TRANSCRIPT
From the DC - Mary Pritchard As always at this time of the year, many months of
activities stretch in front of us, rallies, competitions and of course camps. All organised by the many vol-
unteers who are the backbone of the Pony Club, we
owe them all such a debt of gratitude. It isn’t until you
are closely involved in the organisation of any of
these events that you realise the huge amount of time
consuming work that is involved. The same applies to
those people who help and train our members for all the various activities, they are again volunteers and
without exception they have my total backing and
support. Please remember this, particularly when it
comes to training and team selections.
We have lots of new members again this year , I al-
ways ask the old members to make them welcome, it is rather daunting joining something new, and to the
new members I always say come to as much as you
can and join in, it is the quickest way to become part
of the branch.
On the whole the turnout of the branch is very good
but can I please remind everyone, particularly new members, hair must be in a hairnet, tied back is not
acceptable, no ear rings, and absolutely NO PINK. If
you are not wearing a hacking jacket then the PC sweat shirt or the PC jacket is fine. All information
about turnout etc can be found on the website, please
look if you are not sure.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible
over the summer months, apart from learning lots,
please enjoy yourselves and volunteer as much as possible to make the running of our branch as easy as
possible!!

The Winter Programme will be available on the website by the end of the second week of September.

else has access to the internet to view the programme. Therefore in future no hard copies will be sent
out unless specifically requested.

Dressage - Julie Croghan
who would like to be considered to compete on a
team. There are 3 levels; novice, intermediate, and open, so anyone can be put on a team to ride
a test that is not too difficult
for them. If you would like to compete then please
email me. We can work out extra training dates to
help you all to get plenty of practice before the
area date.
There is a dressage rally at Offchurch on May
31st, please come along, we hope to have a new
20x60m arena up and running at this rally, to help
you get used to long arena letters - of which
there are an extra 4!! Good to practice if you have
any long arena tests or would like to
attempt one in the future.
Well, hope to see you soon, keep practicing, Julie
The spring is well and truly here, thank goodness,
which means it’s a good time to start practising your dressage. Emma Hawley has a lot of you that she
teaches on a regular basis, the improvement is fantas-
tic and shows how regular training makes a big differ-
ence in the long run. We have yet to put new dates for
training together but are in the
process of doing so and will put them on the website
as soon as they are finalised.
At the Dengie qualifiers a lot of you competed and
qualified for the second round at Field House but our
only representative to go was Kate Bleloch, who won
the open section and went to the finals at Moreton
Morrell, where she did very well coming 12th, very
well done!
Area dressage team time will be here again very soon,
and it would be lovely to know before hand anyone

Show Jumping - Jackie Elliott
don’t be afraid to ask
Our show at Weston Lawns is on
Saturday 11th June, entries close
June 4th. You can enter as a team if
you have one , or I will put you in a
team when you send me your en-
tries. If you enter after the closing
date, if there are spaces, I can’t
guarantee you being put into a
team.
Details of training on the website
soon.
Things have been a little quiet on
the ‘show jumping team scene’
lately, but I know lots of you have
been competing and doing very
well, so hopefully we’ll all be
ready for the Area competition on
Friday 29th July, this year being
held at Solihull Riding Club. If you
would like to be considered for the
area teams, please send me an
email with your details and which
section you would be able to do,
Novice, Intermediate or Open. If
you need any more details please

NORTH WARWICKSHIRE BRANCH
Tetrathlon - Anita White
It has been a very difficult
spring to arrange any cross country training, due to the in-
credibly hard ground, but if it
ever decides to rain then I am
very keen to go to Lyneham for
a session. I think it may have to
be a Friday evening as the com-
petition season is now in full swing and most weekends look
very booked up, I will keep you
all posted on this one. The C/C
training at Swalcliffe was very
good, as always very well or-
ganised by Angie Stretton.
Emma Hawley is very busy with
a lot of the eventers on the dres-sage front and I can see a real
improvement so keep up the
good work!
I will be organising teams for
the Warwickshire Event in June, so when you have entered could
you please let me know and I
will sort the teams out with the
secretary. You will find on the
website (parent’s information) a
list of all the local PC events tak-
ing place this year, and the schedules will be on the rele-
vant branch’s website, so be
brave and go and try some-
where new!!
We are again running the Area
Trials at Offchurch. Always a big one, and as always we need vol-
unteers, so please come for-
ward willingly, so much easier
for me rather than having to use
strong arm tactics!!!
As always I will keep you up-
dated on the group contact. If,
for whatever reason, you are not
on it and are interested please
let me know.
Eventing - Mary Pritchard
Jess White & Emily Wells winning best shoot and best swim at the
West Warks triathlon
We put out a good team for the
Warwickshire and West Warwick-
shire after the Area triathlon had to
be cancelled. Whilst we use the early season triathlons as training
sessions and to help new members
get some competition experience
before the riding element is intro-
duced, we had some excellent re-
sults this spring.
We lost some of our members to
skiing at the Warwickshire com-
petiton, but still had some good
results. Peter Young and Timon
White were in their first senior
boys competition, a big jump up to
4 minutes swimming and 2km run-ning. Peter did incredibly well to
come second with most boys 2-3
years older than him and together
Peter and Timon’s team came first.
Kate Darlison also came fourth indi-
vidual in the tadpole girls, always a
big class.
Two weeks later we also had some
good success. Emily Wells and Jes-
sica White were not confident of
their fitness with A level and Uni-
versity exams looming, but after two disciplines they had won best
swim and best shoot and were first
and second respectively. Whilst
the run is their least favourite disci-
pline and they dropped a little in
the final results, their team won the
competition. Ann Russell had a great day coming fifth individual in
the mini girls and we have found a
new excellent runner in Max
McLeod, giving him fourth individ-
ual tadpole boy.
This weekend we have our first tetrathlon competition, the Cots-
wold Vale Farmers Hunt and every-
one is looking forward to the first
riding competition of the season.
Do join us in what is a fun disci-
pline. Shooting training is on
Wednesday nights at Mill house,
Little Shrewley.
sistently well in their competitions. The Senior Stripe Team unfortu-
nately haven’t had many opportunities to compete as yet but under Rachel’s excellent training are making great progress. The Senior
Spots Team started the season with a couple of rather disappointing
results, however with hard work and dedication from Melanie,
Aron and the team members, have made huge improvements and
are proving to be up there with the main HOYS teams!
We are always looking for new team members. You need to be 14 years old or under, and ride a pony under 14.2hh. If you are inter-
ested in coming to join us please contact me.
Mounted Games and PPC - Leah Haven
Firstly I would like to say a massive
big thank you to all the trainers (Melanie, Aron, Rachel and Janet)
for their hard work and dedication
to our PPC teams, and secondly to
all the parents for their help and
support over the past few months. I
couldn’t have taken this role on
without you all!
This has been the start of a very
busy season for us all. Having
hosted our own Friendly Competi-
tion at Stoneleigh Park (which was
most successful due to all the hard-
work put in by the PPC team and other very willing volunteers), the
teams have been competing all
over the UK. We’ve already been to
Cheshire and Hertfordshire, will be
off to Shropshire, Leicestershire
and Northamptonshire shortly, and
will be heading down to Dorset later in the summer.
Our teams have gone from strength
to strength, with our Juniors Team
trained by Janet, proving a force to
be reckoned with, and doing con-

SUMMER PROGRAMME 2011
Here we are at the start of a very
exciting season. The Polocrosse World Cup is be-
ing hosted for the first time by
the UK this year and fortunately
very locally for us at Onley
Grounds. The Pony Club has a
competition running at the
World Cup and some of our North Warwickshire members
have been attending a selection
process to be on the Eng-
lish team. As yet we don't know
who the fortunate candidates
will be.
Alice Zawoda and Pip Rowland
have both been selected to play in the under 16's squad this year
and after the success of last
year’s Pony Club Champion-ships our North Warwickshire
polocrosse players are taking
the country by storm!
We have already had three suc-
cessfull rallies this year with
several new faces looking very
promising. We have another rally at Offchurch coming up on
the 1st June, so if you want to
have a go please come
along. You do really need to be
at least 6 years old and be confi-
dently in control in canter.
We will be starting practices
(weather permitting) just out-side Tysoe on my home fields on
Wednesday 11th June. Please
ring for more details. If you are one of our older more experi-
enced players please
feel welcome to come to our
Wednesday practices. We need
you now to pull up the young-
sters and newcomers. This is
your time to 'give back' some of the encouragement Pony Club
has given to you over the years.
Here's hoping to another suc-
cessful season and definitely a
very exciting one as this sport
continues to grow!

Mini Camp
Frankton Grounds Farm, Frankton
26th to 28th July, £45
Camp Organiser : Claire Marston 01676 521099 or 07980 591469 Mini Camp is for those who have, by the first day of camp, not reached their 9th birthday. However, in some cases older children will be accepted if they are not considered ready for midi camp. If there are spaces you may apply to both Mini and Midi camps, children will be considered on an individual basis. If you are unsure please speak to the Claire Marston.
Camp is for three days, 10am to 4pm, and is not residential, however you may if you wish, leave the pony at camp and they are turned out at night in a paddock at your own risk. Children ride twice each day and helpers/leaders are provided. Parents do not stay during the day but are invited back for the last afternoon to watch the children per-form, followed by tea and presentations. Children bring their own packed lunch.
How to Apply for Summer Camps 2011 All camps require you to apply for camp, together with your payment or BACS notification, using the same Camp Application Letter.
May 3rd
Camp Application letters will be emailed out to members on May 3rd. If you do not receive one then they will also be available to download from the Parent’s Info page on the NWPC website. For those not on email then Application Letters will posted out to you.
Applications, together with the appropriate money, should be returned to the designated person by May 27th at the latest. This year you will be able to pay by BACS, its success is dependent upon you referencing the payment clearly. We ask that you use your Pony Club membership number (this will be sent to you with the Camp Application letter) together with the word “CAMP”.
May 27th
Camp Information Packs will be available to download from the Parent’s Info page, on NWPC website, from May 27th. They will not be emailed to you as in previous years. Those members who do not have access to the internet will be sent a Camp Pack in the post based on the information given in the Application letter.
Applications made after May 27th will be put on a waitlist and will have to wait for confirmation that there is space.
These packs will give you full details about the camp and the forms for completion provide the organiser with all the information they need about your child and their pony to ensure camp runs smoothly. Again, it is important that you return the required forms by June 20th.
Applications made after June 20th may incur a £10 late booking fee

SUMMER PROGRAMME 2011
Main Camp
Offchurch Bury, Offchurch
7th -12th August, £220
Camp Organiser : Gill Bleloch, 01926 817369 or 07788 823476
Main Camp is for those who have attained their 11th birthday by the first day of camp and considered ready. Please dis-cuss with Gill Bleloch, camp organiser, if you are unsure as to which camp will suit.
Camp is residential for five nights and the ponies/horses are stabled for the entire period. Children may sleep in cara-vans, tents or lorry’s (no trailers please). Do not worry if you have no one to sleep with we will help you find someone. There will be adults sleeping over with the children each night.
All meals are provided for both your child and their pony/horse. Parents are asked to help in preparing all meals on a rota basis. Parents are invited to the barbeque evening on Thursday night, should you need to come into camp for any other reason, for safety reasons, you are asked to report to designated people first.
Each ride has an Instructor and Junior Instructor, children need to be able to tack up and handle their own ponies and be safe in open fields.
Offchurch Bury offers wonderful facilities, including an exceptional cross-country course. We want camp to be available to all members and therefore offer the chance for those who do not jump to join in. This year, for the first time, we are going to offer a Polocrosse ride . This will be a ride for those specialising in polocrosse and games but will include flat-work, river swimming, rides around the park and jumping for those who wish to do so. We can also accommodate non-jumpers either within specific rides, depending on numbers, or by putting them with other rides while their own ride goes off jumping. If you are in any doubt please speak to Gill Bleloch.
Midi Camp
Snowford Hill Farm, Long Itchington
1st to 3rd August, £70 Camp Organiser : Liz Grindal, 01926 815108 or 07801 848196
Midi camp is for those who, by the start of camp, have attained their 9th birthday and have not reached their 11th birthday. However, older children will be accepted if they are considered not ready for main camp. If there are spaces you may apply to more than one camp, children will be considered on an individual basis. If you are unsure please speak to the Liz Grin-dal to discuss which camp is most suitable.
Camp is residential for two nights and the ponies are accommodated in fields either separated by your own electric pens or in paddocks split between mares and geldings. There are a very limited number of stables available at extra cost. Children may sleep in caravans, tents and lorry’s (no trailers please). Do not worry if you have no one to sleep with, we will help you find someone. There will be at least two adults sleeping over with the children each night.
All meals are provided but parents are asked for a contribution to one evening meal, plus a homemade cake! Parents will be asked to help in the kitchen in preparing meals on a rota basis and are invited back on the last afternoon to watch their children ride. Each ride has an Instructor and two helpers, so there is plenty of help for the children should they need it. Children do not need to be able to tack up but should be confident in handling their own pony.
They will be given the opportunity to do flatwork, games, show jumping and cross-country, children will be encouraged to jump but it is not vital that they are able to. Non-jumping ponies will be accommodated. In the evening they will take part in evening activities and if the weather allows they will get the chance to swim if they wish.
Firstly congratulations to Zara Heath-
cote for passing her full B test in April
and to Charlotte Dronfield, Nicola Boon
and Emily Wells for passing the riding.
They all now hold the full B test.
Many of you are booked in for the C and
C+ riding sessions in May. We will hold
a test shortly afterwards and will let you
know if we feel you are ready to take
the test. If you are not quite ready don’t
panic! There will be lots of opportunity
in the near future.
For those of you with C+ and above.
Area 7 holds training days for B, AH and
A test candidates. If you are hoping to
take any of these tests you MUST attend
these days. They really will help you .

This test is aimed at those aged 12 and above. North Warwickshire branch prefer that this test, as opposed to the Road
Rider Achievement badge, is passed prior to C test so we are offering the Road Rider
test to members aged 11 and over who are hoping to take their C Test in either 2011 or
2012.
If you hold the Road Rider Achievement Badge (taken at main camp last year) then this
is acceptable before taking your C test and you are not required to take the Road Rider
test until before you take your B Test. However, we would highly recommend you fur-
ther your riding and road safety training by taking the Road Rider test at the earliest
opportunity.
Training for the Road Rider test will be on Saturday 28th May and Saturday 4th June 10-
12 noon at Moreton Morrell. These sessions are unmounted. The mounted training will
be on Saturday 18th June (again 10-12) at White Hall Farm, Leamington Road, Long Itch-
ington, CV47 9PU with the test on the evening of Friday 1st July. To register for this
training or for more details please email Barbara Milburn at [email protected] or

SUMMER PROGRAMME 2011
There are area team competitions at novice, intermediate and open level
• Members must be active in the Branch; not just attending the minimum 3 rallies. Active means regular atten-dance and can include helping at events and rallies. Where possible attendance at camp is desirable.
• Teams will be chosen by the Team Manager, with input from D.C.,Trainer and Chief Instructor.
• Any team that qualifies for further events may be subject to change at the discretion of Team Manager, D.C. and Chief Instructor.
• Training will be given in all disciplines.
• Members competing in Open teams should have attained their C Test as a minimum or be actively working to-wards C.
• Members representing their Branch must be competent and able to ride safely at the standard requested.
• Members and horses will be expected to be turned out correctly according to the rules of the discipline and be a credit to the Branch.
Members interested in representing the NWPC in any team competitions should contact the relevant discipline manager early in the year. Please note that for Eventing we are now allowed to include one team member who has at-tained their B Test in each Novice team and one associate member in each Open team.
Remember it is a privilege to be chosen to represent the Branch and members should show commitment and respect to Team Manager, trainers and other team members.
Finally, it is a TEAM competition and whilst we all want to do well, we all have our days when things don’t go according to plan. Team members and parents should support one another through the good and the bad days, we all have them. Parents, you are there to support, undue pressure does not help any one, be it your own child or other team members. So PLEASE be supportive to all the team equally.

It is also important to remember that qualification applies to each horse/pony, however, it does not have to be ridden at the rally/camp by the person competing in the area competition.
