MESSAGE FROM THE STREETSBORO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTTED HURD, SHS CLASS OF 1970
Happy New Year Alumni,
I hope your New Year is going well and will be prosperous, healthy, and happy. Thispast year has brought many new members and I want to personally welcome you!You can check if you are a lifetime member of the Streetsboro Alumni Association.Go to our website www.streetsboroalumni.com and hover your cursor over the JOINNOW ONLINE tab and click on Lifetime Membership List. Names are listed bygraduation year. If you discover that you are not a lifetime member of theStreetsboro Alumni Association, click on Join Now Online. Lifetime membersreceive a laminated membership card which will allow admission to home footballgames and on-campus high school theater productions and pay the student rateinstead of the adult rate. You’ll also receive a birthday postcard during the monthof your birth, be eligible for our alumni Hall of Fame, and a quarterly newsletter withnews of interest to our alumni. A portion of your membership money goes to fundour student scholarship endowment fund.
In the past eleven years, we have accomplished many things and I'd like to saythank you to all that have participated and worked so hard to make this a verysuccessful year and a great alumni group. We have nearly 700 members andcreated a scholarship fund for graduating seniors whose parents are alumni,citizens of Streetsboro, or teachers/administrators in the Streetsboro City Schools.The Streetsboro Educational Foundation has given the Streetsboro AlumniAssociation a seat on their Board of Directors and has allowed us to make ourcontributions through them, to make it tax deductible (if you qualify) for anycontributions. We have awarded $13,950.00 to Streetsboro High School seniorssince June 2008.
Our members have been so generous with donations, and we thank you all. Wewill be awarding 2 (or more) $250.00 scholarships again this year along with the$500.00 Mike Mack Scholarship, so if one of your family members is a graduatingsenior, you need to get an application on the Streetsboro Alumni Associationwebsite: www.streetsboralumni.com, click on the SCHOLARSHIPS tab and read thecriteria for the award of the scholarship and download the application form(s).
We would like each of you to think about a contribution to the scholarshipendowment fund. This could be a one time or an ongoing contribution. Large orsmall, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to:

Streetsboro Alumni AssociationScholarships
There are only two (2) criteria for award of theStreetsboro Alumni Association scholarship.
1. At least one parent or legal guardian has to bea lifetime member or a lifetime associatemember of the Streetsboro Alumni Association.
AND
2. The student applicant must graduate withhis/her class.
You must petition for the scholarship by going on-line to the Streetsboro Alumni Association website: www.streetsboroalumni.com, hover yourcursor over the SCHOLARSHIPS tab, click on theScholarship Application Form link and print outthe Streetsboro Alumni Association scholarshipapplication form(s). Scholarship applications mustbe received in the Streetsboro Alumni Associationpost office box by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3,2019.
Scholarship applicants will be selected at randomfor the award of these scholarships. The moneycan be used for any purpose.
The Streetsboro Alumni Association funds one (or more)
$250.00 scholarship granted to a son or daughter of a
lifetime alumni association member or lifetime associate
member graduating from Streetsboro High School in the
spring of 2018. W e have awarded $13,950.00 since
June 2008.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
MEMBERSHIP -- Membership in this organization shall
consist of any graduates of Streetsboro High School and
Streetsboro students graduating from other high schools
when there was no high school in Streetsboro.
Streetsboro High School students may become
associate members of the Association upon the
payment of dues or commitment to service upon one or
more standing committees of the Association. Teachers
and administrators of Streetsboro Schools may become
associate members of the Association upon the
payment of dues. Citizens of Streetsboro may become
associate members of the Association upon the
payment of dues. Associate members may attend open
meetings and take part in discussion, but shall not vote,
make motions or hold office.
DUES - Annual dues for Streetsboro High School
graduates will be $5.00 and a Lifetime Membership is
$25.00. Lifetime membership dues are waived for any
graduates of Streetsboro High School and students
graduating from other high schools when there was no
high school in Streetsboro prior to 1964. Annual dues
for Streetsboro High School students (associate
membership) will be $1.00; provided, however, that the
Association will waive said fee in each year the
associate member serves upon one or more standing
committees of the Association. Our fiscal year is from
July 1 to June 30 .st th

Michael P Mack Scholarship
A $500.00 scholarship has been established for former StreetsboroAlumni Association President Michael P. Mack. Mike Mack waspresident from July 2007 to June 2010. During his time as president ofthe Streetsboro Alumni Association we established an agreement withthe Streetsboro Educational Foundation to act as the custodian of ourscholarship funds, published a quality quarterly newsletter, developedmembership envelopes, met with senior class members to inform themabout our scholarships available, created a website with items of interestto our alumni, began sending out birthday postcards to lifetime membersin the month of their birth, sent sympathy cards to alumni who have losta parent or siblings, and assisted classes planning for class reunions andhelping find missing classmates. Mike was seriously injured in amotorcycle accident and passed away on August 5, 2016. I miss talkingand working with him. Ed Szumski

Class Reunions Scheduled during 2019
The Class of 1964:
The Class of 1969 will at the new KSU Hotel and Conference Center, 215 S Depeyster St. In Kent on Saturday evening,
July 13, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Other activities are also planned for that weekend.
The Class of 1974:
The Class of 1979: Prerations for a 40th class reunion on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Please share this with any classmates
