CYBER BULLYING
Cyber bullying is a form of verbal bullying. It can
happen through phones, computers, and other
electronic devices. A form of cyber bullying is
blackmail. Blackmail is when you send someone
threatening messages. Blackmail can be harmful to
teens, and may eventually bring them down.
CYBER BULLYING
Cyber-bullying is a major quandary is today’s
society. Cyber-bullying can have a greater effect on
the victims being bullied. When peers use the
internet to bully a teen, they can hide their identity,
and show everyone online how they feel about the
victim. Many people see what is on the internet and
can contribute to the bullying. In return, the victims
develop low self –esteem.
QUICK FACTS ON CYBER BULLYING
Cyber bullying quite simply started when the internet
became a common tool for anonymous users to say what
they please without thinking of the consequences to the
other anonymous users on the internet. So really, cyber
bullying most likely started in the mid 90's when the
internet became immensely popular.
STORY OF TYLER CLEMENTI
“Tyler’s roommate, Dharun Ravi, was later charged fifteen counts not including Tyler’s death” (The New York Times 1). The cyber bullying made Tyler feel embarrassed. Tyler’s low self-esteem level went down, and soon suicidal thoughts began to arise. He would have rather taken his own life than to live with the embarrassment.
SIGNS OF CYBER BULLYING
1. Unusually long hours on the
computer
2. Closes windows when you enter
room
3. Secretive about internet activity
4. Getting behind in school work

(None of these by themselves are a sure indication of being bullied, but several taken together arecause to open a discussion)
