Removing Students.

You can remove specific students from sitting the assessment. This may be because:

- The student will be away on the designated day and will sit the assessment at another time.- The student qualifies for Special Assessment Conditions and requires extra time.

In these cases, you will need to set them another assessment with a unique code. Don't worry, the assessment will beexactly the same.

For the eMCAT assessment on either 8 or 10 September, you will need to notify the team at EducationPerfect of these special conditions.

To remove specific students, on the right hand side click the button 'Click here'.

Choose your assessment.

Here you can see three original 1.2 practice exams. The five 2010-2014 past exams have been updated to the newassessment format for extra consolidation.

At the bottom of the selection, there is also a new 1.2 Algebra End of Topic Test. This test is hidden from yourstudents, so it would be ideal eMCAT trial run for your class!

You can preview the assessment or just confirm selection.

In this example, we have selected the 1.2 Algebra End of Topic Test - NEW.

Give the task a name.

You can rename the assessment here, for example 1.2 eMCAT Practice.

Step 3: Assessment Setup.

Check the box 'Require students to enter an access code to start the test'.

By generating a unique code, your students can't start the assessment early, only when you're ready to share the code! Most schools will write the code on the whiteboard once all students are ready to sit the assessment.

Check the box 'Require students to do this exam only in full-screen mode'.

DO NOT check 'Allow multiple attempts at this exam'. Students are only allowed ONE attempt at the pilot onlineexamination.

DO NOT change the test marking. The practice test will be marked by you, the teacher. For the real eMCAT, NZQAwill mark the assessment.

Students with Special Assessment Conditions:

• If you have students who are entitled to extra time, you will need to create a separate assessment for them witha different time allocation.

• To do this, make sure they are first removed from the general class (see Step 1: Who? Removing Students).• Then create a new assessment for them (just as this process so far) and change the time from 60 minutes to

however long they are entitled to.

Assessment Setup Code.

In this example, the code is XMLYJ9. You would write this on the whiteboard once your students have logged on andare all ready to start the assessment.

Students can only start the examination once they have the code.

If you are doing the assessment with different classes over different times, you can generate new codes as soon as aclass has completed the assessment. This prevents students from sharing codes and accessing the assessment.

For the real eMCAT, you will be emailed your code in advance of the assessment day.

Step 4: When? Choosing the time period for the assessment.

Students are allowed 60 minutes for the eMCAT assessment. Each assessment has a countdown timer built into it. Assoon as a student types in the code, the assessment countdown will start for them. The assessment willautomatically close down after 60 minutes after the student starts the assessment.

This step is just when you want the window for the assessment is to take place. You have the flexibility to assign theassessment in advance - just choose the start date and time, and the end date and time. We recommend youprovide a generous time window here - for example starting 10 minutes before the start of the period inwhich you're going to do the task, and ending 30 minutes after the period ends. This allows for students toaccess the internet, login, sort out any minor technical issues, then get going.

For the real eMCAT, you will have a window from 9am to 12pm (midday) on the day of your assessment.

Here, there will be information about monitoring your students during the assessment. More information will come onthis.

Monitoring students during the examination.

It is the responsibility of the invigilator to monitor students' devices during the examination.

However, Education Perfect have built four features to help you monitor and manage the examination.
