Created in Slovakia in early 1950´s
Result of sofistic crosses mosty between Weimaraner an Cesky Fousek, with blood addition of German Wireahired Pointer and Pudelpointer .
Creator of the breed, Mr. Koloman Slimák (1903- 1996)

Size- mediumMales 62-68 cm
Females 57-64 cm.
Dog of moderate strength, working type, but with nobleness in his lines. The basic colour of the coat is called “grey” and the hair is harsh (hard). He must be fit and able to work on the plain, in the woods and in the water and especially to work after the shooting, searching and retrieving wounded game. He is obedient and easy to train.
Coat - ideal Slovak coat consists of a short, fine undercoat covered by a flat- lying, harsh topcoat of approximately 4 cm length.
Facial furnishing include a well- developed moustache, beard and eyebrows. The hair on ears is short and soft.
Typical colour is grey (range from very light silver- grey to a darker grey).
About 20% of the population is grey roan.
Bred by and for hunters
Its pace is medium gallop out to about 80 to 100 meters in open areas and closer when
working in tigher cover.SRhP are excellent
pointers.
Working after the shot is the strong suit of Slovak.
SRhP loves to work in water areas.
SRhP have strong natural ability to track.
Right Slovak is sharp on various vermint.
But SRhP is also excelent family and
and show dog...
Nowadays there is a small population of about 350 SRhP´s and also with great support
from SAVLMZ this breed can improve forward for the future.
