Taylor County 4-H Newsletter

March/April

2014

Thank you for sharing 4-H with me Dear 4-H Families and Friends,

I have been fortunate to work with the youth and volunteers of the Taylor County 4-H program for the past five years and hold those experiences in high regard. I would like to first express that I have appreciated and grown from my experience working with the 4-H program.

Effective March 31, 2014, I am resigning from my position as Taylor County 4-H Agent. I will remain in the area and working for UW-Extension to serve people of Taylor County through my new position as the Community Resource Development Agent.

The 4-H community has been great to work with. It has also been a pleasure to watch the program incorporate more youth development principles. Thank you for the opportunities and experiences you have provided me these past five years.

The Taylor County UWEX office staff will do their best to meet the needs of the 4-H program as the process to hire a new 4-H agent begins. Please be respectful and realize that some things will have to be placed on hold until the new agent starts.

Again, thank you for sharing this experience with me and I look forward to continuing to see your family grow in 4-H.

Sincerely,

Michelle Grimm, Taylor County 4-H Youth Development Agent

LAST CHANCE

4-H Volunteer Training 4-H Volunteer Leader Training, also known as Youth Protection Training, is required to be a certified 4-H volunteer. Wisconsin 4-H requires this training for vol-unteers to lead youth activities without accompaniment of another certified leader. It also allows leaders to be covered under our 4-H liability insurance. If your enroll-ment as a leader is still pending in 4HOnline, it may be because you haven’t yet finished this training.

Trainings will be held:

Monday, March 17 1 p.m. or 5 p.m.

UW-Extension Office, Medford

The training takes a little over an hour. This will be the last chance to take this training in Taylor County until a new 4-H agent is hired.

Please RSVP to Michelle Grimm at 715-748-3327 ext. 4 or [email protected]. If none of these dates/times work for you, you may also contact her to see if an alternate time can be scheduled.

State Horse Bowl, Hippology, Public Speaking and Demonstration contests will be held May 9 and 10 at UW-Marathon in Wausau. The speaking events will be held Friday evening, May 9. Horse Bowl and Hippology will be held concurrently on Saturday, May 10.
