Characteristics of a Christian Leader by Pedro Cruz

INTRODUCTION (Connued):

For Board members, teachers, families, students and for all whomeet each other in this place called Emmanuel Chrisan Community School, there is this challenge: seeking to remain

faithful to Christ, in the curriculum, and in the integraon of faith and learning, but also within the school community as an

instuon. While acng in support of our mission, while capturing every thought for Christ, we need to be mindful in our

role as member of one body, reminding each other that ourSchool community should enrich how we see each other andhow we treat each other, and not reduce these things. We

must, in the middle of striving for excellence, remind ourselvesthat because we are the Body of Christ, we must show

compassion, jusce, mercy and humility to all, especially those whose struggle is great.

Jesus is a very inconvenient God. We must react and respond to every situaon with the significance of the cross in our minds and hearts for aer all we have been called to serve Him. To allow us to pursue this paern of life of Chrisan care, and we must insist on

providing an alternave to the view that would reduce us to the mere posions assigned to us by a non-Chrisan world view. Acknowledging our dualist situaons and recognizing

that even in our school community life we must remain in the world, though not of it, is,finally, how we make our way through our daily challenge to walk with each other.

We are so blessed that Emmanuel teachers love their students andpray that emoons might be healed, hearts made so to the Lord, and wills might be subject to His will. Please, connue to pray for

your school that we never depart from His way.

We are the instruments that the Father has to show the invisible

God and make Him visible. We can make God visible to others andwhat a wonderful privilege it is!

As the Church and the School Board seeks new leaders, what are theessenal characteriscs of a leader in Emmanuel Chrisan Community School? This paper is based on an assumpon. That

assumpon is that the Chrisan school leader is the Principal. The school leader is not the School Board. This assumpon will be troubling to some Board’s

members.To Be Connued...

We must

remind ourselves

to show

to all…

THANK YOU to all parents who are observing school traffic and parking rules, using

footpaths and holding their children’s hand as they cross the road. ALL the classes from

Kindy to Year 2 have had ROAD SAFETY and RULES lessons with their teachers.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE!

“I have enjoyed working with Emmanuel Chrisan School students to further develop their art skills. We

have very many talented students within ourcommunity and it was a very hard choice when Year 8s

were given the task of vong for the best work of their peers.

The 9”x5” study (reminiscent of the Australian

Heidelberg School) was awarded to Rohan Schinkel forhis beauful small study of a sunset. The best

landscape on board was awarded to Victoria Pavkovichfor her very competent painng of an impressionist

landscape.

The prize awarded to both students was to have theirpainngs framed and this was done by Metropolitan

Framing in Ellenbrook who have been very generous intheir support of ECCS; oen supplying art boards free and giving us a sizeable discount on framing.”

The works are currently on display in the school library.

The Cow Tripped over The Moon

Today we walked over to the church for our assembly. We read

The Cow Tripped over the Moon. We had fun. First we walked

to the church and the stage. The actors got ready. Next we

performed our assembly. We read the cow tripped over the

moon. After that we sang a song. It is called We are Australian.

We sang to our parents. We sat on the chair. We had a book.

The book was called The Cow Tripped Over The Moon. We

had fun the whole time. We went to the church. Parents

watched us. We had pictures. We had fun.

Congratulaons to the wonderful year 7 Design & Technology class inmaking their beauful handmade pillowslips . They collected them onFriday with a celebratory chocolatefor all thei r hard work!

Seeing how far they have come in learning how to sew was a shock tomany of them as they admired each other’s work. From vibrant paerns , bold colours and snappy trim to pastel hues with matched borders , theywere able to plan, design and create something they can use which givespleasure as they snuggle to sleep each night.

Parents , please be advised they can now do themending too:

• sewing on buons

• sewing that pesky hem thathas come down

• fixing hooks and eyes which have come apart

There were some surprises too with Taban takingto sewing on a machine as a total expert from hisfirst stch! Another student was overheardsaying “who knew sewing could be sorelaxing?” Also, more than one student wasconvinced that there was no hole in thei r needleas they tried to thread i t! Hahaha
