From the Pastor’s Desk… The first reading of this Fourth Sunday of Advent proposes a question for King David. What kind of house will you build for the Lord to live? The human being always aims to prolong itself. He wants to leave something in his personal or collective history: he has children, builds monuments, composes songs, organizes revolutions, everything in pursuit of a legacy, resulting in certain occasions in self-sufficiency, creation of idols, pride and secularized messianisms. However, we forget to create with our lives an enclosure, a house, a dwelling worthy of the presence of the "God for whom one lives". In the Gospel we see how God began the creation of a dwelling, of a tabernacle where his Body and Blood, a real presence, was sheltered for nine months; Mary’s womb. Mary of Nazareth becomes the first living tabernacle of the Eucharistic presence. When the Angel greets her "Rejoice you, the beloved and favored one, the Lord is with you", the Most High recognizes the availability of this beautiful being to be a recipient of such an exalted gift. It’s worth mentioning that Mary’s question “How can this be if I don’t know man?”, it’s not a sign of disbelief as happened to the priest Zacarias. Her question is a sign of her desire to understand the will of God the Father and her capacity for critical analysis. By accepting God's plan, "I am the slave of the Lord; fulfill yourself in me according to what you have said.", Mary begets Jesus first in her faith, in her heart, and consequently in her womb. Mary builds a house for God to dwell in herself and in humanity. What kind of house are we building for God? Does the revelation of God allow me to forgive the one who has wronged me? Have I prepared a heart for God this Christmas where there is no fear, no envy, no criticism? Am I allowing through my faith that God may wonder, making my existence a temple for our Savior? Mary confirms the power of God. Our God is the God of the impossible! Let the Most High be present with his light, hope for his children and the liberation of all that may prevent us from reaching Christ. "Because nothing is impossible for God."

Del Escritorio del Párroco… La primera lectura de este Cuarto Domingo de Adviento propone una pregunta para el Rey David. ¿Qué tipo de casa construirás para que habite el Señor? El ser humano siempre tiene como meta el prolongarse. Quiere dejar algo en su historia personal o colectiva: tiene hijos, construye monumentos, compone canciones, organiza revoluciones, todo en pos de un legado, resultando en ciertas

ocasiones en autosuficiencia, creación de ídolos, soberbia y mesianismos secularizados. Sin embargo nos olvidamos de crear con nuestras vidas un recinto, una casa, una morada digna de la presencia del “Dios por quien se vive”. En el evangelio vemos como Dios comenzó la creación de una morada, de un sagrario donde su Cuerpo y Sangre, presencia real, fuese guarecida por nueve meses; el seno de María. María de Nazaret se convierte en el primer tabernáculo viviente de la presencia Eucarística. Cuando el Ángel le saluda “Alégrate tú la amada y favorecida, el Señor está contigo”, ya el Altísimo reconoce la disponibilidad de este hermoso ser para ser recipiente de tan excelso don. Vale la pena señalar que la pregunta de María “¿Cómo podía ser esto sino conozco varón?”, no es un signo de incredulidad como le sucedió al sacerdote Zacarías. Su pregunta es un signo de su deseo en entender la voluntad de Dios Padre y su capacidad de análisis crítico. Al aceptar el plan de Dios, “Yo soy la esclava del Señor; cúmplase en mí según lo que has dicho”, María engendra a Jesús primero en su fe, en su corazón, y por consecuencia en su seno. María le construye una casa a Dios para que morase en ella misma y en la humanidad. ¿Qué tipo de casa le estamos construyendo a Dios? ¿Me permite la revelación de Dios perdonar al que me ha hecho mal? ¿Le he preparado a Dios en esta Navidad un corazón donde no hay temor, ni envidias, ni críticas? ¿Estoy permitiendo a través de mi fe que Dios pueda hacer maravillas, haciendo de mi existencia un templo para nuestro Salvador? María confirma el poder de Dios. ¡Nuestro Dios es el Dios de los imposibles! Permitamos que el Altísimo se haga presente con su luz, la esperanza para sus hijos y la liberación de todo aquello que nos pueda impedir el alcanzar a Cristo. “Porque para Dios nada es imposible”.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS NOTICIAS DEL CATECISMO The Lord's Peace be with you!

The penitential season of Advent is reaching its close. After a long period of preparation, the long awaited arrival of the Christ Child is upon us. As a community of believers, we have faithfully participated in ritual worship in expectation of the long promised Messiah, and now our pilgrimage brings us to a cold, damp cave in the town of Bethlehem, where the virgin birth of the King of Heaven is about to take place. This miraculous event of Christ’s Incarnation speaks of the infinite love God has for us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son…” This is great news indeed, for in taking upon himself our condition in all things but sin, Jesus became the one definitive Way by of our eternal salvation. Let us commit ourselves to living this Christmas season with an attitude of gratitude, in appreciation to God Almighty for all of the daily blessings in our life, and most especially for the ultimate gift of His Son and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God With Us!

¡La Paz del Señor esté con ustedes!

La temporada penitencial de Adviento ha llegado a su fin. Después de un largo período de preparación, está sobre nosotros la tan esperada llegada del niño Jesús. Como una comunidad de creyentes, hemos participado fielmente en ritos de adoración en expectativa del Mesías prometido desde hace mucho tiempo, y ahora nuestra jornada nos lleva al pueblito de Belén, donde el nacimiento virginal del Rey Celestial está a punto de tomar lugar dentro de una cueva fría y húmeda. Este milagroso acontecimiento de la Encarnación de Cristo nos habla del amor infinito que tiene Dios por nosotros. "Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único…" Esta es en verdad una gran noticia, puesto que al tomar sobre sí nuestra condición en todo menos el pecado, Jesús se convirtió en el Camino definitivo de nuestra salvación eterna. ¡Comprometámonos a vivir durante esta temporada de la Navidad con una actitud de gratitud, en agradecimiento al Dios Todopoderoso por todas las bendiciones diarias en nuestra vida, y sobre todo por el regalo supremo de Su Hijo y nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, Dios Con Nosotros!

Christmas Family Mass Raffle Every year at the Family Mass, we give free raffle tickets to all those who attend. Five people will go home with an extra Christmas gift. This year, we will be raffling off five $100 cash prizes. This raffle is only for those who are present for the ENTIRE

Christmas Family Mass at 5:00pm on December 24th. Raffle tickets will be given out as you enter Church until the priest starts the Mass. The drawing will take place after Mass is over.

Rifa en la Misa Navideña Familiar Cada año, tenemos una rifa en la Misa de Familia de Navidad. Los boletos de esta rifa son gratis para todos los que asistan a la Misa. Cinco personas se llevarán a casa un regalo de Navidad extra. Este año, rifaremos tres regalos en efectivo de $100. Esta rifa es solo para los que están presentes en TODA la misa familiar de la Navidad a las 5:00pm el 24 de diciembre. Year End Giving to Charity Throughout the year, we all try to be as generous as possible to help the parish pay its bills and minister to others in need in the name of Christ. We know that the parish uses our gifts as frugally as possible to proclaim the Gospel, teach the Faith, impart the grace of the sacraments, care for the hungry and needy, counsel those who are

hurting as well as couples and families and many other things. The parish must pay its workers, its utilities and insurance, diocesan bills, pay down its debt and save as much as possible for ministry. Before the year ends, we ask you to look at how much you have given and consider if you want to make an additional gift to Saint Aloysius Parish or one of our ministries. You still have time to make your payments to the ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL for this year’s tax credits. Your generosity to the appeal is greatly appreciated.

La Caridad al Fin del Año A través del año, tratamos de ser tan generosos como sea posible para ayudar a la parroquia a pagar sus deudas y ministrar a otros en necesidad en nombre de Cristo. We would like to thank St. Joseph’s Services Mentoring and Apprentice Program for painting our side rooms of the Church. Trained Saint Joseph Services staff provide weekly mentoring sessions to junior high students. The curriculum is designed to develop the adolescent’s critical thinking and leadership skills. Through role modeling and community collaboration, teens will attain a positive self-image, attitude and behavior.

Nos gustaría agradecer a los Servicios de Tutoría y Programa de Aprendices de St. Joseph por pintar nuestras habitaciones laterales de la Iglesia. El personal capacitado de Saint Joseph Services brinda sesiones semanales de tutoría a estudiantes de secundaria.
