Association President Michel P Heroux, Class of ’66, congratulated the 2016 Streetsboro Alumni Association Scholarship recipient — Grace Rohaley and presented her with her $250.00 scholarship award. Class of 2016 members Ty Butler, Alexis DeToro, Lauren Gates, and Hannah Schuller also received scholarships but were not present. Streetsboro Alumni Association Annual Meeting and Banquet

annual Streetsboro Alumni Association Meeting and Banquet.

Association President Michel P Heroux, Class of ’66, congratulated the 2016 Streetsboro Alumni Association Scholarship

recipient — Grace Rohaley and presented her with her $250.00 scholarship award. Class of 2016 members Ty Butler, Alexis

new Streetsboro Alumni Association Scholarship recipients. The scholarship recipients also receive a LIFETIME membership

card which will allow them to attend on-campus sporting events and theater performances at a reduced cost. Newest

LIFETIME members are Ty Butler, Alexis DeToro, Lauren Gates, Grace Rohaley, and Hannah Schuller. If you want to create

a memorial scholarship in your name, or parent, favorite teacher, make your check out the Streetsboro Educational Foundation,

Streetsboro City Schools, and citizens living within the

Streetsboro city limits. Only $25.00 for a lifetime

membership and a portion of the dues money goes to

support our student scholarships.

Vernon D Miller Obituary

Vernon Doyle Miller was born on July 4, 1927, toJohn P. and Elizabeth Hostetler Miller in thefamily home on Elliman Road in Streetsboro,OH. He died peacefully on April 19, 2016, in hisdaughter Susan's home less than a mile from thehome where he was born. Vernon attendedStreetsboro Schools, graduating in 1945,Goshen College where he earned a degree inBiology in 1950, and Kent State University wherehe received a Master's Degree in Education in1962. At Goshen College he met MargaretTroyer and they were married on June 6, 1950.Vernon was an educator for 35 years, beginninghis career as an elementary school classroomteacher and then principal in Streetsboro, andretiring as an elementary school principal fromSolon, in June 1987. He was respected,admired, and loved by teachers and staff.Vernon is survived by his beloved wife MargaretL. Miller, four children, Susan Grace Miller ofStreetsboro, Wilbur (Christine) Miller of AnnArbor, MI, Philip Edgar Miller of Streetsboro andSheryl Dawn (Robert) Wideman of Stouffville,Ontario, seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren with two more on the way.

Scholarship Report

A BIG Blue and Gold THANK YOU goes outto all the wonderful alumni who donated$1,257.00 to our scholarship fund this year. We have awarded $10,700.00 inscholarships since 2008. The winner of our annualmeeting 50/50 raffle was Larry Sell who donated the moneyto our scholarship fund. Thank you, Larry.

Streetsboro Alumni Association Scholarship

There are only two (2) criteria for award of the StreetsboroAlumni Association scholarship.

1. At least one parent or legal guardian has to be a lifetimemember or an associate lifetime member of theStreetsboro Alumni Association.

AND2. The student applicant must graduate with his/her class.

You must petition for the scholarship by going on-line to theS t r e e t s b o ro A l u mn i As s o c i a t i o n we b s i t e :www.streetsboroalumni.com, place your cursor over theSCHOLARSHIPS tab, click on the Scholarship ApplicationForm, print out the Streetsboro Alumni Associationscholarship application form (3 pages) and mail it to theaddress on the membership form..

Scholarship applicants will be selected at random for theaward of these scholarships. The money can be used forany purpose.

Janet K (Hannum) Dunlap Obituary

Janet K. (Hannum) Dunlap, age 92, passedaway on April 30, 2016. She was much lovedand brought happiness to many. A lifelongresident of Streetsboro she was born to Otis Rayand Edith Hannum on September 20, 1923. Shegraduated from Streetsboro High School in 1941.Jan married Floyd L. Dunlap on March 4, 1944and had 63 wonderful years together until hispassing in 2007. In September 1962, with theopening of the new Streetsboro High School, shebegan work as the high school secretary. Sheheld that position until June 1985 when sheretired. She is survived by her daughters DianeSteffner and Susan (Jay) Robison, son Michael(Beverly) Dunlap, 7 grandchildren, and 7 greatgrandchildren. She was nominated and selectedas the Streetsboro Alumni AssociationDistinguished Alumni Hall of Fame for theAcademic Year 2015.

The Past 9 years of the Streetsboro Alumni Association

Since 2007, with the help of Mike Mack, Ricki (Poole) Graeser, Debbie Wenzel, Karyn (Kravetz) Hall,Steve Szumski, Bee Siobert-Greenlee, myself and now Michel Heroux, the association hasaccomplished MUCH since then:

1. Established scholarship criteria and a scholarship fund with a Memorandum of Understandingwith the Streetsboro Educational Foundation to be the custodian of our scholarship funds.

2. Published a high quality quarterly newsletter.3. Maintained a presence at the home football games at a table with an identifying banner.4. Developed membership application forms.5. Designed alumni association “T” shirts and hats to sell at football games and now redesigned

“T” shirts and hats.6. Developed birthday cards to send to members in the month of their birth and sympathy cards

to alumni who have lost a parent or sibling.7. Attended class reunions and provided information about the association and membership

benefits.8. Sponsored the very successful “First 5" gathering celebrating the first five classes (1964-1968)

to graduate from the new Streetsboro High School. This was done at NO cost to theStreetsboro Alumni Association.

9. Developed the criteria for the Streetsboro Alumni Association “Hall of Fame” award.10. Printed and laminated Streetsboro Alumni Association LIFETIME membership cards.11. Visited Streetsboro High School each year and spoke with the senior class about our

scholarships and distributed information about the process for application.12. Posted a laminated scholarship process letter on a common bulletin board in the hallway of

the high school.13. Worked at the Streetsboro Alumni Association table in the city park during the Streetsboro

Family Days event passing out membership information and gathering membershipapplications.

14. Sponsored the annual scholarship awards event in 2010 when the school gymnasium wasbeing repaired.

15. Established the Streetsboro Alumni Association website and now a redesigned websitewww.streetsboroalumni.com with upcoming events, class reunions scheduled for each year,our annual meeting minutes and our treasurer’s report, varsity football schedule, quarterlynewsletters, pictures of various class reunions in our photo gallery, scholarship informationand application forms, membership information and application form and other information foralumni, teachers, and community members and now class YEARBOOKS. Go to theCLASSES tab on our website and scroll down to the proper decade, then click on the year ofinterest. The senior pictures will appear on each page and the YEARBOOK selection logo ison the upper right hand of the page. As of January 2016 the full yearbooks posted start withthe Class of 1964 Junior year yearbook up through the Class of 2013 yearbook. To contact usgo to the CONTACT page on our website.

16. Designed Streetsboro Alumni Association decals with the old website address and nowredesigned decals with the current website address so our members can proudly display themon their automobiles.

17. Awarded $10,700 in scholarships to graduating seniors since June 2008.

The Streetsboro Alumni Association has come a long way since 2007 and serves the alumni,students, and community which is what a great alumni association should do.

Class Reunions Scheduled during 2016

The Streetsboro Class of 1966 is tentatively planning a 50 year class reunion in two parts. A picnic isscheduled for Friday, June 24, and another on Saturday evening, October 8, 2016 at Doogan’s inAurora.
