Saying goodbye, particularly when it is a loved one, is not an easy task. It is associated with changes, the feeling of an end and in some cases with the unpredictability of maybe not seeing them again. Sometimes it is very hard to understand and it is a challenge to accept it. Saying goodbye is not easy. In the Gospel of this Sunday where we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, marks the end of his mission here on earth and his return to the glory of the Father. Through the merits of his life, passion, death and resurrection, Christ has restored the relationship between humanity and its Creator. With the Ascension of Christ our resurrection from the dead is reaffirmed and we are shown the final destiny of man: to go to heaven. Again the divine order has prevailed. How beautiful is our God who "has come down from the mountain", has visited his people and has come back to it, taking us with him, with the promise of being raised to the Father at the end of time, justified, redeemed and saved! What for some can be perceived as a sign of abandonment is actually a pause in our journey towards God. Christ has told us that he will be with us always "until the end of time". Simultaneously it tells us that we have a commission, a duty. We have been made partakers of the mysteries of God and we are expected to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of a Trinitarian God. To some extent the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ does not merely reaffirm what He can do for us, which He has demonstrated with His cross and resurrection, but what we can do for Christ. We are called to be collaborators of the Kingdom of God. What we do, what we say in an effort to evangelize the world, will make us living and open gospels so that the world can see, hear and feel the wonders of the Lord. Only then will our own assumption to heaven be guaranteed by fulfilling his word and recognizing the salvation that comes from our God, the God of all.

El decir adiós, particularmente cuando es a un ser querido, no es una tarea fácil. Está asociado con cambios, el sentimiento de un final y en algunos casos con lo impredecible de quizás el no volver a verles. En ocasiones es muy duro el entenderlo y es un reto el aceptarlo. El decir adiós no es fácil. En el evangelio de este domingo donde celebramos la solemnidad de la Ascensión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, marca el final de su misión aquí en la tierra y su retorno a la gloria del Padre. A través de los méritos de su vida, pasión, muerte y resurrección, Cristo ha restablecido la relación entre la humanidad y su Creador. Con la Ascensión de Cristo nuestra resurrección de entre las

muertos es reafirmada y se nos señala el destino final del hombre: ir al cielo. Nuevamente el orden divino ha prevalecido. ¡Cuán hermoso es nuestro Dios que “ha

bajado de la montaña”, ha visitado a su pueblo y ha vuelto a subir a la misma, llevándonos con él, con la promesa de ser elevados al Padre al final de los tiempos, justificados, redimidos y salvos! Lo que para algunos se puede percibir como una muestra de abandono es en realidad una pausa en nuestra jornada hacia Dios. Cristo nos ha dicho que estará con nosotros siempre “hasta

el final de los tiempos”. Simultáneamente nos indica que tenemos una comisión, un deber. Hemos sido hechos partícipes de los misterios de Dios y se espera

de nosotros el hacer discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre de un Dios Trinitario. En cierta medida la Ascensión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo no meramente reafirma lo que él puede hacer por nosotros, cosa que ha demostrado con su cruz y resurrección, sino lo que nosotros podemos hacer por Cristo. Estamos llamados a ser colaboradores del Reino de Dios. Lo que hagamos, lo que digamos en un esfuerzo por evangelizar el mundo, nos convertirá en evangelios vivientes y abiertos para que el mundo pueda ver, escuchar y palpar las maravillas del Señor. Solo así nuestra propia asunción al cielo estará garantizada al cumplir su palabra y reconocer la salvación que viene de nuestro Dios, el Dios de todos.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS NOTICIAS DEL CATECISMO The Lord's Peace be with you! What a joy it is whenever a milestone is reached! That was the case for our fifteen First Communicants on Saturday, May 5th. That was also the case for our three Candidates who this past Thursday celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. These young individuals have been sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and are now sent in the power of that same Spirit to testify to the fire of God’s love that is burning within them. Listening to the promptings of their heart will enable them to cooperate with God’s plan for their life, and in doing so embark on the fascinating journey of adult faith. They will be accompanied and supported on that journey by the loving encouragement of their parents and sponsors, as well as that of their Saint Aloysius parish family. ¡La Paz del Señor esté con ustedes! ¡Qué alegría es cuando se alcanza una meta! Ese fue el caso de quince de nuestros estudiantes quienes celebraron su Primera Comunión el sábado 5 de mayo. Ese fue también el caso para los tres candidatos que este pasado jueves celebraron el Sacramento de la Confirmación. Estos jóvenes han sido sellados con los dones del Espíritu Santo, y ahora son enviados en el poder de ese mismo Espíritu para testificar sobre el fuego del amor de Dios que arde dentro de ellos. El escuchar los susurros de su corazón les permitirá cooperar con el plan de Dios para su vida, y así embarcar en el viaje fascinante de fe adulta. Serán acompañados y apoyados en ese viaje por el aliento amoroso de sus padres y patrocinadores, así como la de su familia parroquial de San Luis Gonzaga. ¡Felicitaciones y mejores deseos a todos! ¡Qué Dios les bendiga! Last Saturday, fifteen of our Religious Education students received their First Holy Communion. The celebration was well attended, and the First Com-municants were filled with joy and excitement. A special thanks to our students and their families, our Cele-brant Father Claudio, Deacon Bill Smyser, Master of Ceremony Thomas Tran, and the 9:00 A.M. choir….. El sábado pasado, quince de nuestros estudiantes de Educación Religiosa recibieron su Primera Comunión. La celebración fue muy concurrida, y los primeros comunicadores se llenaron de alegría y emoción.
