANKThere are three types of storage tanks which are very popular and most mature in our country: stor-age tank with arch roof, storage tank with floating roof and horizontal storage tank.

I. Structure of oil tank with domeThe storage tank with arch roof is a kind of steel vessel, the roof of which is ball coronary, the tank of which is column form. The manufacture of storage tank with arch roof is very simple and the cost of construction is very cheap. So it is very popular in many industries in China. The volume of commonly used is 1000 -10000m3. At present, The maximum volume of storage tank with arch roof in China has reaches 30000m3. Steel plates assem-ble the bottom of tank. The steel plate of the center of bottom is center plate and peripheral steel plate is margin plate. The margin plate is strip plate or cambered plate. When the inner diameter is less than 16.5m, strip plate is used as margin plate. When the inner diameter is 16.5m or more, cambered plate is used as margin plate. Tank shell is butt welded by many round steel plates. There are two types: sleeve and linear. Overlap joint will be used for circumferential seam on the sleeve shell of tank and butt joint will be used for vertical seam. The storage tank with arch roof is always adopting this ways, which is good for assembling of round shell plates. Butt-welding will be used for circumferential seam on the linear shell of tank. The advantage is the diameter of whole shell of tank will be same. It is used for storage tank with inner float-ing roof.

II. Structure of horizontal oil tank The top of the tank: a tank top with a plurality of fan-shaped plate of welded ball coronal, the internal side of the tank top with steel bar reinforcement, between all the sector plate lap weld, angle steel ring the whole tank top and the upper part of the tank wall panel (or lock) welded into one.

III. Structure of floating roof tankFloating roof tank is composed of a floating in the medium on the surface of the floating roof and vertical cylindrical tank wall. Floating roof tank reserves with medium increases or decreases lift, a ring seal between the floating roof edge and the tank wall, the medium in the tank is always internal floating roof cover, reduce medium volatile. The bottom of the tank: volume of floating roof tank is large, the floor with arched edge plate. The tank wall: the linear tank wall, butt weld should be polished smooth, ensure the inner surface rough-ness. Floating roof tank is open, for increasing the wall stiffness, should according to the local wind load size, the tank wall top set the wind beam and reinforcing ring. Floating roof: floating roof is divided into single deck floating roof, double deck floating roof and float type floating roof form. Single deck floating roof: consists of several separate compartments to form an annular floating ring, the inside is a single plate roof. Single disc is provided with a plurality of annular steel roof bottom reinforcement. Its advantages are low cost, good repair. Double deck floating roof: composed of upper plate, lower plate and the edge plate, the radial baffle and the baffle into several independent annular tank. Its advantages are large buoyancy, good drainage effect.

IV. Structure of the inner floating roof tankInner floating roof tank is in the dome tank with floating roof and tank, additional floating roof can reduce the volatilization loss medium, outside the vault can also prevent rain, snow and dust from entering the tank, ensure the medium tank clean. This tank is mainly used for storage of light oils, such as gasoline, aviation kerosene. The straight wall of inner floating roof tank, wall plate butt welding system, according to the requirements of the production of vault vaulted tank. The inner floating domestic top two structures: one is the steel floating and floating roof tank top; another is the shape of the aluminum floating roof assembly.

V. Structure for horizontal storage tankThe volume of horizontal storage tanks are generally less than 100m3, usually used for pro-duction or gas station. Horizontal storage tank circumferential weld the overlap, the longitu-dinal weld the butt. Ring plate are arranged alternately, the singular, that cover the same diameter. Horizontal storage tank end cover is divided into a flat end cover and dished end cover, flat cover horizontal storage tank can bear 40kPa pressure, dished end cover hori-zontal storage tank can bear 0.2Mpa pressure. The underground horizontal tanks must ring stiffener, strengthening angle simmer crafted.

VII. The foundation of oil tankThere are usually protection foundation, ring wall foundation and the outer ring wall foundation.

Requirement of bearing capacity of foundation:

Selection of tank foundation:When the local soil can meet the design value of bearing capacity and settlement requirements and the site is not restricted, it should adopt the protection or the outer ring wall foundation. When the local soil cannot meet the requirements, design value of bearing capacity and settlement does not exceed the allowable value, it should adopt the ring wall or the outer ring wall foundation. When the local soil is soft, the outer ring wall foundation can be used after soil foundation treatment. When the field is limited, the ring wall foundation can be adopted.

The construction of oil tank foundation:The excavation of foundation pit and punning;Reinforced concrete and masonry: (omitted);Earthwork backfilling and compaction of backfill soil,: more than 500mm;Sand cushion: choose, coarse sand, laying 200~ thickness 250mm, slab oscillator watering ram-ming;Asphalt sand cushion: choose, coarse sand and No. 60 road asphalt heated asphalt sand, hierarchi-cal block paved, its thickness is 80~ 100mm, the top surface of tank foundation from the center to the periphery of the gradient of 15~35;Slope protection construction: after the tank pressure test for slope protection construction, slope and width of 800~ 1000mm. VIII. Storage tank fabrication and installationStorage tank construction process is divided into semi precast and on-site installation of two parts.Semi finished products: the bottom of the tank, the tank wall prefabricated, tank top and other com-ponents are prefabricated (concrete precast Fang Falve).On the spot installation method: divided into flip chip construction technology, construction tech-nology and special formal construction technology.
