From the Pastor’s Desk… The vision of the kingdom of God is one of a universal and inclusive nature. The Gospels present us with the image of a king celebrating his son's wedding feast. These festivities required many details, attentions, high protocol and planning. The king of the bonanza, from his heart creates a great festivity thinking in particular of his guests. Then when the chief guests ignored such honor, the king opened his doors to all. The scriptures tell us that the king invited "the good and the wicked," extending the concept of salvation to the Pharisees, Sadducees, teachers of the law and pious who were publicly identified as good, but the invitation was also made for those not considered good as tax collectors, prostitutes and public sinners. But in the middle of the celebration the king discovers that one of his guests did not have the dress of Gala. He was not ready. Obviously the parable has nothing to do with what the guest was wearing physically, but what he was wearing in his disposition and spiritual preparation. The guest presented himself as he wished, without excuses, justifications or reasons for not having corresponded as the invitation and the king deserved. The guest took it for granted and assumed that the king on his terms would receive it. We have received the invitation to the Eucharistic banquet at our baptism. God, without distinction, has opened the doors of the kingdom for us all. But the entrance should not be taken as deserved, light or informal. We have to prepare ourselves to answer and attend such a blessed call. There must be in our response an intentionality, with open eyes and hearts. Baptism is just the call, we cannot keep the dress of baptism. We need to grow in that dress by giving an affirmative, deep and true answer to that call. Let us dress appropriately with our prayer, our sacraments, our devotions and above all with love for God and for our neighbor. Let's go to the party, to Christ. "Come to the banquet. Come to the feast of God. "

Del Escritorio del Párroco… La visión del reino de Dios es una de naturaleza universal e inclusiva. Los evangelios nos presentan la imagen de un rey celebrando el banquete de bodas de su hijo. Estas festividades requerían de muchos detalles, atenciones, sumo protocolo y planificación. El rey de la bonanza, de su corazón crea una gran festividad pensando de manera particular en sus invitados. Luego entonces cuando los invitados principales

ignoraron tal honor, el rey abrió sus puertas a todos. Las escrituras nos indican que el rey invitó a “los buenos y a los malos”, extendiendo el concepto de salvación para los fariseos, saduceos, maestros de la ley y piadosos quienes públicamente eran identificados como buenos, pero también la invitación fue hecha para aquellos no considerados buenos como los recaudadores de impuestos, las prostitutas y los pecadores públicos. Pero en medio de la celebración el rey descubre que uno de sus invitados no tenía el traje de gala. No estaba preparado. Obviamente la parábola no tiene nada que ver con lo que físicamente llevaba el invitado sino lo que llevaba en su disposición y preparación espiritual. El invitado se presentó como quiso, sin excusas, justificaciones o razones por no haber correspondido como la invitación y el rey se merecían. El invitado dio por sentado y asumió que el rey en sus términos lo iba a recibir. Hemos recibido la invitación al banquete eucarístico en nuestro bautismo. Dios, sin distinción alguna, nos ha abierto las puertas del reino para todos. Pero la entrada no se debe tomar como algo merecido, ligero ni informal. Tenemos que prepararnos para contestar y asistir a tan dichoso llamado. Debe haber en nuestra respuesta una intencionalidad, con unos ojos y corazón abiertos. El bautismo es solamente la llamada, no podemos quedarnos con el vestidito del bautismo. Tenemos que crecer en ese vestido dando una respuesta afirmativa, profunda y verdadera a ese llamado. Vistámonos apropiadamente con nuestra oración, nuestros sacramentos, nuestras devociones y sobre todo con amor a Dios y al prójimo. Vayamos a la fiesta, hacia Cristo. “Ven al banquete. Ven a la fiesta de Dios.”

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS NOTICIAS DEL CATECISMO The Lord's Peace be with you!

In this Sunday’s First Reading we hear from the prophet Isaiah that the Lord of Hosts wipes away the tears from every face. And Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Philippians reminds us that as with him we also can do all things strengthened by God Who supplies us always with what we need to live according to His Holy Will. God has called us into intimacy with Him, and should we choose to accept the invitation we will be treated to a most wonderful banquet. Our God wishes to lavishly pour out His saving graces upon us, but this cannot happen without our cooperation. Out of respect for our free will God will never force us to do anything that we do not desire. We are however encouraged to open ourselves to the possibility of accepting what God desires for us. And what the Lord wants for us is so much more than we can ever possibly imagine. God desires that we freely choose that which leads to eternal happiness. Another aspect that is made clear this Sunday concerning God’s call and our response is that our acceptance must be genuine. Isaiah also mentions that the Lord “…will destroy death forever”, and in the Gospel one of the guests to the wedding feast who was not appropriately dressed was cast into the darkness. May we in our response to the Lord’s invitation choose what is right, and in doing so also be one of the chosen.

¡La Paz del Señor esté con ustedes!

En la Primera Lectura de este domingo escuchamos al profeta Isaías que el Señor de los ejércitos enjugará las lágrimas de todos los rostros. Y San Pablo en su Epístola a los Filipenses nos recuerda que como él también todo lo podemos unido a aquel que nos da fuerza para vivir de acuerdo a su Santa Voluntad. Dios nos ha llamado hacia intimidad con Él, y de nosotros decidir aceptar Su invitación se nos brindará el banquete más maravilloso. Nuestro Dios desea derramar abundantemente sobre nosotros Su Gracia Salvífica, pero esto no es posible sin nuestra cooperación. Por respeto a nuestro libre albedrío Dios nunca nos obligará a hacer algo que no deseamos. Sin embargo se nos anima a mantenernos abiertos a la posibilidad de aceptar lo que Dios desea para nosotros. Y lo que el Señor quiere para nosotros es tanto más de lo que nos podríamos imaginar. Dios quiere que elijemos libremente aquello que conducirá a nuestra felicidad eterna. Otro aspecto que es claro este domingo sobre el llamado de Dios y nuestra respuesta es que nuestra aceptación debe ser genuina. Isaías menciona que el Señor "...destruirá para siempre la muerte", y en el Evangelio uno de los invitados al banquete de boda que no estaba apropiadamente vestido fue arrojado a las tinieblas. Que nuestra respuesta a la invitación del Señor sea tal de que entre los llamados seamos también los elegidos.

Why do we pray the Rosary?

One reason the Blessed Mother asked us to pray the rosary is because it benefits anyone at any stage of the Spiritual life from beginners to advanced. Schedules Monday thru Friday at 5:00pm in the church Saturday at 4:00pm in the church Sunday at 2:00pm in the prayer room.

Una razón por la cual la Santísima Virgen nos pidió rezar el rosario es porque beneficia a cualquier persona en cualquier etapa de la vida Espiritual desde principiantes hasta avanzado. The raffle is one of our most important fund-raisers and we count on the sale of the tickets to help us pay our bills. We ask every family to try and buy or sell at least 10 tickets and as many more as possible. Each ticket is $10 and includes as many as 4 chances to win (if you buy them before November 19). • Beginning on November 19 we will have three weeks

of one $200 weekly prize drawing. • We will have a GRAND PRIZE of $2,500

time we draw a winner, their name goes back into the raffle.

News from the Prayer Shawl Ministry Members of our Prayer Shawl Ministry meet weekly to pray for our sick and suffering, creating beautifully hand crocheted shawls for them. Father Claudio blesses the shawls and presents them to the ill or their families at a special mass. We also give them to persons who are ill at their homes or in the hospital. This past year, 40 loved ones from our parish community received prayer shawls and were comforted in knowing that we at St. Aloysius Gonzaga are praying for them. We are beginning our new year of Prayer Shawl Ministry with the hope that we will be able to grow this ministry and be able to serve even more people who are in need of hope, healing and comfort. We meet every Wednesday from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in Room 209 of the Thiele Center.

We welcome new members, male or female; you do not need to know how to crochet or knit, we will teach you. If you are not able to attend but would like to contribute, we also welcome donations of new yarn or funds to buy yarn and supplies. Every shawl uses three skeins of yarn, or about $10, not including the labor, which is priceless. We appreciate your support to continue the success of this important ministry. Noticias del Ministerio de los Mantos de Oración Los miembros de nuestro ministerio de los mantos de oración nos reunimos semanalmente para orar por nuestros enfermos y por los que están sufriendo, tejiéndole mantos bellos hecho a mano. El Padre Claudio los bendice y se los presenta a ellos o a los miembros de sus familias en una misa especial. También se los entregamos a los enfermos en sus casas o en el hospital. Durante este año pasado por lo menos 40 seres queridos de nuestra co-munidad parroquial recibieron mantos y fueron consolados en saber que nosotros de la parroquia San Luis Gon-zaga estamos orando por ellos.

Estamos comenzando nuestro año nuevo del ministerio de Los Mantos de Oración con la esperanza de que podamos aumentar este ministerio y podamos servir aun más personas en necesidad de esperanza, sanación, y consuelo. Nos reunimos todos los miércoles de 10:00 AM hasta las 12:00 PM en el salón 209 del centro Theile. Invitamos a nuevos miembros, barones ó hembras, que se unan a nosotros, no importa si no saben tejer porque les enseñamos. Si no puedes asistir pero te gustaría contribuir a nuestro ministerio, también aceptamos donaciones de estambre nuevo, ó de fondos para comprar estambre y otros materiales. Cada manto lleva tres bolas de estambre, aproximadamente $10 por cada uno, sin contar las horas de maniobras ya que estas no tienen precio. Les agrade-cemos mucho su apoyo para que continúe el éxito de este ministerio tan importante. Natural Disaster Emergency Appeal Second Collection Today A second earthquake has hit Mexico, destroying buildings and homes. The 7.1-magnitude earthquake killed more than 200 people, and the death toll is rising. Catholic Relief Services has been responding in Mexico following the September 7 earthquake, focusing on shelter repairs and immediate relief to vulnerable families in isolated areas outside of Mexico City. On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria, a category 5 storm struck Puerto Rico following Irma’s aftermath from last week. Puerto Rico has reported 44 deaths and 3.4 million people left without electricity and are expecting 8 more inches of rain. As requested by the USCCB, all parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago are invited to take up a second collection at all Masses. Proceeds from this special collection will support humanitarian and recovery efforts in Mexico and Puerto Rico Please consider donating in today’s second collection to support our brothers and sisters in the midst of their suffering.
