We will have a brief business meeting to discuss disbanding the PTO and transferring funds to the new PTSA at the end of the fiscal year. After that, we'll have a forum about safety, security and students issues on campus and in the community. Our guest speakers will be school resource officer Ryan Dawson and Vice Principal Ryan Templeman. We'll also discuss Foothill's new security system that includes 13 cameras funded with $40,000 in PTO funds. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Everyone can take part in discussions, but PTO members only may vote on action items. The California Assessment of Student Performances (CAASPP) science test is multiple choice. The tests are designed to assess student achievement regarding California's academic standards in science. There will be a brief volunteer training session Wednesday, April 22 at 8 a.m. in room C-6.

Limited Schedule Changes Be sure to check your snail mail for personalized letters to families outlining their student's course requests for the 2015-2016 school year. The letter explains how to request qualifying course changes.
All change requests are due to the counseling office by Friday, May 1. All requests must be submitted in writing. These requests cannot be made online.
Not all course changes will be accepted at this time. Some requests will need to be submitted in the fall.
The limited reasons for course changes are:
Requested the wrong level (i.e. Spanish III vs. Spanish I) or would like to move up or down a level in the same subject Missing a graduation requirement Missing a UC/CSU minimum eligibility requirement Student is eligible for 7th period and did not sign up or would like to drop 7th period Seniors only -- request to be a teaching assistant (TA) Qualifying summer course enrollment per supplemental form
HELP! Food & Volunteers Needed for Teacher Lunch We need the support of lots of outstanding parents to put on a wonderful appreciation lunch for Foothill's teachers on Friday, May 1.
This year's teacher appreciation lunch is a potluck affair. That means we need lots of talented parents to fix their favorite dishes to share at the luncheon. Don't like to cook? No worries. We'll gladly accept store-bought meals, side dishes and desserts.
We need main dishes, salads (green/pasta), fruit platters, desserts and bottled water.
We also need parents to help set up, serve and clean up from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Junior Prom It's time to start planning for this year's junior prom Saturday, April 25 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Robert Livermore Community Center in Livermore.
Tickets will be sold at school April 14-17 for $80 with an ASB sticker and $85 without the sticker. The price jumps to $85 with ASB sticker and $90 without sticker for tickets sold April 20 & 21. (ASB sticker price does not apply to guests.) Late tickets will be $100.
Tickets may be bought before/after school and during lunch at the student activities window at the main office. Students must have a signed junior prom agreement form and Foothill ID in order to buy tickets. Click here for the form to complete and turn in with your ticket purchase. The ticket price includes drinks and desserts at the event.

Photos will be taken before the prom from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Foothill's small gym.
Family Pasta Night
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18 when the senior class will host a pasta feed from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the multipurpose room.
The evening's meal will include unlimited pasta, salad and bread, plus your choice of water or soda. There will be dessert and silent auctions throughout the evening.
Advance tickets are $20 per person, $45 for a family of four and $10 for Foothill students and teachers. Tickets at the door are $25 per person, $60 per family and $15 for students.

Every ticket purchased will get the person one raffle entry for a trip for two to Las Vegas, including airfare and a three-day, two-night stay at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. You must be at least 21 years old to redeem raffle prize.
All proceeds will benefit the senior class of 2015.

PTO Scholarship Help Needed The PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) needs a few dedicated volunteers to read PTO scholarship applications in late April.
Volunteers can read applications at home, but they must attend one meeting in May to discuss applications with other volunteers and choose recipients. We cannot accept volunteers who have students who are seniors.

Get Involved with New PTSA Help shape Foothill's future by getting involved in our newly formed PTSA -- Parent-Teacher-Student Association.
The PTSA offers vital support for the school and provides funding for teacher development, teacher and staff grants, student support, school-wide improvements, community events and staff appreciation events. This is an opportunity for you to make a difference at Foothill and in our community by being involved with decision-making and planning.
We need a great leadership team, so nominate yourself or someone you think would enjoy serving on the Foothill PTSA board. Students and teachers may be nominated, along with any adult in the Foothill community. Board positions include, but are not limited to, president, vice president membership, vice president student life, vice president fundraising, secretary and treasurer.

Late-Day Change in May The late-day schedule the week of May 18 is being changed to accommodate the testing schedule for juniors. The bell schedule change applies to ALL students.
Late day will be Monday, May 18 with school starting at 8:53 a.m. for all students (7:52 a.m. for A period).
There will be no late day on Wednesday, May 20, so school will start at 8:01 a.m. for all students (7 a.m. for A period).

High School Course Offerings Survey Current high school students and their parents are encouraged to complete a brief survey regarding courses offered at the high schools.
The survey will help determine how well the current course offerings and curriculum pathways offer adequate options for students to ensure they are college- and career-ready when they graduate..

PUSD Film Festival: Entries Due by April 30 The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) is hosting its first-ever short film festival to highlight student creations. All submissions are due no later than April 30. There are multiple categories, but all films must be 3 minutes or shorter. Please click here for details and the link to submit digital shorts.

All entries will be shown at the PUSD (Short) Film Festival on Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Ave. Everyone is invited to attend this free event. Refreshments will be served. Please click here to RSVP.
Common Core State Standards Workshop Parents are invited to attend a Common Core State Standards workshop Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Amador Valley High School, 1155 Santa Rita Road.
The workshop presented by Pleasanton school district and Alameda County Office of Education staff will include:
An overview of Common Core State Standards Resources available for use with newly adopted math materials for 2015-16 Depth of knowledge and cognitive rigor Project Lead the Way and college/career pathways Literacy across the curriculum
Summer School Registration Now Open Students who need to make up courses required for high school graduation or college entrance may sign up for summer school through Friday, May 29.
Summer school is only for students who must retake classes in which they made a D or F. Click here for FAQs with lots of great info about summer school, including who is eligible to enroll. High school summer school will be held at Foothill June 22 through July 30. Classes are held Monday through Thursday with two periods offered daily.

Students must have their counselor's approval before enrolling in any summer classes, including college and online courses. Students who qualify will receive a written notification by mail. If your student does not yet have a D or F but might this semester, please sign him/her up for summer school to save a spot.
After-School & Evening Tutoring Foothill offers free after-school and evening tutoring in math, science, English and social studies.
Tutoring is offered in the library Monday through Thursday

College Prep Courses Students can get prepared for college and college prep exams with a variety of courses offered as fundraisers for the Foothill PTO.

Sign Up for Talon Talk Senior News
Graduation is just around the corner, which means we're now sending targeted e-mails to senior families.
It's super easy to sign up for the senior Talon Talk. Look at the bottom of this e-mail for Update Profile/Email Address and click on that link. You'll get an e-mail that will give you prompts for updating your e-mail preferences. You're already on the Talon Talk list, so all you need to do is make sure you've also checked the box for the 2015 graduation year list -- and any other grad year lists for your younger kids. Be sure to save your changes.
The Talon Talk senior e-mails will go out on the first of each month with a special senior e-mail the week of graduation.
College News & Campus Visits Juniors, seniors and their parents should bookmark the Foothill website's career center pages to keep up on the latest college, career and military news.
The career center pages are where you'll find dates for the many upcoming campus visits by college reps from California, private and out-of-state colleges. You'll also find info about important upcoming events, such as financial aid and college application workshops.
