THE ANALYSIS OF LOPAKHIN IN THE CHERRY ORCHARD

This story tells about a merchant who wants to buy The Cherry Orchard to a landowner.

His name is Lopakhin, his is neighbor of Madame Ranevsky. His family was peasant at the

time but he is reach man now who has much money. He is one of main characters in this

story. In this analysis will tell about his personality and his conflict.

A. Lopakhin’s character

Lopakhin is one of main characters in this story, He is a neighbor of Madame Ranevsky,

he has not married yet. His father and grandfather were serfs on the cherry orchard estate all

of their lives. Lopakhin’s family was peasant and he was born into a family of serfs,

Lopakhin has managed to use the Liberation of the serfs to his full advantage to wealthy

landowner and a shrewd businessman. He is reach man who has much money.

As a rich merchant, Lopakhin shows different character in his life. He is arrogant, greedy,

bed tempered, and ambitious.

1. Arrogant

Lopakhin is rich merchant. He is neighbor of Madame Ranevsky. He has some

characters, one of them is arrogant. He is arrogant when he waits for Renevsky’s family

come from paris in their house , he is arrogant when he gives information to Ranevsky about

The Charry Orched will be sold him, when he meets Ranevsky and Gaev in the field, when

he talks with Trofimov.

Lopakhin is arrogant when he waits for Ranevsky’s family come from paris in their

house . It proven when Lopakhin sits on the chair while drinking coffe, it is accompanied by

Dunyasha in their living room, Lopakhin gives Dunyasha understanding that Lopakhin is

reach man now and Dunyasha should realise and give him respect.

Lopakhin is arrogant when all of Ranevsky’s family have come from paris and gather

in their living room, Lopakhin knows a little gosip about lubov’s debts. He gives information

to Renevsky about The Cherry Orchard. It proven when he gives time to Renevsky on

August 22nd you should sell The Cherry Orchard to me , because you have not choisen except

sell it to me to pay your debts .

Lopakhin is arrogant when he meets Renevsky and Gaev in the field. It is shown

when Renevsky’s family enjoy in the field, suddenly Lopakhin comes to Renevsky’s family,

Lopakhin with loud voice says to Renevsky’s family a rich man has come, you, Renevsky

does not have enough time again to think about my question, you just say yes or no.

Lopakhin is arrogant when he talks with Trofimov. It is shown when suddenly

Trofimov comes to Lopakhin’s convertation, because Trofinov is smart student who always

help Renevsky’s family , so Trofinov does not agree The Cherry Orchard will be sold to

Lopakhin, with his arrogant lopakhin says angrily to Trofimov and gives advice to Trofinov

as student to be good student do not join in his ambition.

2. Greedy

Lopakhin is a merchan , he will use many ways to get what he wants. He is greedy

when he will buy Cherry Orchard to Ranevsky’s family , he knows there is chance to buy

Cherry estate with cheaper prise, he is greedy when he always talks about money and realise

he was peasant at the time, he is greedy when he knows he is sucess in his ambitions.

Lopakhin is rich man, he want to buy The Cherry Orchard to Ranevsky’s family. He

is greedy when he knows Ranevsky’s condition , he will use many ways to get what he

wants. It proven when he knows Ranevsky’s family has much debts and Lopakhin advices

Ranevsky to sell The Cherry Orchard to him with short time.

Lopakhin is greedy when he will buy The Cherry Orchard by bed way with cheaper

prise. It proven when Ranevsky’s family does not have any choisen to sell it, Although

Ranevsky’s family have greats memories in The Cherry state but it should be sold. he bargens

it with Ranevsky’s debts and few benefit, he will get much money from The Cherry state.

Lopakhin is greedy when he always approaches Ranevsky’s family to buy The

Cherry Orchard. He thinks about money and the benefit than feeling of Ranevsky’s family. It

shown when he close with Ranevsky, he says the charry should be sold as soon as possible .

He does not care about Ranevsky’s felling, altough Ranevsky crys and sad.

Lopakhin is greedy when he is sucsess in his ambitions . It shown when he join at

party, Ranevsky ask him come to lubov’s room and he gets answer from Ranevsky,

Ranevsky already to sell The Cherry Orchard to him. He invites every people to dance and

drink as they want, he drinks too. He is like crazy man in around people.

3. Bed tempered

As young man who has not married yet Lopakhin has bed tempered in his life. He is

bed tempered when stays in his room then convertation with Dunyasa, bed tempered when he

waits for Ranevsky’s answer in his ambitions, he is bed tempered when listens Trofimov

statement.

Lopakhin is bed tempered when he sits on the chair while waiting for Ranevsky’s

family come from paris, he talks something with Dunyasa suddenly Epikhodov comes and

shows up to Lopakhin about Epikhodov’s coat and shoes. Lopakhin is angry to Epikhodov

while drinking coffe he chase Epikhodov go away.

Lopakhin is bed tempered when wait for Ranevsky’s answer in his ambitious. It is

shown when Lopakhin has given time to lubov to think about his offering . Because the time

has been enough so he comes to Ranevsky’s house , but Ranevsky does not answer his

question so he is angry with Ranevsky’s family and he asks to answer soon .

Trofinov meets with Lopakhin in the field, Trofinov is student but Trofinov statements

always wins from Lopakhin as a rich man,because Trofinov is smart than Lopakhin .

Lopakhin is angry with that stetement beacause Trofonov is not suitable say that statement

with Lopakhin.

4. Ambitious

Lopakhin was born from family serf, his father works to Ranevsky till the end of life.

He has many characters one of them is ambitious. He is ambitious when he change become

rich business man, he is ambitious when he should buy The Cherry Orchard,he is ambitious

when he fight argue to lose Trofimov , he is ambitious when Lopakhin bargains Gaev to

believe him and get much the benefit from him.

Lopakhin is ambitious when he changes become rich , business man. It proven when

he remembers his family who had been serf to Ranevsky till the end of life.Lopakhin will

change it becomes up side down . Because he knows Ranevsky has much debts , it is good

ocation for Lopakhin to buy The Cherry Orchard which his dreaming .

Lopakhin is ambitious when he should buy The Cherry Orchard. It shown when

Lopakhin listens little gossip Ranevsky’s family from Dunyasa. He gives many ways to get

it. He knows The Cherry Orchard is strategic location he bargains Renevsky family by bid

bond and he tells Ranevsky will build villas , Ranevsky’s family will get much benefit from

Lopakhin.

Lopakhin is ambitious when he fight argue with Trofinov . It proven when Lopkhin ,

Ranevsky, Gaev, Varya gather in the field , suddenly Trofinov and Anya come to their

convertation , Trofinov give advice to ranevsky family to think first but Lopakhin is offended

,Trofinov gives argue again to Lopakhin , Lopakhin fight argue but Trofinov is smart then

Lopakhin.

Lopakhin is ambitious when he bargains Gaev to believe him. It proven when Gaev

hardly keep The Cherry Orcherd because it has many memories and Ranevsky’s asset. But

Lopakhin does not give up yet, and shows good plan to Gaev. Lopakhin does not

break a building The Cherry Orchard still constant , because Gaev has no choisen so he

agrees with Lopakhin’s bargains.

B. Lopakhin conflict

Lopakhin is a rich merchen in his life, he is from peasent family , so he gets many

conflicts such as psychological conflict and social conflict.

1. Psychological conflict.

Lopakhin experiences psycological conflict when he waits for Ranevsky’s family

come back from paris, he is happy because he will get his ambition, Lopakhin has good

planing because he knows a little gossip Ranevsky has much debts, and Lopakhin’s father

was serf to Ranevsky till the end of life. Now Lopakhin is reach , business men who will get

happines in this plan.

Lopakhin experiences psycological conflict when he gather with Ranevsky in their

living room, Trofimov comes to their convertation and insults Lopakhin in front of

Renevsky’s family. He feels disapointed, he is angry because Trofimov says Lopakhin is

merchan who will be millionaire, will get much money because he knows there is chance.

Lopakhin experience psycological conflict when he joins at Ranevsky’s party ,

Lopakhin fells happy when Ranevsky gives answer and says already to sell The Cherry

Orchard to Lopakhin. He does not believe, it happen because since has been long time

nobody can buy the charry orched .But now he can buy it .

Lopakhin experiences psycological conflict when Varya as Ranevsky’s adopted

daughter admires to Lopakhin, Varya loves Lopakhin since had been long, but Varya so shy

because Lopakhin has changed become rich ,business man. Lopakhin does not have felling to

Varya but he has felling with Anya , and Ranevsky agrees each other.

2. Social conflict

In his environment, Lopakhin has social conflict . He experiences social conflict with

Epikhodov,Ranesky ,Trofimov and Gaev.

1. Lopakhin vs Epikhodov

Lopakhin gets social conflict with Epikhodov when he waits for Ranevsky’s come

from paris in Ranevsky’ house while drinking coffe in the living room, suddenly Epikhodov

comes and flates Dunyasha as house maid in front of Lopakhin, Epikhodov shows new

coat ,new shoes to Lopakhin , Lopakhin is annoyed to Epikhodov and asks Epikhodov get

out from living room .

2. Lopakhin vs Ranevsky

Lopakhin also has social conflict with Ranevsky when he comes to Ranevsky’s house

ask about The Cherry Orchard will be sold by Lopakhin, Lopakhin gives little time and ask

them to think fast. But Ranevsky does not agree with Lopakhin because it is too soon ,The

Cherry Orchard has lot of memories for Ranevsky’s family

3. Lopakhin vs Trofimov

Lopakhin gets social conflict with Trofimov when they meet in the field and talk

about Cherry Orchard, Trofimov listens their convertation about The Cherry Orchard will be

sold by Ranevsky’s family to Lopakhin which his ambitous since long time ago , so

Trofimov tries to stop it, because it has many memories for Ranevsky’s family , Trofinov

says to Lopakhin that he is rich man but does not heart . Lopakhin is angry to Trofinov

because that statement.

4. Lopakhin vs Gaev

Lopakhin gets social conflict with Gaef when he talks about his plan to build villa

around The Cherry orchard, without break The Cherry Orchard , Gaev’s family will

be happy ,rich,splendid because it is safe to say twenty years time the villa resident

wiil be all over the place . But Gaev does not agree because it has many memories for

Gaef’s family, Lopakhin is angry and leave Gaef by saying in bed sentence.

THE ANALYSIS OF TROFIMOV IN THE CHERRY ORCHARD

This story tells about a man who becomes student, his name is Trofimov . He does not

want The Cherry Orchard to be sold by lubov because it has lot of memories with Madame

Ranevsky deceased son. He is one of main character in this story. In this analysis will tell

about his personality and his conflict.

A. Trofimov’s character

Trofinov is a smart student , he tutored Madame Ranevsky's deceased son, and as

such, represents the past, although he is very concerned with the future. He is an idealist a

student. His intellectual qualities both empower him, by leading him to demand more from

Russia , he loves anya , he is too philosophical to act upon. He often speaks wisely, but he

holds a powerless position and is not able to exert influence.

As a student , trofinov often shows different character in his life. He is kind , smart,

care, helpful

1. Kind

As tutored Madame Ranevsky son at the past, he has kind characters. He is kind when

he meets Ranevky’s family in their house which come back from paris, he is kind with anya,

he is kind with Lopakhin who wants to buy Ranevsky’s estate, he is kind when he listen

Ranevsky has much debts.

Trofinov has many memories with Ranevsky family,he was tutor of Ranevsky’s son .

He is kind when Ranevsky family come back from paris to their estate. It proven when

Trofinov meets Ranevsky, they are crying remember Grisha as Ranevsky’s son. Trofinov

says softly with Ranevsky and give Ranevsky composure.

Trofinov is kind with Anya. It proven when Trofinov talks with Anya about his

feeling in the field. They are left by Ranevsky’s family and Lophakin. Trofinov and Anya

love each other. Trofinov wants to keep and give Anya happines, Trofinov gives imagine the

beautiful The Cherry Orchard like Anya who is the the owner of it. Trofinov says will keep

Anya as can as possible.

Trofinov is kind with Lopakhin who wants to buy the estate. It shown when Lopakhin

as Ranevsky’s neighbor always approach Ranevsky by beautiful words although it has many

memories for Trofinov. Trofinov is kind to Lopakhin when says with wisily and gives good

comment to Lopakhin .

Trofinov is kind when he listen Ranevsky family has much debts. It shown when

Trofinov comes the first time to their house after they come back from paris . Renevsky looks

so sad and have not choisen except sell their estate , Trofinov advice to think first before

selling it, because it has many memories since great grandfather.

2. Smart

Trofinov was tutor from Grisha in the past, when Ranevsky remember him, Renevsky

always cray. He has some characters, one of them is smart. He is smart when he gets Anya’s

heart and anya’s feeling, he is smart when he always win in statement with Lopakhin, he is

smart when he says wisely words to people around him.

Trofinov is smart when he gets Anya’s heart and Anya’s felling. It proven when

Trofinov always gather with Anya, Anya is daughter of Ranevsky, and it is not difficult for

Trofinov to approach Anya beacause Trofinov was tutor in Ranevskys family.finally Anya

interestings to Trofinov by beautiful words.

Trofinov smart when he always win statement with Lopakin. It proven when

Lopakhin argu statement about The Cherry Orchard wiil be sold by Lopakhin, Lopakhin

gives gurantee much benefit to Ranevsky but Trofinov does not belive because Trofinov

thinks who will get much money is Lopakhin

Trofinov is smart when says wisely to people around him, It shown when he meets

Ranevsky, he wisely give advice to Ranevsky because Renevsky always remember Grisha ,

he is wisely says to Anya about his feeling, and Anya can not refuse his feeling because his

word is very nice to listen it. Trofinov is smart when argue with Gaev,and Lopakhin in the

field.

3. Care

Trofinov plays a romantic tension with Anya, which he is too philosophical to act

upon. He often speaks wisely, but he holds a powerless position and is not able to exert

influence. He has some characters in his life, one of them cares. He cares when Renevsky’s

family have come back to Rusia from paris , he cares with Anya , he is care with Varya, he is

care with his memories in The Cherry Orchard.

Trofinov cares when Ranevsky’s family have come back from paris, he comes to

their house and hug , kiss Ranevsky softly, Trofinov cares beacuse he was Grisha tutor tutor

at the time, All of people welcome Trofinov in the living rooom. Ranevsky love her son so

much ,so Ranevsky thinks Trofinov is like her family.

Trofinov cares with Anya when he begins stay in the field which is left by Ranevsky.

Trofinov loves to Anya, they make a romantic relationship . They have bright plan in the

future ,Trofinov will keep Anya . Trofinov cares Anya when Anya has problem ,Trofinov

helps Anya as can as possible.

The Cherry Orchard will be sold to Lopakhin, he trys as can as possible gives Renevsky

advice to think first before sell it, because The Cherry Orchard has great memories from great

grandfather. Trofinov cares when Ranevsky is cofused there is not away to pay her debts

exept sell The Cherry Orchard , Trofinov always accompany and give sugestion to Ranevsky.

B. Trofinov’s conflict

in the field, Trofinov fells afraid before saying to Anya because Trofinov falls in love Anya,

and Anya gives respont too. Trofinov fells happy because Anya receive his love . They are

discussing about their plan for next time.

Varya.

Trofinov experiences social conflict with Lopakhin when he meets the first time in the

field, Lopakhin insults Trofinov by saying bed statement, Trofinov experiences social

conflict when Lopakhin gets argue with Trofinov, Lopakhin as a merchant wants to sell the

Cherry Orchard but Trofinov does not agree .

Trofinov vs Gaev

Trofinov experiences social conflict with Gaev. Gaev as Ranevsky’s brother knows

there is chance to pay his family’s debts with sell The Cherry Orchard to Lopakhin, because

Lopakhin gives him muc benefit to Gaev. But Trofinov does not agree and asks Gaev thinks

first because The Cherry Orchard has many memories.

Trofinov vs Ranevsky

Trofinov experiences social conflict with Ranevsky when Ranevsky makes party then

will give answer to Lopakhin who has been waiting Ranevsky answer, Trofinov use

everything with loud voice speaks with Ranevsky to cancel Renevsky’s plan, but Renevsky

still constant with her planing.

Trofinov experiences social conflict with Varya when Trofinov calls madam

Lopakhin, Varya surprised and does want Trofinov calls Varya madam Lopakin, because

Varya just a Ranevsky’s adopted daughter, although Varya loves and admire Lopakhin but

Renevsky will agree with Anya.
