Message From The President This month I celebrated my fifth anniversary as a member of the SAR.

As a result, I’ve been doing some self-reflecting upon my time in the SAR and the events that led to my becoming a member. Growing up, family was always important. I knew where my family name came from but little else about family history. Somewhere through the generations my family lost its history and therefore its connection to the American Revolution. While researching on Ancestry.com, I discovered my families lost history. But this article isn’t about my family. At least it’s not about my blood family.

It’s about my SAR family. When I became a member, I didn’t know what to expect from the SAR. Was there anything beyond receiving a cool certificate or saying I descended from a hero of the American Revolution?

From the very first SAR meeting I attended, I have felt very welcomed. The camaraderie and compatriotism I felt was like a breath of fresh air. I’ve been encouraged and I’ve grown. I have experienced a brotherhood that I’ve not seen since leaving the military decades ago. Even when I’ve had (rare) disagreements with members, I’ve always felt supported and encouraged. My time in the SAR has felt like the time has passed in a blink of an eye. That reflects upon our chapter, “time flies when you’re having fun.” It’s fun because of my SAR brothers. Each month you make me want to come back for more.

I salute each and every one of you for making my five years in the SAR so memorable. I am proud to be your president and I say thank you for this great honor.

On 7 Dec, 40 compatriots and their ladies, dressed in their holiday finery, gathered for our annual Christmas Party at the gaily decorated banquet room of Johnny's at Fife.

We held a brief Tolling of the Bell for Pearl Harbor Day, and our late compatriot David Jackman.

Christmas at Alexander Hamilton's was presided over by Viren Lemmer and expertly emceed by Kent Troy.

Ye festivities included greetings from our National and State representatives, good words from President Viren Lemer, ceremonial toasts, and a very good dinner.

A sleepy father read Clement Moore's "A Visit from St. Nicholas!", followed by a visit from Santa, who conducted a rousing exchange of gifts. There was singing of carols, general merriment and the usual camaraderie. We closed with arms linked, softly singing "Silent Night". One of the best Chapter Christmas Parties in memory.

Narrative by Bob O’Neal

Ringing of the Bell ceremony with Lee Thomasson and Bob O’Neal: Ken Roberts brought greetings from the District: Greg Lucas brought greeting from the State Society. Viren Lemmer provided highlights of the year 2019.

Jeannine Stephan was presented with the Molly Pitcher Medal for her participation in the Fife & drum corp.

Ken Roberts installed 2 new officers.

• Jerry Bordelon is the new Ch Vice President

• Dick Moody is the new Ch Registrar.

Reading of “The Night before Christmas”

(Bob O’Neal) Singing of Christmas carols… (Watch video) Santa passed out gifts to all the good “Boys & Girls”.
